Comparing Morse Complexes Using Optimal Transport: An Experimental Study
Morse complexes and Morse-Smale complexes are topological descriptors popular
in topology-based visualization. Comparing these complexes plays an important
role in their applications in feature correspondences, feature tracking,
symmetry detection, and uncertainty visualization. Leveraging recent advances
in optimal transport, we apply a class of optimal transport distances to the
comparative analysis of Morse complexes. Contrasting with existing comparative
measures, such distances are easy and efficient to compute, and naturally
provide structural matching between Morse complexes. We perform an experimental
study involving scientific simulation datasets and discuss the effectiveness of
these distances as comparative measures for Morse complexes. We also provide an
initial guideline for choosing the optimal transport distances under various

This paper describes the research that DERA is carrying out into Software Agents for use in Command Systems and the collaborative work with the 16 partners of an international Coalition Agents
Experiment. Specifically, the paper aims to show that using software agent-based C2 frameworks is a useful way of dealing with the complexity of real-world problems such as supporting agile and robust Coalition operations and enabling interoperability between legacy or previously incompatible systems. In addition, Agent-enabled 'grids' can be used to rapidly integrate a wide
variety of agents and infrastructures, with domain management services structuring agent
relationships, limiting their behaviours and enforcing Coalition policies

When performativity fails: Implications for Critical Management Studies
This article argues that recent calls in this journal and elsewhere for Critical Management Studies scholars to embrace rather than reject performativity presents an overly optimistic view of (a) the power of language to achieve emancipatory organizational change and (b) the capability of lone Critical Management Studies researchers to resignify management discourses. We introduce the notion of failed performatives to extend this argument and discuss its implications for critical inquiry. If Critical Management Studies seeks to make a practical difference in business and society, and realize its ideals of emancipation, we suggest alternative methods of impact must be explored
Developing agreement on never events in primary care dentistry:an international eDelphi study
Introduction:
Never events (NEs) are a subset of serious patient safety incidents that should not occur if appropriate preventive measures are implemented. Although there is a consensus in medicine, there is no agreement on NEs in dentistry.
Aim:
To identify NEs in primary care dentistry.
Method:
We undertook an electronic Delphi exercise to develop an international agreement on NEs for primary care dentistry.
Results:
We initially identified candidate NEs through a scoping review of the literature and then analysed dentistry-related reports in a national incident reporting system. Next, we invited an international panel of 41 experts to complete two rounds of questionnaires; 32 agreed to participate (78%) and completed the first round and 29/41 (71%) members completed the second round. We provided anonymised controlled feedback between rounds and used a cut-off of 80% agreement to define consensus. Consensus was achieved for 23 out of 42 candidate NEs. These related to routine assessment, and pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative stages of dental procedures.
Discussion and conclusion:
To our knowledge, this is the first international expert consensus-based approach that has identified NEs for primary care dentistry. We suggest that dental regulators consider these to support quality assessment and governance activities
Final design report: Spoiler Alert! Active aero for Formula SAE, Senior Design Spring 2022
The purpose of this Senior Design Project was to design and build an actively actuated front wing for the Oklahoma State Formula SAE competition car. This was accomplished using multiple engineering analysis and design methods, as well as multiple methods of product manufacturing and testing. The Aerodynamics, Mechanical, Electrical, and Testing sub-teams worked together to design and build a carbon fiber multi-tier actively actuated front wing. The results of testing showed that the wing decreased overall lap time, translating to up to an 8-place improvement in the skid pad competition, as well as up to a 12-place improvement in the autocross competition
Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting Education: Promoting Family Mindfulness During the Perinatal Period
We present the conceptual and empirical foundation and curriculum content of the Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting (MBCP) program and the results of a pilot study of n = 27 pregnant women participating in MBCP during their third trimester of pregnancy. MBCP is a formal adaptation of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program and was developed and refined over the course of 11 years of clinical practice with 59 groups of expectant couples. MBCP is designed to promote family health and well-being through the practice of mindfulness during pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenting. Quantitative results from the current study include statistically significant increases in mindfulness and positive affect, and decreases in pregnancy anxiety, depression, and negative affect from pre- to post-test (p < .05). Effect sizes for changes in key hypothesized intervention mediators were large (d > .70), suggesting that MBCP is achieving its intended effects on maternal well-being during pregnancy. Qualitative reports from participants expand upon the quantitative findings, with the majority of participants reporting perceived benefits of using mindfulness practices during the perinatal period and early parenting. Our future research will involve conducting a randomized controlled trial of MBCP to test effects on psychophysiological stress mechanisms and to examine effects on birth outcomes, family relationship quality, and child development outcomes
