    Inferring User Personality from Twitter

    Personality affects how a person behaves when interacting with people and computer systems. It can determine one’s needs and preferences in different contexts, which is especially useful for adaptive and recommender systems. Personality questionnaires are widely used to acquire information about user personality. However, filling in them can be tedious. Analyzing the user interactions can be another way of obtaining that information. Since personality has an impact on the way a person interacts with others, and social networks are widely used for this purpose, information about user interactions through social networks can give a clue about their personality. In this paper, we present a system able to obtain data about user interactions in Twitter and analyze them in order to infer user personality. The system has been used not only to infer personality but also to compare and evaluate different user models, classifiers and personality dimensionsThis work has been funded by the BLIND, project BLIND (BLIND) and by BLIND, project BLIND (BLIND).     Serious Games for Training Myoelectric Prostheses through Multi-Contact Devices

    In the medical context, designing and developing myoelectric prostheses has made it possible for patients to regain mobility lost due to amputations; however, their use requires intensive training. Serious games through multi-touch devices can serve as a complement to the activities carried out during face-to-face sessions with occupational therapists and physiotherapists, as a useful resource to engage patients, especially children, and make them enjoy training. In this paper, we describe our work to support the training of myoelectric prostheses through digital serious games. Firstly, we studied the needs of children with myoelectric prostheses and the way they perform rehabilitation. Secondly, we designed specific games to support training accordingly. Thirdly, we developed a system able to generate variations of these games dynamically, adapting the elements at each round to the needs and progress of each child. The interfaces are simple, friendly, and based on tablets to favor autonomy. Finally, we assessed the potential of the use of these games for rehabilitation. Specialists in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Medicine and Special Education collaborated as experts; they agreed that SilverTouch is good for myoelectric prosthetic training and confirmed its potential to be widely used in this context.This research was co-funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, project IndiGo! number PID2019-105951RB-I00 and the Structural Funds FSE and FEDER, project e-MadridCM number S2018/TCS-4307

    The Role of Vascular Lesions in Diabetes Across a Spectrum of Clinical Kidney Disease

Methods We analyzed nephrectomy specimens from 90 patients with diabetes and diverse degrees of proteinuria and glomerular filtration rate (GFR). Results Thirty-six (40%) subjects had normoalbuminuria, 33 (37%) microalbuminuria, and 21 (23%) non-nephrotic proteinuria. Mean estimated GFR (eGFR) was 65±23 (40% 10% to 20% of the sample. Moderate hyalinosis and arteriolar sclerosis were observed in 80% to 100% of cases with normoalbuminuria, microalbuminuria, proteinuria, as well as in class I, II, or III. Conclusions Weak correspondence between analytical parameters and kidney histology was found. Thus, disease may progress undetected from the early clinical stages of the disease. Finally, vascular damage was a very common finding, which highlights the role of ischemic intrarenal disease in diabetes.This study was funded by the ERA-EDTA (European Renal Association-European Dialysis and Transplant Association).     Tratamiento farmacológico de Covid-19 en pediatría: Comité de Farmacovigilancia del Hospital General de Niños Pedro de Elizalde

    Introducción: El grupo que conforma el Comité de Farmacovigilancia del Hospital General de Niños Pedro de Elizalde realizó una revisión de la literatura publicada acerca de los tratamientos farmacológicos disponibles para la infección por SARS-CoV-2 en pediatría, con el propósito de informar acerca de sus mecanismos de acción, dosis, efectos adversos, interacciones medicamentosas y presentación en el mercado argentino. Materiales y Métodos: Se realizó una búsqueda en bases de datos bibliográficas y en Agencias Nacionales e Internacionales reguladoras de alimentos y medicamentos. Se utilizaron como criterios de inclusión textos en inglés y/o español, con acceso al texto completo, publicados hasta junio de 2020. Resultados: No existe evidencia actual que permita recomendar un tratamiento farmacológico determinado en la población pediátrica con infección por SARS-CoV-2, de acuerdo con las diferentes fuentes bibliográficas consultadas.     RICORS2040 : The need for collaborative research in chronic kidney disease

    Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a silent and poorly known killer. The current concept of CKD is relatively young and uptake by the public, physicians and health authorities is not widespread. Physicians still confuse CKD with chronic kidney insufficiency or failure. For the wider public and health authorities, CKD evokes kidney replacement therapy (KRT). In Spain, the prevalence of KRT is 0.13%. Thus health authorities may consider CKD a non-issue: very few persons eventually need KRT and, for those in whom kidneys fail, the problem is 'solved' by dialysis or kidney transplantation. However, KRT is the tip of the iceberg in the burden of CKD. The main burden of CKD is accelerated ageing and premature death. The cut-off points for kidney function and kidney damage indexes that define CKD also mark an increased risk for all-cause premature death. CKD is the most prevalent risk factor for lethal coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and the factor that most increases the risk of death in COVID-19, after old age. Men and women undergoing KRT still have an annual mortality that is 10- to 100-fold higher than similar-age peers, and life expectancy is shortened by ~40 years for young persons on dialysis and by 15 years for young persons with a functioning kidney graft. CKD is expected to become the fifth greatest global cause of death by 2040 and the second greatest cause of death in Spain before the end of the century, a time when one in four Spaniards will have CKD. However, by 2022, CKD will become the only top-15 global predicted cause of death that is not supported by a dedicated well-funded Centres for Biomedical Research (CIBER) network structure in Spain. Realizing the underestimation of the CKD burden of disease by health authorities, the Decade of the Kidney initiative for 2020-2030 was launched by the American Association of Kidney Patients and the European Kidney Health Alliance. Leading Spanish kidney researchers grouped in the kidney collaborative research network Red de Investigación Renal have now applied for the Redes de Investigación Cooperativa Orientadas a Resultados en Salud (RICORS) call for collaborative research in Spain with the support of the Spanish Society of Nephrology, Federación Nacional de Asociaciones para la Lucha Contra las Enfermedades del Riñón and ONT: RICORS2040 aims to prevent the dire predictions for the global 2040 burden of CKD from becoming true

    En este documento se analiza el comportamiento del concreto reforzado con fibras metálicas (SFRC) y se presentan los resultados de diferentes metodologías de diseño para losas apoyadas en el suelo. Específicamente, se estudiaron las metodologías de los códigos de diseño ACI 360R-06 (ACI, 2006) y TR34 (The Concrete Society, 2003) con el fin de reconocer los beneficios que conlleva la utilización del SFRC y poder obtener una mayor eficiencia en su uso.La investigación experimental desarrollada se basó en obtener el parámetro Re,3, a partir de una resistencia de concreto y un tipo de fibra específicos con el objetivo de comprobar el comportamiento mecánico del SFRC y compararlo contra los datos de las especificaciones técnicas utilizadas

    Aphrodisiac activity of Phlegmariurus saururus in copulating and noncopulating male rats

    Background Phlegmariurus saururus is popularly known in Argentina as aphrodisiac. For this reason, it was previously investigated and determined that the decoction of this plant elicits pro-ejaculatory activity and increases the ejaculatory potency in the Fictive Ejaculation Model. Hypothesis/Purpose the decoction of P. saururus facilitates sexual behavior in sexually experienced male rat and induces copulatory behavior in non-copulating male rats. Methods The extraction method (decoction) was validated through Selectivity, Accuracy and Precision, by identification of the majority alkaloids, expressed as sauroxine. Male (sexually experienced and noncopulating) and female (receptive) Wistar rats were used to determine sexual behavior. Sildenafil was used as positive control. The following variables were evaluated: Mount Latency, Intromission Latency, Ejaculation Latency, Post Ejaculatory Interval, as well as the Mounts and Intromissions Number. Results In sexually experienced male rats, P. saururus decoction stimulates sexual arousal and facilitates sexual execution. In noncopulating male rats, this decoction induces copulation with behavioral characteristics similar to sexually experienced animals.
