An Analysis of Rocket Propulsion Testing Costs

The primary mission at NASA Stennis Space Center (SSC) is rocket propulsion testing. Such testing is commonly characterized as one of two types: production testing for certification and acceptance of engine hardware, and developmental testing for prototype evaluation or research and development (R&D) purposes. For programmatic reasons there is a continuing need to assess and evaluate the test costs for the various types of test campaigns that involve liquid rocket propellant test articles. Presently, in fact, there is a critical need to provide guidance on what represents a best value for testing and provide some key economic insights for decision-makers within NASA and the test customers outside the Agency. Hence, selected rocket propulsion test databases and references have been evaluated and analyzed with the intent to discover correlations of technical information and test costs that could help produce more reliable and accurate cost projections in the future. The process of searching, collecting, and validating propulsion test cost information presented some unique obstacles which then led to a set of recommendations for improvement in order to facilitate future cost information gathering and analysis. In summary, this historical account and evaluation of rocket propulsion test cost information will enhance understanding of the various kinds of project cost information; identify certain trends of interest to the aerospace testing community

Dioniso The Perfect Experience

El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo estudiar la viabilidad del proyecto Dioniso, el cual consiste en brindar una experiencia completa a las mujeres en su despedida de soltera. La experiencia completa consta de diversas estaciones, la primera una sala de Manicure&Pedicure, seguido de un SPA, posteriormente un show en vivo de bartender y para finalizar un show en vivo de Strippers.The objective of this study is to study the viability of the Dioniso project, which consists in providing a complete experience to the women in their bachelorette party. Vialidad paseo tollocan en la Ciudad de Toluca

La ponencia estudia el funcionamiento de la vialidad Paseo Tollocan, en el oriente de la ciudad de Toluca, aborda los flujos, tipo de transporte y el papel en la dirección del crecimiento urbano regional. Aquí sostenemos que dicho eje vial presenta ineficiencia como consecuencia de la multifuncionalidad que desarrolla, derivados de los problemas en la estructura morfológica vial, ello acarrea consecuencias negativas al desarrollo urbano, a la economía urbana y al ambiente. La vialidad Paseo Tollocan, es uno de los ejes de la estructura urbana vial más importantes para la ciudad de Toluca y actualmente tiene triple función de movilidad por la yuxtaposición de roles que afronta con creses: eje de circulación, medio de comunicación o carretera y eje de expansión urbana, a su vez tiene un papel económico. La investigación documenta con base en los aforos, que éstos han incrementado en ambos sentidos del eje vial. Presenta puntos de conflicto, observado en los estudios de nivel de servicio y los movimientos direccionales los cuales reportan conflictos en los cuerpos laterales y los cruces con otras avenidas, ello deriva en desplazamientos lentos, al mismo tiempo que se dificulta la accesibilidad. Contribución al estudio macroscópico y microscópico del aparato digestivo de cañan (Dicrodon guttulatum)

La presente investigación se realizó en el cañán ( Dicrodon guttulatum ) , una especie de reptil del género Dicrodon, distribuido específicamente en el territorio peruano, el cual se encuentra habitando los desiertos secos de la zona norte del Perú, extendiéndose por Jequetepeque, San Pedro de Lloc, Virú, entre otros y que actualmente se encuentra identificado como una especie en peligro de extinción con pocos estudios específicos respecto a su anatomía, fisiología, entre otros. Los especímenes fueron colectados de un vendedor de este reptil para el consumo humano en el Distrito de San Pedro de Lloc, provincia de Pacasmayo, los cuales se eligieron al azar y fisiológicamente sanos; se obtuvieron muestras histológicas del sistema digestivo y se tiñeron con colorante de hematoxilina y eosina, para lograr identificar las diferentes estructuras histológicas ya que no hay ninguna literatura específica para este estudio y en esta especie. En los resultados se han evidenciado que las estructuras como: Lengua, esófago, estómago, intestino delgado, intestino grueso, páncreas e hígado no presentan cambios histológicos respecto a las demás especies en mención.This research was conducted in Canan ( Dicrodon guttulatum ) , a species of reptile genus Dicrodon, distributed specifically in Peruvian territory, which is inhabiting the dry deserts of northern Peru, extending Jequetepeque, San Pedro de Lloc, Viru, among others and currently is identified as an endangered species with few specific studies regarding their anatomy, physiology, among others. The specimens were collected from a seller of this reptile for human consumption in the District of San Pedro de Lloc, province of Pacasmayo, which were randomly selected and physiologically healthy; Histological samples of the digestive system were obtained and stained with hematoxylin and eosin dye, in order to identify the different histological structures as no specific literature for this study and in this species. The results have shown that structures such as tongue, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, pancreas and liver histological changes do not show respect to other species in question.Tesi

Mitochondrial dysfunction promoted by Porphyromonas gingivalis lipopolysaccharide as a possible link between cardiovascular disease and periodontitis

Oxidative stress is one of the factors that could explain the pathophysiological mechanism of inflammatory conditions that occur in cardiovascular disease (CVD) and periodontitis. Such inflammatory response is often evoked by specific bacteria, as the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) of Porphyromonas gingivalis is a key factor in this process. The aim of this research was to study the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from periodontitis patients and to evaluate the influence of LPS on fibroblasts to better understand the pathophysiology of periodontitis and its relationship with CVD. PBMCs from patients showed lower CoQ10 levels and citrate synthase activity, together with high levels of ROS production. LPS-treated fibroblasts provoked increased oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction by a decrease in mitochondrial protein expression, mitochondrial mass, and mitochondrial membrane potential. Our study supports the hypothesis that LPS-mediated mitochondrial dysfunction could be at the origin of oxidative stress in periodontal patients. Abnormal PBMC performance may promote oxidative stress and alter cytokine homeostasis. A comprehensive model of adjustment to pain in the co-occurrence of PTSD and chronic musculoskeletal pain: vulnerability and protective pathways

There are a significant comorbidity between PTSD and chronic pain. Thus, studies clarifying the vulnerability and protective variables and mechanisms associated with PTSD and chronic pain are needed. The aim of this study was to examine the association between trauma, resilience, PTSD symptoms, and the variables included in the fear-avoidance models (anxiety sensitivity, catastrophizing, fear-avoidance beliefs, fear of pain, pain hypervigilance) as well as pain acceptance and experiential avoidance in explaining adjustment to chronic pain (pain intensity, pain-related disability and emotional distress). Method: the sample consisted of 229 patients with chronic musculoskeletal back pain. Results: Structural Equation Modelling was used. Statistical tests indicated that the hypothesized model adequately fitted the data (RMSEA = .07; CFI = .99; NNFI = .98; TLI = .96). The χ2 test was significant (χ2 (8) = 19.25, χ2 /dl = 2.40, p = .014). The results provided support for the hypothesized model. All the standardized path coefficients were significant (p < .05). Conclusions: This study provides empirical support for the potential role of PTSD symptoms in fear-avoidance models of chronic pain, and may provide support for the diathesis-stress model of pain. It is the first comprehensive model of adjustment to pain to consider vulnerability and protective adaptation mechanisms in patients who have undergone a traumatic event. The study highlights the importance of a comprehensive framework of reference to understand the comorbidity of PTSD and chronic musculoskeletal pain, and the need to provide well-designed treatment programs for the simultaneous treatment of these conditions.Universidad de Málaga. Bacteremia caused by an Acinetobacter junii strain harboring class 1 integron and diverse DNA mobile elements

INTRODUCTION: Infections caused by Acinetobacter junii are rarely reported. However, some outbreaks of septicemia in neonates and pediatric oncology patients, as well as meningitis, peritonitis, and ocular infection have been described. Since it is highly infrequent to find the molecular characterization of A. junii strains in literature, in this study we described the molecular characterization of A. junii isolates recovered from blood samples of a renal transplant patient. METHODOLOGY: The case was defined as a catheter-related bacteremia caused by A. junii. The patient responded favorably after catheter removal and treatment with ciprofloxacin. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The complete molecular characterization of the isolate showed that it harbored a class 1 integron and diverse DNA mobile elements. This explains its genomic plasticity for acquiring antimicrobial resistance determinants and for adapting to a nosocomial niche.Fil: Traglia, German Matias. Aplicación y contabilización del Impuesto Selectivo de Consumo (ISC) en las empresas industriales: “Castillo del Cacao, Fábrica de Alimentos la Matagalpa y Agua Purificada del Bosque del Municipio de Matagalpa en el primer semestre del año 2008

La aplicación y contabilización del Impuesto Selectivo de Consumo (ISC), en las empresas industriales: Castillo del Cacao, Súper la Matagalpa, Agua Purificada del Bosque de la ciudad de Matagalpa, procura analizar la adecuada contabilización del impuesto en el registro de sus operaciones. Se considera importante la correcta aplicación del ISC en los registros contables; para determinar en qué momento incurrirá en impuesto por pagar o sí esta será recuperable en un periodo futuro, al momento de declarar el impuesto a la Administración de renta. El impuesto Selectivo de Consumo (ISC) es un tributo que afecta el valor de las enajenaciones e importaciones de bienes .Su objetivo es analizar el proceso del impuesto en las empresas industriales. El Castillo del Cacao, Fabrica de Alimentos la Matagalpa y Agua Purificada del Bosque, los procedimientos contables aplicado al Impuesto Selectivo de Consumo (ISC), es según el producto que ofrecen al consumidor y el tipo de insumo que utilizan para la producción; ya que cada uno tiene sus propias característica de acuerdo al tipo de operación que realizan como fabricante. En los Estados Financieros el Impuesto Selectivo de Consumo es presentado en el grupo de los Activos como Impuesto pagados por anticipado (sub cuenta ISC acreditable) en el grupo de los Pasivos se identifica como ISC por pagar por ser una obligación que las empresas tiene como responsables recaudadores del Impuest

The Development of Archivist Culture in Mexico

Resumen: El presente trabajo aborda la evolución archivística en el contexto mexicano bajo cuatro ejes de análisis: las instituciones archivísticas, la legislación, la formación profesional y las asociaciones profesionales. Se hace una revisión cronológica de manera transversal y paralela con los hechos -dentro de este marco- que han marcado el devenir de la disciplina y evidencian la incipiente presencia de la archivística nacional a través de las acciones que se han emprendido y han hecho visible a la disciplina. El empalme sucesivo, natural y poco estructurado de principios a mediados del siglo pasado, ha servido de base para construir el andamiaje en el que, a través de la oferta educativa de carreras a nivel superior por un lado y, por otro, el desarrollo propio de la profesión mediante la inserción de Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación y su regulación a través de un marco legal, han ido gestando una Archivística nacional que ha incidido en un gremio profesional embrionario y más o menos organizado.Abstract: This paper addresses the evolution of archives in the Mexican context under four axes of analysis, archive institutions, legislation, professional training, and professional associations. A transverse and parallel chronological review of the facts is performed within this framework, which has marked the development of the discipline and shows the emerging presence of the national archives through the actions to be undertaken and made visible to the discipline. Contributions of music education to education for peace: searching for "trans-truth" in the "post-truth" era

A contribution that music education provides society with is its making of education and culture of peace. In this paper we analyze the theoretical assumptions that research in both areas has in common nowadays. A catalog of shared categories is proposed; the development of them entails a strengthening of their transversal meanings, while describing how the convergence between the two subjects constitutes an emerging topic of research. Besides, an explanation of the political implications that are discovered in the curricular relegation that they have suffered in the last years thanks to the neoliberal policies is offered, together with a proposal of epowerment from their own resources
