Caracterización de pacientes tratados con polimixina b en el Hospital Militar Central durante el periodo de octubre 2008 febrero 2010: eficacia y perfil de seguridad

La emergencia de gérmenes gram negativos multidrogoresistentes y el desarrollo limitado de nuevos antibióticos ha evidenciado la necesidad de retomar opciones terapéuticas utilizadas en el pasado y abandonadas por toxicidad como es el caso de polimixina B para dar manejo a este tipo de infecciones que se caracterizan por generar una alta morbilidad y mortalidad, sin embargo se requiere experiencia con este tipo de medicamentos a la luz de las nuevos retos que se imponen en el tratamiento de estos pacientes que presentan con frecuencia múltiples comorbilidades y por lo tanto mayor riesgo de eventos adversos. De cinco polimixinas originalmente descritas (secuencialmente llamadas de Polimixina A a la E) dos tienen usos en los escenarios clínicos actuales: Polimixina B y polimixina E (colistina) ambos detergentes polipeptidicos cationicos ciclos. Actualmente en el mundo existen datos escasos de la experiencia clínica del mismo y en Colombia hasta el momento no hay datos reportados al respecto, es por ello que queremos con nuestra experiencia con el uso de Polimixina servir como base para otras instituciones de salud y poder demostrar de forma clara, cual es la utilidad actual de este medicamento cuales son su ventajas, eficacia y perfil de seguridad. Con el fin de resolver esta inquietud el grupo de investigación reporta una serie de casos. Este tipo de estudio genera información que puede ser base para futuros estudios analíticos. Además es de bajo costo y contamos con la información a través de las historias clínicas del archivo del Hospital Militar Central. Los datos obtenidos serán utilizados para realizar el análisis necesario con el fin de conocer las características clínicas y epidemiológicas relevantes de estos pacientes, el tratamiento realizado, la evolución clínica y generar una aproximación del costo de atención en nuestra institució

Innovation, Technology and User Experience in Museums: Insights from Scientific Literature

Museums play an important role in preserving the heritage and cultural legacy of humanity, however, one of their main weaknesses in regards the user is their static nature. At present, and in the face of the development of diverse technologies and the ease of access to information, museums have upgraded their implementation of technologies aimed at improving the user experience, trying more and more to access younger audiences with a sensitivity and natural capacity for the management of new technologies. This work identifies trends in the use of technological tools by museums worldwide and the effect of these on the user or visitor experience through a review of scientific literature. To complete the work, we performed a search of the publications in the Scopus® referencing database, and downloaded, processed, and visualized the data using the VOSviewer® tool. The main trends identified in this context of analysis are related to the role of museums with the development and improvement of the user experience; orientation to young audiences and innovation driven by the user through Interactive Systems, digital games, QR Codes, apps, augmented reality, virtual reality and gamification, among others. Pielonefritis enfisematosa en paciente con infección por virus de inmunodeficiencia humana: reporte de caso

La pielonefritis enfisematosa es una infección necrosante del parénquima renal que puede afectar los tejidos perirrenales y cuyo espectro de presentación clínica, por esa razón, es variable (choque séptico, acidosis metabólica, hiperglucemia, hipoglucemia, falla renal, delirio, entre otros); la mayoría de los casos se han informado en pacientes con diabetes mellitus o presencia de uropatía obstructiva. Reportamos el caso de una paciente joven no diabética quien presentó pielonefritis enfisematosa como condición clínica que lleva al diagnóstico inicial de infección por VIH, sin otras comorbilidades relacionadas, exitosamente tratada con manejo quirúrgico y antibioticoterapia. Se realizó una búsqueda sistemática de la literatura, en la cual no se ha informado esta enfermedad como manifestación clínica que lleve al diagnóstico inicial de la infección por VIH

Giant Molluscum Contagiosum in an HIV positive patient

Molluscum Contagiosum (MC) is a skin infection caused by a double-stranded DNA virus of the family Poxviridae that replicates in the human epidermis, affecting mainly children and young sexually active adults and causing flesh colored papular lesions with central umbilication with an average size of 3-5 mm, although atypical lesions that reach great size (Giant Molluscum Contagiosum), 10-15 mm, can be seen in almost any immunodeficiency condition. We report the case of a 35 year old male patient with C3 HIV disease with an abdominal pathology associated to skin lesions predominantly in the forehead and scalp that reached sizes over 5 mm, diagnosed as Giant Molluscum Contagiosum by skin biopsies

Using text mining tools to define territorial competitiveness indicators

For this study, articles from the fields of Social Sciences; Economics; Econometrics and Finance; Business and Management; and Accounting have been monitored for the period from 1979 to 2017. VOSviewer® was used to create, visualize and explore bibliometric information from Scopus scientific database, for the identification and definition of territorial competitiveness indi-cators.
