Environmental Education has been pointed as a way to materialize renewed forms in the human-environment relationship in the face of today's serious social and environmental problems. It was sought to reflect its institutionalization from the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, in order to identify and characterize the attention dedicated to the consolidation of an Education oriented to the principles of Sustainability in Brazil. The article is a bibliographical-documentary survey and seeks to reflect how the precepts instituted as pertinent to an Education for Sustainable Development have been embodied in the Brazilian reality, discussing issues related to its institutionalization, internalization in school curricula and public funding. It is verified, despite the large academic and institutional production, that such education remains marginal and secondary in the Brazilian reality.
Modulatory effect of diphenyl diselenide in Carioca High- and Low-conditioned Freezing rats
AbstractDiphenyl diselenide ([PhSe]2)is an organoselenium compound that has interesting pharmacological properties, including antioxidant, glutathione peroxidase-mimetic, and neuroprotective effects. The objective of the present study was to investigate the possible modulatory effect of (PhSe)2 in 17th-generation Carioca high-and low-conditioned freezing (CHF and CLF) rats, an animal model of generalized anxiety disorders. (PhSe)2 was administered at three doses (10, 50, and 100mg/kg) in CHF and CLF rats, and their anxiety-like profiles (conditioned freezing patterns) were measured before and 30min after treatment. A significant difference was found in freezing scores between CHF and CLF animals before treatment (t70=12.50, p<0.001). Treatment with (PhSe)2 at 10 and 50mg/kg decreased freezing in CHF rats but significantly increased freezing at 100mg/kg. (PhSe)2 increased freezing in CLF animals at 50 and 100mg/kg (p<0.01). These results indicate that (PhSe)2 exerts both anxiolytic- and anxiogenic-like effects in bi-directional rat lines. Distinct genetic profiles of the CHF and CLF lines may influence biochemical functions and lead to differential responses to aversive situations and various drugs like (PhSe)2
This study aims to analyze the influence of personnel and cultural controls on accounting services firms’ organizational commitment and performance. For this, a survey was conducted with 204 professionals, and the hypotheses were analyzed through structural equation modeling. The results indicate a positive influence of cultural controls on organizational performance. Also, it was observed that informal controls positively impact organizational commitment, which, in turn, affects organizational performance. Organizational commitment was also found to play a partial mediation role in the relationship between cultural controls and organizational performance and a total mediation role in the relationship between personnel controls and organizational performance. These findings contribute to the existing literature by expanding knowledge about informal controls, especially in accounting firms. Moreover, they offer practical insights to managers in these firms, highlighting the importance of informal controls to promote employee engagement and improve organizational performance.O objetivo deste estudo consiste em analisar a influência dos controles de pessoal e cultural no comprometimento organizacional e desempenho de escritórios de serviços de contabilidade.
Establishment of echocardiographic index of polo ponies
The athletic training allows for morphologic and functional heart of horses undergoing different types of exercise, so studies have been published on the echocardiographic measurements of race horses, endurance horses and barrel horses, hunting horse, among others, otherwise, the echocardiographic indices of reference for polo ponies were not reported. Thus, echocardiographic measurements were performed in M-mode and 2D 20 polo horses in training, when they were divided into three age groups, namely: Group I consisted of eight animals aged between five and ten years, Group II with seven animals aged between 11 and 15 years, and Group III with five animals aged 16 to 22 years. The results of our study showed no statistical difference among different age groups, there was no standard yet for the values of correlations with weight, they are weak to strong, positive or negativ
Mathematics Education in Field Education Contexts
This article approaches the relationship between mathematics education and field education, based on the academic production of the research group on mathematics education in field education contexts (Gpemce) created in 2008 at the Federal University of Pernambuco. After presenting the repercussions and lines of research of the group, we reflect on the roots and principles of field education and some approximations of this domain with mathematics education. Then, we present a documentary study, whose corpus consists of 20 articles published in journals by researchers from Gpemce from 2009 to 2020. These articles are organised around four thematic categories that are associated with the research lines of the group: teaching and learning mathematics in field education contexts; relationships between curriculum contents, mathematical practices and productive field activities; resources in the teaching of mathematics in field schools and qualification of mathematics teachers of schools in field areas. The study highlights the diversity of educational subjects, themes, and sociocultural contexts contemplated in the research, and points out ways to conduct new investigations that contribute to deepen our understanding of the teaching and learning of mathematics in field schools and initial and continuing teacher education in field education contexts
Tolerance and Adaptability of Tomato Genotypes to Saline Irrigation
High salt concentration in irrigation water is often a limiting factor to tomato production in Brazil. However, there is limited information available regarding the tolerance of tomato genotypes to saline irrigation. An experiment was conducted in a protected environment using a randomized block design with four replications. Treatments consisted of 12 tomato genotypes cultivated in an environment with varying levels of salt stress. Moderate and severe salt stress affected plant height, transversal and longitudinal diameter of fruit, fresh mass, yield, and number of tomato fruit per plant. Cluster analysis, stability, and adaptability provided the best estimates to identify the most adaptable genotype to saline stress, with the genotypes Maestrina, Onix, Pizzadoro, and Shanty being the best adapted to moderate and severe saline stress conditions. The genotypes Maestrina, Onix, Pizzadoro, and Shanty were identified as most adaptable to and stable under salt stress. Sodium absorption increased as irrigation salinity increased. In addition, P, K, and Ca concentration decreased under salt stress, which caused damage to all yield components and plant nutrition. The genotype Onix was more tolerant to the effects of moderate saline irrigation, while the genotypes Sheena, Sperare, Santa Clara, IPA 6, and Dominador had lower losses under severe salt stress conditions
