Análise da distribuição espacial urbana das unidades de saúde da família e unidade básica de saúde em feira de Santana / Analysis of the urban space distribution of family health units and basic health unit in Santana fair

Esse trabalho teve o objetivo estudar a distribuição das Unidades de Saúde da Família - USF e Unidade básica de Saúde – UBS, aqui tratados como Equipamentos Públicos. Para traçar essa análise foi utilizado o algoritmo de densidade de Kernel, para evidenciar a distribuição espacial. Foi utilizado um raio de ação, no algoritmo, de 1 km (distância recomendada para utilizar o equipamento público sem a necessidade de utilizar transporte público ou particular). O algoritmo se mostrou satisfatório, pois apontou a maior concentração dos equipamentos públicos no setor Noroeste da Cidade e “vazios” no setor Nordeste e Sudeste, este vazio pode ser explicado pelo rápido crescimento urbano neste setor do município impulsionado pelos programas governamentais de habitação. 

Do Atta sexdens rubropilosa workers prepare leaves and bait pellets in similar ways to their symbiotic fungus?

Leaf-cutting ants rely on the obligate symbiosis with a fungus, Leucoagaricus gongylophorus, on which they feed. This fungus garden is maintained preferentially with green leaves in combination with other tissues of plant origin. The nutritional composition of this symbiotic relationship is extremely beneficial for the colony, representing the main food source for larvae and an important food component of adult workers. The objective of this study was to observe the behavioral repertoire of Atta sexdens rubropilosa during the preparation and incorporation of two different substrates, leaves and bait pellets, as well as the participation of each caste in these processes this process. The first substrate offered to the colonies were Citrus sp. leaves cut into disks and the second were pellets of citrus pulp bait formulated without the active ingredient. The observations were made under a stereomicroscope and were started when the first portion of the substrate offered was carried to the fungus garden. The behaviors executed during preparation and incorporation of the leaf disks, and subsequently of the bait pellets, were recorded using three colonies, with six repetitions of 5 and 7 hours per colony, respectively. Eight behavioral acts were recorded for the three castes found, irrespective of the substrate processed by the workers. Licking was the most frequently executed behavioral act, which occurred throughout the observation period, regardless of the substrate offered. Gardeners and generalists were the castes most engaged in the execution of this behavior. Considering the large number of individuals involved in the execution of this task, it can be concluded that this behavior is important for dispersion of the active ingredient and contamination of workers inside the colony.

Study of the plywood panels properties using geostatistic

Plywood panels have multiple applications in construction, in the furniture industry and packaging. There is a need to improve techniques for assessing quality of these products. This paper proposed the use of geostatistics to evaluate the behavior of the of the plywood panel. The physical properties were analyzed (moisture content, density and water absorption) in the full extent of the plywood panel of Eucalyptus sp., bonded with adhesive single-component polyurethane. For analysis, three panels of five layers, with dimensions of 350 x 350 x 15.5 mm each, were employed. The tests were based on the standards EN 323-2000, EN 322-2000 and ABNT NBR 9486- 2011. Statistical modeling was performed using the R software, using the methodology of geostatistics. The average results were compared with values reported in the literature. The average water absorption was 7% higher in comparison with other studies, which used urea formaldehyde. So, the product can be applied only to interior and their use is not advisable for floors; the average moisture content and density were within the average values found in the literature. The behavior of the properties analyzed using the geostatistical model was not homogeneous, with large variations. Geostatistics was considered an appropriate tool for the study of the variability of the plywood panel properties, and can be applied for better quality control of them.

Abordagem dos cuidados com o coto umbilical na atenção básica para prevenção da onfalite: relato de experiência/ Umbilical stump care approach in basic care for prevention of onphalitis: experience report

INTRODUÇÃO: Após o nascimento da criança, o cordão umbilical é clampeado e seccionado, passando a ser chamado de coto umbilical, ele necessita de vigilância e cuidados por favorecer a ocorrência de infecções; onfalite, caracterizado por sinais de inflamação local, como edema, aumento da sensibilidade e calor local. OBJETIVO: Orientar gestantes sobre cuidados preventivos de infeção e melhor tratamento a instituir para os cuidados ao coto umbilical.  METODOLOGIA: O estudo é do tipo relato de experiência, que surgiu a partir de uma oficina para 12 gestantes realizado por acadêmicos de enfermagem onde foram abordados os primeiros cuidados ao recém-nascido com ênfase no coto umbilical. RESULTADOS: O conhecimento prévio das participantes sobre a temática possibilitou o desenvolvimento teórico do curso de maneira clara e objetiva, além de proporcionar a socialização das gestantes com os cuidados apropriados com o coto umbilical onde as mesmas realizaram a técnica correta em bonecas. CONCLUSÕES: Ao não realizar a técnica correta da limpeza do coto umbilical mães e/ou cuidadores, podem contribuir com inúmeros fatores favoráveis para a proliferação de microrganismos. Algumas intervenções são consideradas seguras para a limpeza do coto umbilical entre elas lavagem das mãos, não utilização de substâncias caseiras e a limpeza diária com antisséptico álcool a 70%

Chemical constituents and antimicrobial activity of extracts from Dilodendron bipinnatum (sapindaceae)

The phytochemical investigation of ethanolic extracts from leaves, branches and stems of D. bipinnatum afforded the steroids β-sitosterol, stigmasterol, campesterol, sitostenone and sitosterol-3-O-β-D-glycopyranoside, along with two cycloartane triterpenes: cycloeucalenol and 24-methylenecycloartenol. The antimicrobial activity of the extracts was evaluated against Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923), Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922), Bacillus subtilis (ATCC 6623), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 15442), Micrococcus luteus (ATCC 9341) and Candida albicans (ATCC 10231). The extracts of the leaves and branches showed moderate activity against Candida albicans. The extract of the branches was active against Micrococcus luteus. Mortality reduction with use of oral beta-blockers in patients with acute coronary syndrome

OBJECTIVES: Recent studies have revealed a relationship between beta-blocker use and worse prognosis in acute coronary syndrome, mainly due to a higher incidence of cardiogenic shock. However, the relevance of this relationship in the reperfusion era is unknown. The aim of this study was to analyze the outcomes of patients with acute coronary syndrome that started oral beta-blockers within the first 24 hours of hospital admission (group I) compared to patients who did not use oral beta-blockers in this timeframe (group II). METHODS: This was an observational, retrospective and multicentric study with 2,553 patients (2,212 in group I and 341 in group II). Data regarding demographic characteristics, coronary treatment and medication use in the hospital were obtained. The primary endpoint was in-hospital all-cause mortality. The groups were compared by ANOVA and the chi-square test. Multivariate analysis was conducted by logistic regression and results were considered significant when
