Identidade negra e presteza social em Toni Morrison: uma análise pós-colonialista de The Bluest Eye

Este texto visa analisar The Bluest Eye (1965), da escritora afro-americana Toni Morrison (1931), sob a luz dos estudos pós-coloniais: as representações deliberadamente marginalizadas que Morrison faz dos personagens negros a pretexto da crítica. Após levantamento bibliográfico, percebeu-se que Bhabha (1991), Fanon (2008), Kaplan (1998), Said (2007) entre outros, ilustram perfeitamente as questões apresentadas no romance americano, uma vez que este trata, especificamente, de pessoas negras sofrendo e vivendo apesar do racismo estrutural, bem como reproduzindo-o entre seus pares. É sabido que, enquanto mulher afro-americana escrevendo sobre racismo durante a década de 60 – uma das décadas mais movimentadas no sentido de produção cultural e luta contra a segregação racial, Morrison percebia a sociedade norte-americana racista de forma pungente. Então, ao inspirar o medo, o sombrio e o hábito ao sofrimento racial nas relações corriqueiras de uma pequena cidade norte-americana, Morrison ecoava preceitos racistas a fim de denunciar as discrepâncias no tratamento e nas representações de pessoas brancas e negras – e do impasse entre a marginalização e a aceitação de tudo o que reside entre essas categorias. O objetivo desta pesquisa é analisar como Morrison constrói esta crítica através da relação entre duas famílias: os Breedlove e os McTeers; apresentando-os como indivíduos e, posteriormente, como peças irrelevantes de grandes engrenagens pensadas para perpetuar o ódio ao negro e torná-lo uma peça igualmente irrelevante na sociedade em que vive

Growing neural gas as a memory mechanism of a heuristic to solve a community detection problem in networks

Iterative heuristics are commonly used to address combinatorial optimization problems. However, to meet both robustness and efficiency with these methods when their iterations are independent, it is necessary to consider a high number of iterations or to include local search-based strategies in them. Both approaches are very time-consuming and, consequently, not efficient for medium and large-scale instances of combinatorial optimization problems. In particular, the community detection problem in networks is well-known due to the instances with hundreds to thousands of vertices. In the literature, the heuristics to detect communities in networks that use a local search are those that achieve the partitions with the best solution values. Nevertheless, they are not suitable to tackle medium to large scale networks. This paper presents an adaptive heuristic, named GNGClus, that uses the neural network Growing Neural Gas to play the role of memory mechanism. The computational experiment with LFR networks indicates that the proposed strategy significantly outperformed the same solution method with no memory mechanism. In addition, GNGClus was very competitive with a version of the heuristic that employs an elite set of solutions to guide the solution search. (C) 2016 The Authors. Optimal Time-dependent Sequenced Route Queries in Road Networks

In this paper we present an algorithm for optimal processing of time-dependent sequenced route queries in road networks, i.e., given a road network where the travel time over an edge is time-dependent and a given ordered list of categories of interest, we find the fastest route between an origin and destination that passes through a sequence of points of interest belonging to each of the specified categories of interest. For instance, considering a city road network at a given departure time, one can find the fastest route between one's work and his/her home, passing through a bank, a supermarket and a restaurant, in this order. The main contribution of our work is the consideration of the time dependency of the network, a realistic characteristic of urban road networks, which has not been considered previously when addressing the optimal sequenced route query. Our approach uses the A* search paradigm that is equipped with an admissible heuristic function, thus guaranteed to yield the optimal solution, along with a pruning scheme for further reducing the search space. In order to compare our proposal we extended a previously proposed solution aimed at non-time dependent sequenced route queries, enabling it to deal with the time-dependency. Our experiments using real and synthetic data sets have shown our proposed solution to be up to two orders of magnitude faster than the temporally extended previous solution.Comment: 10 pages, 12 figures To be published as a short paper in the 23rd ACM SIGSPATIA

Effect of matching microalgal strains origin and regional weather condition on biomass productivity in environmental photobioreactors

It is generally assumed that increased microalgal biomass productivity on any particular geographical site would be most likely achieved by strains native to that region. However, direct assessment of that hypothesis remains challenging. Here we isolated and biochemically characterized twenty-six microalgal strains from one of the regions with the highest irradiances of the planet. Biomass and lipids productivity of phylogenetically-close Scenedesmus strains native to regions of contrasting irradiances performed similarly under laboratory culture conditions. Culture simulations in environmental photobioreactors, mimicking regional weather conditions, broadly showed physiological responses of these strains according to their origin. However, under the mean weather conditions of a predicted highly productive region, an exotic strain from a lower irradiance zone resulted 40% more productive than a phylogenetically close-relative native strain. These results challenge the generalized view of the convenience of using native microalgae to increase productivity and broadens the discussion towards alternative scenarios.Fil: Coronel, Camila Denise. Representações de papel: uma coleção de postais e seus significados (1900-1939)

Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas, Programa de Pós-Graduação em História, Florianópolis, 2016.O presente trabalho analisa uma coleção privada de 299 cartões postais compilados entre os anos de 1900 e 1939. A família colecionadora era natural do Rio de Janeiro e graças à profissão de seu patriarca, que faleceu com a patente de Contra-Almirante da Marinha do Brasil, viajou por diversos países europeus. Estiveram também muito provavelmente na África, adquirindo e recebendo postais de diversas localidades estrangeiras, que foram acondicionados num álbum próprio para seu colecionamento. A existência de um álbum formado por cartões estrangeiros, especialmente europeus, num período em que no Brasil fabricava-se e consumia-se um número considerável de postais evidencia a vontade da família de conservar e explorar sua conexão com o velho mundo, nosso modelo de civilização. Os postais nesta dissertação são visualizados em sua totalidade, não apenas as imagens são consideradas na análise da coleção, também nos ajudam a compreender os significados desse corpus documental as mensagens recebidas, assim como remetentes e destinatários, quando lidamos com correspondência passiva da família. O status da coleção muda, de suporte de reprodução social, a conjunto de memórias e lembranças, e é claro fonte histórica, como mudam também seus proprietários, o que acaba por evidenciar tanto as trajetórias de seus respectivos compiladores e possuidores como as trajetórias dos próprios documentos, a partir de uma análise que não desconsidera o processo de guarda das cartas postais. Nesse sentido neste trabalho as escritas marginais são apreciadas como fontes privilegiadas para a compreensão de tempos e sujeitos históricos.Abstract : The present work analyzes a private collection of 299 postcards compiled between the years 1900 and 1939. The collector family was from Rio de Janeiro and thanks to the occupation of their patriarch, who died with the rank of Rear Admiral of the Navy of Brazil, traveled to several European countries. Probably they were also in Africa, buying and receiving cards of various foreign locations, which were placed in an album for your own compilation. The existence of an album made up of foreign cards, especially in Europe, at a time when in Brazil manufactured up and consumed a considerable number of cards shows the desire of the family to preserve and explore their connection to the old world, our model civilization. The cards in this work are shown in their totality, not just the images are considered in the collection analysis also helps us understand the meaning of this documentary corpus received messages, as well as senders and recipients when dealing with family passive correspondence. The status of the collection changes, social reproduction of support, the set of memories and souvenirs, and of course historical source, but also change their owners, which ultimately show both the trajectories of their respective compilers and owners as the trajectories of own documents from an analysis that does not ignore the process of keeping of postal letters. So in this work marginal writings are appreciated as privileged sources for understanding the times and historical subjects

Itiner?rio da produ??o cient?fica acerca do comportamento do consumidor LGBTQ

Individualized and personalized work opportunities, in this way, as marketing research focused on the behavior of its consumers contribute significantly to the development of goods and services. To do this, it is necessary to recognize how the particularities of individuals, in relation to everything that concerns consumer behavior, including ways to identify and identify themselves. The LGBT consumer is still somewhat exploited and like little ideas about the behavior of this group. Therefore, the objective of this work is to know the reality of LGBTQ consumer behavior of long ten years (from 1998 to 2018), in order to identify gaps and research opportunities. This is a methodology adopted for disseminating the work in a systematic journal and a bibliometric research, through the scientific production in the bases: Web of Science, EBSCO, Spell, Scopus, Revista Brasileira de Marketing (Remark), Revista Interdisciplinar de Marketing (Rimar ). Away from this research, it was observed that most of the objectives are focused on the LGBTQ. The evaluation of studies revealed a greater number of quantitative methodologies, and the results of the articles confirmed the LGBTQ market potential. It was noticed that the studies on the construct were highlighted in the year 2015 and there were only three periodicals with more than one article published on the subject. The news of publications by countries of prominence or prominence of the United States of America with publications, Brazil in second place. In relation to the representativeness of universities by federal unit of country, the greatest highlight was in the United States, with 12 universities of origin, with 4 universities.Cada vez mais o consumidor exige tratamento individualizado e personalizado, dessa forma, as pesquisas de marketing voltadas para o comportamento do consumidor contribuem de forma significativa para o desenvolvimento de bens e servi?os. Para isso, ? necess?rio reconhecer as particularidades dos indiv?duos, em rela??o a tudo que abrange o comportamento do consumidor, entendendo inclusive a forma como estes se reconhecem e se identificam. O consumidor LGBTQ ainda ? pouco explorado e as organiza??es t?m poucas informa??es sobre o comportamento desse grupo. Portanto, o objetivo do trabalho ? conhecer a evolu??o dos estudos sobre comportamento do consumidor LGBTQ dos ?ltimos dez anos (de 1998 a 2018), de modo a identificar lacunas e oportunidades de pesquisa. A metodologia adotada para a realiza??o desse trabalho se dividiu em uma revis?o sistem?tica e uma pesquisa bibliom?trica, atrav?s da produ??o cient?fica captada nas bases: Web of Science, EBSCO, Spell, Scopus, Revista Brasileira de Marketing (Remark), Revista Interdisciplinar de Marketing (Rimar). A partir desta pesquisa, observou-se que a maioria dos objetivos foram voltados em entender e conhecer o perfil do consumidor LGBTQ. Para a realiza??o dos estudos, constatou-se um numero maior de metodologias quantitativas, e como resultados os artigos confirmaram o potencial de mercado LGBTQ. Percebeu-se que os estudos sobre o constructo tiveram destaque no ano de 2015 e houveram apenas tr?s peri?dicos com mais de um artigo publicado sobre o tema. Corpo e arte na performance escrita de Anaïs Nin

Este trabalho tem por objetivo explorar o universo artístico e as manifestações do corpo em contos de Anaïs Nin, reunidos nos livros Delta of Venus e Little Birds. A autora traz para seus contos a relação de personagens e cenários com diferentes linguagens artísticas para compor as histórias eróticas. Partindo desse pressuposto, o teor artístico é o cerne da minha pesquisa, tornando uma leitura de prazer em fruição, segundo a teoria de Roland Barthes (2010). O primeiro capítulo desta dissertação traz uma abordagem teórica a respeito da sexualidade, revisando tópicos sobre a manifestação do discurso erótico e pornográfico, o interdito na cultura ocidental e a condição das mulheres quanto aos corpos, as relações e a produção literária. O segundo capítulo aborda alguns conceitos de performance, no campo das artes, enquanto ação, e no âmbito literário, biográfico e crítico, em que o ato de escrever coloca em cena o pessoal e político. Apresento algumas informações sobre a vida e obra de Anaïs Nin e seu desejo de tornar-se uma obra de arte. No terceiro capítulo, realizo uma leitura de contos selecionados da coleção Erotica de Anaïs Nin em campo expandido, utilizando o conceito proposto por Rosalind Krauss (2008), dentre os quais destaco “Marianne”, “The Veiled Woman”, “Two Sisters”, “Hilda and Rango”. Além dos já citados, estudo as obras de Bataille, Foucault, Eliane Robert Moraes, Graciela Ravetti e outros autores como base teórica para esta dissertação. Concluo que, ao escrever sobre arte e erotismo com base nas próprias experiências, Anaïs Nin escreve como performer, colocando-se na própria obra de arte. Ao escrever sobre sua obra, realizo uma performance crítica em Literatura Comparada.This work aims to explore the artistic universe and the manifestations of body in short stories by Anaïs Nin, gathered in the books Delta of Venus and Little Birds. The author brings to her stories the relationship of characters and scenarios with different artistic languages to compose the erotica. Based on this assumption, the artistic content is at the heart of my research, turning a reading of pleasure into fruition, according to Roland Barthes’ theory (2010). The first chapter of this thesis brings a theoretical approach regarding sexuality, reviewing topics about the manifestation of erotic and pornographic discourse, the interdiction in Western culture and the condition of women regarding bodies, relationships and literary production. The second chapter deals with some concepts of performance, in the field of arts, as an action, and in the literary, biographical and critical spheres, as the act of writing puts the personal and political on the scene. I present some information about Anaïs Nin’s life and work and her desire to become an artwork. In the third chapter, I read selected short stories from Anaïs Nin's Erotica collection in an expanded field, using the concept proposed by Rosalind Krauss, among which I highlight “Marianne”, “The Veiled Woman”, “Two Sisters”, “Hilda and Rango”.. In addition to those already mentioned, I study the works of Bataille, Foucault, Eliane Robert Moraes, Graciela Ravetti and other authors as a theoretical basis for this thesis. I conclude that, when writing about art and eroticism based on her own experiences, Anaïs Nin writes as a performer, turning herself into her artwork.
