Stern-Gerlach Entanglement in Spinor Bose-Einstein Condensates
Entanglement of spin and position variables produced by spatially
inhomogeneous magnetic fields of Stern-Gerlach type acting on spinor
Bose-Einstein condensates may lead to interference effects at the level of
one-boson densities. A model is worked out for these effects which is amenable
to analytical calculation for gaussian shaped condensates. The resulting
interference effects are sensitive to the spin polarization properties of the

Mudanças morfológicas nas células de Sertoli durante o ciclo reprodutivo de machos do teleósteo Piaractus mesopotamicus (Holmberg, 1887)
An investigation of the histological and ultrastructural changes of Sertoli cells during the male reproductive cycle in Piaractus mesopotamicus was made. The results showed that the Sertoli cell development is closely related with germ cell maturation. Therefore, these cells may have some role in germ cell maturation during the reproductive cycle of this species, whether in forming a tissue framework for the developing spermatogenic cysts, aiding in testes reorganization for a new reproductive cycle, in addition to other possible functions discussed in the text.Realizou-se uma investigação das mudanças histolĂłgicas e ultra-estruturais das cĂ©lulas de Sertoli durante o ciclo reprodutivo de machos de Piaractus mesopotamicus. Os resultados mostraram que o desenvolvimento das cĂ©lulas de Sertoli está estritamente relacionado Ă maturação das cĂ©lulas gamĂ©ticas. Gravity localization on hybrid branes
This work deals with gravity localization on codimension-1 brane worlds
engendered by compacton-like kinks, the so-called hybrid branes. In such
scenarios, the thin brane behaviour is manifested when the extra dimension is
outside the compact domain, where the energy density is non-trivial, instead of
asymptotically as in the usual thick brane models. The zero mode is trapped in
the brane, as required. The massive modes, although are not localized in the
brane, have important phenomenological implications such as corrections to the
Newton's law. We study such corrections in the usual thick domain wall and in
the hybrid brane scenarios. By means of suitable numerical methods, we attain
the mass spectrum for the graviton and the corresponding wavefunctions. The
spectra possess the usual linearly increasing behaviour from the Kaluza-Klein
theories. Further, we show that the 4D gravitational force is slightly
increased at short distances. The first eigenstate contributes highly for the
correction to the Newton's law. The subsequent normalized solutions have
diminishing contributions. Moreover, we find out that the phenomenology of the
hybrid brane is not different from the usual thick domain wall. The use of
numerical techniques for solving the equations of the massive modes is useful
for matching possible phenomenological measurements in the gravitational law as
a probe to warped extra dimensions.Comment: 15 pages, 11 figure
Analytical results for a Bessel function times Legendre polynomials class integrals
When treating problems of vector diffraction in electromagnetic theory, the
evaluation of the integral involving Bessel and associated Legendre functions
is necessary. Here we present the analytical result for this integral that will
make unnecessary numerical quadrature techniques or localized approximations.
The solution is presented using the properties of the Bessel and associated

Is there a link between overactive bladder and the metabolic syndrome in women? : A systematic review of observational studies

We searched PubMed, Web of Science and The Cochrane Library with no date restrictions, checked reference lists and undertook citation searches in PubMed and Google Scholar. Role of physical activity, physical fitness, and chronic health conditions on the physical independence of community-dwelling older adults over a 5-year period
The variability in the individual characteristics and habits could help determine how older adults maintain independence. The impact of the variability in physical activity, physical fitness, body composition, and chronic health conditions (co-morbidities) on the independence of older adults, especially over time, is seldom examined. This study aims to analyze quantitatively the impact of baseline values and changes in physical activity, physical fitness, body composition, and co-morbidities on the physical independence of community-dwelling, older adults over a 5-year period. Data from 106 and 85 community-dwelling adults (!60 years) were collected at baseline and after five years, respectively. Linear regression selected the main predictors of changes in physical independence as follows: the baseline physical independence (b = 0.032, R2 = 9.9%) and co-morbidities (b = 0.191, R2 = 6.3%) and the changes in co-morbidities (b= 0.244, R2=10.8%), agility (b= 0.288, R2=6.7%), aerobic endurance (b = 0.007, R2 = 3.2%), and walking expenditure (b = 0.001, R2 = 5.1%) (p < 0.05). In conclusion, baseline physical independence, baseline co-morbidities, and changes in co-morbidities, walking, agility, and aerobic endurance predicted physical independence over five years regardless of age and gender. Gains of up to 8.3% in physical independence were associated with improvements in these variables, which corresponds to regaining independence for performing one or two activities of daily living
Hydrogen slush density reference system
A hydrogen slush density reference system was designed for calibration of field-type instruments and/or transfer standards. The device is based on the buoyancy principle of Archimedes. The solids are weighed in a low-mass container so arranged that solids and container are buoyed by triple-point liquid hydrogen during the weighing process. Several types of hydrogen slush density transducers were developed and tested for possible use as transfer standards. The most successful transducers found were those which depend on change in dielectric constant, after which the Clausius-Mossotti function is used to relate dielectric constant and density
