Leading Change through User Experience: How End Users Are Changing the Library

Cline Library is centrally located on the Northern Arizona University (NAU) campus in Flagstaff, Arizona. The library has a staff of sixty-two, and an additional forty-six student staff. According to the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, NAU is classified as “R2: Doctoral Universities—Higher Research Activity.” Founded in 1899 with twenty-three students, NAU is now a public university with over 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students who learn on campus and online, across the state and beyond. NAU has built a reputation for research and scientific discovery, and over 1,000 undergraduates present at the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium. From the beginning, NAU placed students at the center, and students are the driving force behind what Cline Library does. Through a strategic planning process now underway, users and staff imagine the future for Cline Library as a people-focused experiential learning environment, which is dynamic, is proactive to user needs, and promotes both individual discovery and creative collaboration. A critical study of the seven major Victorian pessimistic poets

The following thesis is a critical study of seven sig­ nificant Victorian pessimistic poets. Having as its basis a seminar paper for Dr. Lewis F. Ball in which four of the Victorian pessimists were discussed, the original study was expanded in order to include the remaining three. In this critical study, the emphasis has been placed mainly upon the themes characteristic of these pessimistic poets, and the poems that I consider to be the best examples of their various attitudes have been incorporated, either partially or in full, into the text of this thesis. Fur­thermore, though these chapters are not intended as critical biographies, some biographical facts have been included so that the poets\u27 lives can be seen as influencing their thought and work

The collection of stories recreates an impression of a lost time and place. In Howardsville Depot, the stories are set in rural Virginia and span the years from 1929 to 1969. While kernel situations are based in identifiable events, the stories explore the subtle dreams and aspirations of characters in the community which has the railroad depot as it hub. In Head-on Collisions, protagonists find themselves in inevitable situations provoked by their own limitations. The only choices are forced and evolutionary with no clear solutions

The relationship of hand-eye coordination as measured by the pursuit rotor and selected motor tasks at various age levels

Four groups of girls from grades three, six, nine, and college sophomores comprising fifteen subjects each, were given four tasks involving hand-eye coordination. Their raw scores on these tasks--Aiming, Throwing, Catching, and Pursuit Tracking--were used to determine if there was any significant relationship between the tasks for the total group, and between the tasks among groups. The means of each group were calculated in order to compare them for significance of difference using the Fisher's “t” for small, uncorrelated groups
