Presence of arthralgia exacerbates decreased quality of life in hidradenitis suppurativa patients
Hidradenitis suppurativa is characterized by chronic follicular occlusion that presents with recurrent nodules, inflamed abscesses, and scarring. Research has shown that these patients have a decreased quality of life. In addition to its psychosocial effects, hidradenitis suppurativa has recently been associated with joint pathology. In this study, we distributed a survey consisting of the Short Form 12 Health Survey, used for assessing health outcomes, along with additional questions about joint pain to an online hidradenitis suppurativa support group in order to understand the effect of comorbid arthralgia on quality of life in this disease. The respondents in this study had significantly reduced physical health composite scores-12 (PCS-12), (35.8 versus 50, P<0.001) and mental health composite scores-12 (MCS-12), (33.7 versus 50, P<0.001) scores compared to the general population. Additionally, patients reporting severe arthralgia had significantly lower PCS-12 (32.3 versus 36.5; P<0.05) and MCS-12 (33.3 versus 40.5; P<0.001) scores compared to those with mild arthralgia. Despite the effect of comorbid arthralgia on quality of life, only 11% reported having been asked about joint pain by their dermatologist. Routine screening questions concerning associated arthralgia and diminished quality of life may be helpful during clinician assessment and treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa patients

Maximum Angular Separation Epochs for Exoplanet Imaging Observations
Direct imaging of exoplanets presents both significant challenges and
significant gains. The advantages primarily lie in receiving emitted and, with
future instruments, reflected photons at phase angles not accessible by other
techniques, enabling the potential for atmospheric studies and the detection of
rotation and surface features. The challenges are numerous and include
coronagraph development and achieving the necessary contrast ratio. Here, we
address the specific challenge of determining epochs of maximum angular
separation for the star and planet. We compute orbital ephemerides for known
transiting and radial velocity planets, taking Keplerian orbital elements into
account. We provide analytical expressions for angular star--planet separation
as a function of the true anomaly, including the locations of minimum and
maximum. These expressions are used to calculate uncertainties for maximum
angular separation as a function of time for the known exoplanets, and we
provide strategies for improving ephemerides with application to proposed and

Units of Evidence for Analyzing Subdisciplinary Difference in Data Practice Studies
Digital libraries (DLs) are adapting to accommodate research data
and related services. The complexities of this new content spans
the elements of DL development, and there are questions
concerning data selection, service development, and how best to
align these with local, institutional initiatives for
cyberinfrastructure, data-intensive research, and data stewardship.
Small science disciplines are of particular relevance due to the
prevalence of this mode of research in the academy, and the
anticipated magnitude of data production. To support data
acquisition into DLs – and subsequent data reuse – there is a need
for new knowledge on the range and complexities inherent in
practice-data-curation arrangements for small science research.
We present a flexible methodological approach crafted to generate
data units to analyze these relationships and facilitate crossdisciplinary

Fidelity Assessment in Community Programs: An Approach to Validating Simplified Methodology.
Fidelity to intervention protocol is linked to best outcomes for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD; see Boyd & Corley [Autism 5(4):430-441, 2001]; Pellecchia et al. [J Autism Dev Disord 45(9):2917-2927, 2015]); however, fidelity measurement tools that are both accurate and feasible for community use are often not available. In this paper we explore methods for validated simplification of fidelity assessment procedures toward the goal of increased use in clinical practice. Video recordings (n = 36) of therapists working with children with ASD were coded using three variations of fidelity assessment methodology (trial-by-trial, 5-point Likert Scale, and 3-point Likert Scale), and the results were compared for exact agreement, mastery criterion agreement, and overall reliability. The results indicated overall a very high percentage of exact agreement (mean 99.44%, range 94.4-100%) and excellent reliability (mean Krippendorff's alpha [Kα] 1.0) between the trial-by-trial and 5-point Likert Scale across all components; however, the 3-point method may be viewed as being the more feasible strategy within community programs
