Effectiveness Of Life Story Book On Depression And Meaning In Life For Mentally Alert Residents Of Nursing Homes
Almost 50% of nursing home (NH) residents have a diagnosis of depression. Meaning in life (MIL) has been shown to be a protective factor against depression. Life Story Book (LSB) is a reminiscence intervention designed to provide a person with the opportunity to review their past and capture their history, stories, and photographs into a book. LSB has had significant effects on depression and psychological well-being for persons with dementia, but there is a gap in the literature for mentally alert NH residents. For this 9-week study, a quasi-experimental switching replication design was employed with two comparable NHs (NH-A and NH-B) and 21 mentally alert residents. The GDS-12R and the MLQ were used to measure depression and MIL respectively. Participants from NH-A (n =11) and NH-B (n = 10) had a mean age of 75 (SD =11.34). Many had some college or technical training (42.9%). Most were female (81%) and widowed (52%). Over half were non-Hispanic white (52%) and 33% were African American. The majority were Protestant (76.2%) and had been a resident for one-two years (57%). A comparison of the two groups using a one-way MANCOVA found no statistically significant difference on the GDS-12R and MLQ, F(3, 14) = 2.50, p = .102; Wilks’ Lambda = .652; η2 = .35. Although the results were statistically nonsignificant, the effect size was moderate. In light of the small sample size (N= 21), low statistical power, and meaningful effect size, replicating the study with a larger sample size is advisable.Social Work, Graduate College o
Tahun 2009 terdapat selisih anggaran belanja sebesar Rp. 95.735.271.217,62, tahun 2010 Rp. 61.329.077.260,00, tahun 2011 Rp. 157.837.732.725,00, tahun 2012 Rp. 189.330.495.775,00. Tahun 2010 terjadi pertumbuhan realisasi belanja sebesar 9,96% dibanding tahun sebelumnya, tahun 2011 sebanyak 13,05%, tahun 2012 sebanyak 37,74%. Untuk analisis keserasian belanja, tahun 2012 rasio belanja operasi sebesar 69,013%, rasio belanja modal sebesar 19,795%, rasio belanja tak terduga 0,004%, rasio transfer bagi hasil 11,188%. Tahun 2009 realisasi belanja sebesar 91,53% dari yang dianggarkan, tahun 2010 hanya sebesar 94,88%, tahun 2011 hanya sebesar 89,07%, tahun 2012 hanya sebesar 90,34%
Pemanfaatan Limbah Lumpur Padat (Sludge) Pabrik Pengolahan Kelapa Sawit Sebagai Alternatif Penyediaan Unsur Hara Di Tanah Ultisol
Family management and firm performance in family SMEs: the mediating roles of management control systems and technological innovation
The aim of this research is to analyze the mediating role of the use of management control systems (MCS) and the achievement of technological innovation (TI) in the relationship between family management and firm performance in family small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). A questionnaire was conducted by 617 managers of family SMEs in Spain, and our model was tested using partial least squares. Our findings show that both MCS and TI play crucial mediating roles in the understanding of the relationship between family management and firm performance. As a result, family-managed firms that utilize MCS and produce TI are much more likely to generate better performance. These results encourage family managers to use formal MCS because in that way they will contribute to obtaining better firm performance, directly and indirectly through TI. We focus on private family SMEs, because these specific firms contribute significantly to the economies worldwide. This paper contributes to resolve the controversy regarding the relationship between family management and firm performance introducing MCS and TI as mediating factors.AgĂŞncia financiadora

Measurement of performance limits in cryogenic heat pipes
This paper describes the results of an experimental study designed to investigate the fabrication and operation of gravity-assist cryogenic heat pipes. Two heat pipes were built, the first having no formal wick but a roughened internal surface, the second having spiral grooves machined with a specially developed tool. The wall material of the heat pipes was brass and hydrogen was used as the working fluid. The wicked heat pipe became operational over the entire temperature range from the triple-point to the critical point. The performance limitation depended on the operating temperature and the tilt angle. Axial heat flux densities of up to 50W/cm/sup 2/ were obtained. 15 refs., 9 figs
Normative Alethic Pluralism
Some philosophers have argued that truth is a norm of judgement and have provided a variety of formulations of this general thesis. In this paper, I shall side with these philosophers and assume that truth is a norm of judgement. What I am primarily interested in here are two core questions concerning the judgement-truth norm: (i) what are the normative relationships between truth and judgement? And (ii) do these relationships vary or are they constant? I argue for a pluralist picture—what I call Normative Alethic Pluralism (NAP)—according to which (i) there is more than one correct judgement-truth norm and (ii) the normative relationships between truth and judgement vary in relation to the subject matter of the judgement. By means of a comparative analysis of disagreement in three areas of the evaluative domain—refined aesthetics, basic taste and morality—I show that there is an important variability in the normative significance of disagreement—I call this the variability conjecture. By presenting a variation of Lynch’s scope problem for alethic monism, I argue that a monistic approach to the normative function of truth is unable to vindicate the conjecture. I then argue that normative alethic pluralism provides us with a promising model to account for it
