Quantitative and Qualitative Approximations for the Analysis of Territorial Production in the Recycling Sector in the State of Bahia, Brazil
This article is an epistemic attempt to correlate two lines of research - a quantitative and a qualitative one in order to corroborate that the recyclables market exhibits great potential in the state of Bahia Brazil It can be analyzed from the perspective of the category Used Territory developed by a Brazilian geographer called Milton Santos Furthermore aiming to reach this qualitative discussion we used the model called Shift-Share coming from the Regional Economy Esteban-Maquillas 1972 version We applied the employed person variable to calculate the components which generate growth for economic sectors and regions Thus it is possible to demonstrate the employability potential of the recycling sector in the state We could also confirm through Milton Santos s theory that this sector will be able to be part of the territorial planning in Bahi
Some apects of thermodinamic formalism of piecewise of smooth vector fields
In this paper we study some aspects of thermodynamic formalism, more
specifically topological pressure and, as a consequence, topological entropy
for piecewise smooth vector fields, using topological conjugation with shift
maps and the Perron- Frobenius Operator. Some relationships between entropy and
Hausdorff dimensions are also investigated
Ponseti Method: Does Age at the Beginning of Treatment Make a Difference?
The Ponseti method is reportedly effective for treating clubfoot in children up to 9 years of age. However, whether age at the beginning of treatment influences the
rate of successful correction and the rate of relapse is unknown. We therefore retrospectively reviewed 68 consecutive
children with 102 idiopathic clubfeet treated by the Ponseti technique in four Portuguese hospitals. We followed patients a minimum of 30 months (mean, 41.4 months; range, 30–61 months). The patients were
divided into two groups according to their age at the beginning of treatment; Group I was younger than 6 months and Group II was older than 6 months. All feet(100%) were initially corrected and no feet required
extensive surgery regardless of age at the beginning of treatment. There were no differences between Groups I and II in the number of casts, tenotomies, success in terms of rate of initial correction, rate of recurrence, and rate of tibialis anterior transference. The rate of the Ponseti
method in avoiding extensive surgery was 100% in Groups I and II; relapses occurred in 8% of the feet in younger and older children.

Baseline assessment of the reef fish assemblage from Cagarras Archipelago, Rio de Janeiro, southeastern Brazil
The extensive Brazilian coast comprises diverse reef fish communities. Here, we report a pioneer study on the reef fish community composition of the Cagarras Archipelago. This rocky reef system consists of a small group of coastal islands 5 km south off Ipanema Beach, Rio de Janeiro city, Brazil. A relatively diverse and disturbed fish community (99 species from 39 families) was found in this archipelago. Two different visual census techniques were utilized and a large difference was observed in the number of species compared to other Brazilian reef sites. Trophic structure and biogeographical affinities are discussed. The absence of some reef fish species, mainly top predators, suggests severe environmental impact in this area and exhorts the Brazilian authorities to create a marine protected area. Results obtained in this study will serve to future environmental studies in Cagarras.
Beyond good and evil: a putative continuum-sorting hypothesis for the functional role of proBDNF/BDNF-propeptide/mBDNF in antidepressant treatment
Depression and posttraumatic stress disorder are assumed to be maladaptive responses to stress and antidepressants are thought to counteract such responses by increasing BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) levels. BDNF acts through TrkB (tropomyosin-related receptor kinase B) and plays a central role in neuroplasticity. In contrast, both precursor proBDNF and BDNF propeptide (another metabolic product from proBDNF cleavage) have a high affinity to p75 receptor (p75R) and usually convey apoptosis and neuronal shrinkage. Although BDNF and proBDNF/propeptide apparently act in opposite ways, neuronal turnover and remodeling might be a final common way that both act to promote more effective neuronal networking, avoiding neuronal redundancy and the misleading effects of environmental contingencies. This review aims to provide a brief overview about the BDNF functional role in antidepressant action and about p75R and TrkB signaling to introduce the "continuum-sorting hypothesis." The resulting hypothesis suggests that both BDNF/proBDNF and BDNF/propeptide act as protagonists to fine-tune antidepressant-dependent neuroplasticity in crucial brain structures to modulate behavioral responses to stress.Peer reviewe
Haemophilus Influenzae Serotype A Septic Arthritis – A Rare Aetiology
