    Cosmic Ray Physics with ACORDE at LHC

    The use of large underground high-energy physics experiments, for comic ray studies, have been used, in the past, at CERN, in order to measure, precisely, the inclusive cosmic ray flux in the energy range from 2x10^10 - 2x10^12 eV. ACORDE, ALICE Cosmic Rays DEtector, will act as Level 0 cosmic ray trigger and, together with other ALICE apparatus, will provide precise information on cosmic rays with primary energies around 10^15 - 10^17 eV. This paper reviews the main detector features, the present status, commissioning and integration with other apparatus.     Determinants of Physical Activity Among Southeast Asian Adults: A Systematic Review

    Regular physical activity provides a lot of benefit to maintain good health and reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases. Recently Southeast Asia faces an epidemic of chronic non-communicable disease that responsible for 60% of deaths in the region. Physical inactivity has been reported as one of the causes related to non-communicable disease in adults. Research about determinants become as the first attempt to design intervention on physical activity. The attention to this topic has been widely spread in western countries, but not yet in Southeast Asia. This study aimed to gather knowledge about physical activity determinants and correlations from studies held among adults in Southeast Asia. Thus, it would provide an understanding about factors that related to Southeast Asian adult physical activity behavior and a guideline to extend study whywere some people active but some other not. This study used a systematic review by using PRISMA 2009. Online database (Pubmed and Google Scholar) was used to find a relevant article contain determinant, correlate, or factors affecting physical activity among adults in Southeast Asia countries. The result from 8 studies in Southeast Asia countries showed some determinants of physical activity such as socio-demographic factors, psychological factors (perceived benefits, self-efficacy, self-regulation) and health status. It showed that physical activity was associated with age, education, marital status, income, job characteristic and living in urban or rural. The perceived benefit, greater self-efficacy, and self-regulation obtained participation in physical activity. Moreover, diagnosis with hypercholesterolemia was also associated with physical activity. Understanding determinants factors could be a contribution for public health to design programs and policy that increase physical activity participation among Southeast Asians adults.     The purpose of this study was to determine carrying capacity and carrying capacity index of natural forage as ruminant feed, and to determine botanical compositions and forage production in the coconut plantation area, District of Taniwel, Western Seram Regency. Primary and secondary data were collected, and data collection was conducted by using purposive sampling method. Variables measured included botanical composition, forage production, forage carrying capacity, and carrying capacity index of natural forage. The results showed that 64,81% of forage botanical composition was grass, 26,47% was weeds, and 10,52% was legumes. The carrying capacity of native forage in the coconut plantation area was 1.515 ruminants for fresh forage and 1.177 for forage dry matter, while carrying capacity index of native forage was 2 indicating unsafety level of forage available for ruminant feeding

    Fallow deer (Dama dama Linnaeus, 1758) in the province of Rieti (central Italy): origin and first data on the competition with native red deer and roe deer

    The most recent literature describing the distribution and abundance of fallow deer (Dama dama) in Italy does not indicate the presence of this species in the province of Rieti. Some reports indicate the presence of the species in the middle valley of the river Velino. To test the reliability of those reports a field study was undertaken using three different techniques: fixed points census, line transects, and snow tracking. The area investigated was about 3,500 hectares. Given the topography of the study area these techniques were carried out opportunistically. Fallow deer were located, and the population was estimated to be about 70-90 individuals. Investigation in the Archives of the Provincial Command of the State Forestry Corps of Rieti allowed the origin of the population to be traced. The fallow deer escaped from a group of individuals reared on an estate called Santogna in 2001-2002. The animals came from the Presidential Estate of Castelporziano (Roma). The population of this invasive species is problematic because it dominates the native red deer (Cervus elaphus) and roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), and restricts their natural expansion

    Morphology of the tropopause layer and lower stratosphere above a tropical cyclone : a case study on cyclone Davina (1999)

    During the APE-THESEO mission in the Indian Ocean the Myasishchev Design Bureau stratospheric research aircraft M55 Geophysica performed a flight over and within the inner core region of tropical cyclone Davina. Measurements of total water, water vapour, temperature, aerosol backscattering, ozone and tracers were made and are discussed here in comparison with the averages of those quantities acquired during the campaign time frame. Temperature anomalies in the tropical tropopause layer (TTL), warmer than average in the lower part and colder than average in the upper TTL were observed. Ozone was strongly reduced compared to its average value, and thick cirrus decks were present up to the cold point, sometimes topped by a layer of very dry air. Evidence for meridional transport of trace gases in the stratosphere above the cyclone was observed and perturbed water distribution in the TTL was documented. The paper discuss possible processes of dehydration induced by the cirrus forming above the cyclone, and change in the chemical tracer and water distribution in the lower stratosphere 400–430 K due to meridional transport from the mid-latitudes and link with Davina. Moreover it compares the data prior and after the cyclone passage to discuss its actual impact on the atmospheric chemistry and thermodynamics

    Supersymmetric Extension of the Minimal Dark Matter Model

    The minimal dark matter model is given a supersymmetric extension. A super SU(2)L quintuplet is introduced with its fermionic neutral component still being the dark matter, the dark matter particle mass is about 19.7 GeV. Mass splitting among the quintplet due to supersymmetry particles is found to be negligibly small compared to the electroweak corrections. Other properties of this supersymmetry model are studied, it has the solutions to the PAMELA and Fermi-LAT anomaly, the predictions in higher energies need further experimental data to verify.Comment: 14 pages, 7 figures, accepted for publication in Chinese Physics C, typos correcte

    Pengaruh Pemberian Probiotik Kering Berbasis Susu Sapi, Kacang Hijau, dan Kedelai terhadap Performa Ayam Broiler

    Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh pemberian probiotik kering terhadap performa pertumbuhan meliputi konsumsi ransum, pertambahan bobot badan, dan konversi ransum. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada 6 Agustus hingga 6 September 2019 di kandang Test Farm, Fakultas Peternakan, Universitas Padjadjaran. Metode penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan lima perlakuan dan empat kali ulangan.  Perlakuan yang diberikan; P0: ransum basal, P1: ransum basal + probiotik kering A (susu sapi fermentasi 100%), P2: ransum basal + probiotik kering B (susu sapi fermentasi 75% + susu kacang hijau fermentasi 25%), P3: ransum basal + probiotik kering  C (susu sapi fermentasi 75% + susu kedelai fermentasi 25%), dan P4: ransum basal + probiotik kering D (susu sapi fermentasi 50% + susu kacang hijau fermentasi 25% + susu kedelai fermentasi 25%). Setiap perlakuan diberikan sebanyak 2% dari total ransum. Probiotik kering mengandung empat bakteri asam laktat diantaranya Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Streptococcus thermophilus, dan Bifidobacterium bifidum. Hasil analisis ragam menunjukkan konsumsi ransum dan konversi ransum tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05) namun adanya perbaikan, sedangkan pertambahan bobot badan menunjukkan perbedaan yang nyata (P<0,05) meningkatkan, artinya penambahan probiotik kering mampu meningkatkan kecernaan dan efesiensi pencernaan. Kesimpulannya penggunaan probiotik kering mampu meningkatkan performa pertumbuhan
