In this note, we announce the results of our investigation on the Dixmier trace and the Wodzicki residue for pseudo-differential operators on compact manifolds. We give formulae for the Dixmier trace and the non-commutative residue (also called Wodzicki’s residue) of invariant pseudo-differential operators on compact manifolds with or without boundary. For every closed manifold, the notion of global symbol for invariant pseudo-differential operators will be based on the Fourier analysis associated to every elliptic and positive operator (developed by M. Ruzhansky, V. Turunen and J. Delgado). In particular, for each compact Lie group we will use its representation theory. For the analysis of operators on compact manifolds with boundary, we will use the non-harmonic analysis associated with boundary valued problems (developed by M. Ruzhansky, N. Tokmagambetov, and J. Delgado).En esta nota se anuncian los resultados de nuestra investigación sobre la traza de Dixmier y el residuo de Wodzicki para operadores pseudodiferenciales sobre variedades compactas.

THERMOGRAVIMETRIC ANALYSIS OF THERMAL AND KINETIC BEHAVIOR OF ACACIA MANGIUM WOOD

    Get PDF
Thermogravimetric analysis was used to study the thermal behavior of Acacia mangium wood under inert atmosphere at heating rates ranging from 5 to 15C min -1, from room temperature to 800C. Weight losses of A. mangium wood in inert atmosphere were found to occur in three stages. These three states are generally associated with the decomposition of the three main components of the lignocellulosic materials. Most decomposition occurred in the range of 300-400C (80% weight approximately). The kinetic parameters of the process were evaluated using the independent parallel reaction model, attributed to the three main components of lignocellulosic materials: hemicelluloses, cellulose, and lignin. The values of activation energy, preexponential factor, and contribution factor were similar to those reported in other studies for this type of biomass. The model proposed predicted an acceptable correlation between the experimental and the calculated curve to the decomposition of A. mangium, with an error of less than 3% of deviation in the temperature range studied

The impact of public research contracts on scientific productivity

We analyse a competitive research-oriented public programme established in Spain, the Ramon y Cajal Programme, intended to offer contracts in public research centres to high-quality researchers. We study the effects of the programme on the ex post scientific productivity of its recipients, relative to non-granted applicants with comparable curricula at the time of application. The full sample results demonstrate that the programme has a positive and significant effect on the scientific productivity of the recipients, as measured both by the amount of published contribution and by the impact of their publications. Consequently, receiving a contract affects the quantity, but also increases the quality, of the contract recipients' publications.Research funding from the Ministry of Finance and Competitiveness, Grant Nos. Na raw montmorillonite (Mt) and two organomontmorillonites (OMt) with different hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (HDTMABr) was used to adsorb Cu2+. TheCu2+ adsorption isotherms were performed, and Langmuir, Freundlich and SIPS mathematical models were evaluated.According to the R2 term, the experimental data were appropriately described by SIPS models for all the samples.Thermal analysis of the OMt adsorbents and their Cu2+ adsorbed products indicated that HDTMA was associated with cation exchange and Van der Waals interactions to the Mt surface. The decrease of the de-surfactant temperaturemainly for MH0.5-Cu respect to MH0.5 sample would indicate a weaker Van der Waals interactions of alkyl chains at the external surface by the Cu presence. The Cu2+ and the HDTMA entrance at the interlayer of Mt was evidenced by XRDanalysis, where the cationic exchange process occurs. The zeta potential values behavior evidenced the importance of the external surface participation in the Cu2+ adsorption mainly for OMt samples.Fil: Fernández Morantes, César. Analysis of MBLOCA and LBLOCA success criteria in VVER-1000/V320 reactors. New proposals for PSA Level 1

    Get PDF
The specific configuration of the safety systems in VVER-1000/V320 reactors allows a comprehensive study of the Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA). In the present paper, a verification of the success criteria of the event trees headers for the medium and large break LOCA sequences is conducted. A detailed TRACEV5P5 thermal-hydraulic model of the reactor has been developed, including all safety systems. When analyzing the results of all sequences, some conservatism is observed in certain specific configurations as the success criterion of some headers is not consistent with the classic PSA level 1. Therefore, new proposals for the LOCA event trees are performed based on a reconfiguration of LOCA break ranges and the use of the expanded event trees approach

    Crude Oil Desalting Process

    Get PDF
Desalting is a water-washing operation performed initially at the production field and thereafter at the refinery site for additional crude oil cleanup. Salt and water content specifications are even more rigid because of their negative effect in downstream processes due to corrosion, and catalyst deactivation. An optimum formulation concept is presented to describe emulsion breaking in desalting process. In the stabilization mechanism is accepted that water droplets are stabilized by the formation of a mechanically strong and viscoelastic film at the interface composed of asphaltenes. In the case of water-in-crude-oil emulsions, a balanced optimum formulation is attained by adding to the lipophilic natural surfactants contained in the crude oil, demulsifiers which are hydrophilic. The aim is to relate the nature and concentration of the added demulsifier products to the amphiphilic mixture at the interface. All formulation parameters, such as solvent, alcohols, kind and concentration of demulsifier, amoung others, can be explained for proportional and saturation regimens
