    The analysis of organizational and managerial innovations in system of personnel recruitment in LLC "Gazprom transgaz Tomsk"

    The relevance of this work is connected with innovative approach in system of personnel recruitment. The quality of staff became the major factor, which determines survival and an economic situation of the organizations in Russia. The main aim of the study is to analyse organizational and managerial innovations in system of personnel recruitment in LLC “Gazprom transgaz Tomsk”. Methods: monographic method was used for the study of the literature; interview was used for conversation with the psychologist of the organization for the purpose of receipt of necessary information; hypothetical method was used to develop recommendations for the study of the subject. Results. The analysis of organizational and managerial innovations in system of personnel recruitment in LLC “Gazprom transgaz Tomsk” is carried out, stages of staff recruitment are analysed. The authors also suggested the introduction of testing procedures to determine the personal characteristics of applicants - potential students of a technical university

    Spectral Control via Multi-Species Effects in PW-Class Laser-Ion Acceleration

    Laser-ion acceleration with ultra-short pulse, PW-class lasers is dominated by non-thermal, intra-pulse plasma dynamics. The presence of multiple ion species or multiple charge states in targets leads to characteristic modulations and even mono-energetic features, depending on the choice of target material. As spectral signatures of generated ion beams are frequently used to characterize underlying acceleration mechanisms, thermal, multi-fluid descriptions require a revision for predictive capabilities and control in next-generation particle beam sources. We present an analytical model with explicit inter-species interactions, supported by extensive ab initio simulations. This enables us to derive important ensemble properties from the spectral distribution resulting from those multi-species effects for arbitrary mixtures. We further propose a potential experimental implementation with a novel cryogenic target, delivering jets with variable mixtures of hydrogen and deuterium. Free from contaminants and without strong influence of hardly controllable processes such as ionization dynamics, this would allow a systematic realization of our predictions for the multi-species effect.Comment: 4 pages plus appendix, 11 figures, paper submitted to a journal of the American Physical Societ

    Comparing Ultraviolet and Infrared-Selected Starburst Galaxies in Dust Obscuration and Luminosity

    We present samples of starburst galaxies that represent the extremes discovered with infrared and ultraviolet observations, including 25 Markarian galaxies, 23 ultraviolet luminous galaxies discovered with GALEX, and the 50 starburst galaxies having the largest infrared/ultraviolet ratios. These sources have z < 0.5 and cover a luminosity range of ~ 10^4. Comparisons between infrared luminosities determined with the 7.7 um PAH feature and ultraviolet luminosities from the stellar continuum at 153 nm are used to determine obscuration in starbursts and dependence of this obscuration on infrared or ultraviolet luminosity. A strong selection effect arises for the ultraviolet-selected samples: the brightest sources appear bright because they have the least obscuration. Obscuration correction for the ultraviolet-selected Markarian+GALEX sample has the form log[UV(intrinsic)/UV(observed)] = 0.07(+-0.04)M(UV)+2.09+-0.69 but for the full infrared-selected Spitzer sample is log[UV(intrinsic)/UV(observed)] = 0.17(+-0.02)M(UV)+4.55+-0.4. The relation of total bolometric luminosity L_{ir} to M(UV) is also determined for infrared-selected and ultraviolet-selected samples. For ultraviolet-selected galaxies, log L_{ir} = -(0.33+-0.04)M(UV)+4.52+-0.69. For the full infrared-selected sample, log L_{ir} = -(0.23+-0.02)M(UV)+6.99+-0.41, all for L_{ir} in solar luminosities and M(UV) the AB magnitude at rest frame 153 nm. These results imply that obscuration corrections by factors of two to three determined from reddening of the ultraviolet continuum for Lyman Break Galaxies with z > 2 are insufficient, and should be at least a factor of 10 for M(UV) about -17, with decreasing correction for more luminous sources.Comment: accepted for publication in The Astrophysical Journa

    3C 220.3: a radio galaxy lensing a submillimeter galaxy

    Herschel Space Observatory photometry and extensive multiwavelength followup have revealed that the powerful radio galaxy 3C 220.3 at z=0.685 acts as a gravitational lens for a background submillimeter galaxy (SMG) at z=2.221. At an observed wavelength of 1mm, the SMG is lensed into three distinct images. In the observed near infrared, these images are connected by an arc of 1.8" radius forming an Einstein half-ring centered near the radio galaxy. In visible light, only the arc is apparent. 3C 220.3 is the only known instance of strong galaxy-scale lensing by a powerful radio galaxy not located in a galaxy cluster and therefore it offers the potential to probe the dark matter content of the radio galaxy host. Lens modeling rejects a single lens, but two lenses centered on the radio galaxy host A and a companion B, separated by 1.5", provide a fit consistent with all data and reveal faint candidates for the predicted fourth and fifth images. The model does not require an extended common dark matter halo, consistent with the absence of extended bright X-ray emission on our Chandra image. The projected dark matter fractions within the Einstein radii of A (1.02") and B (0.61") are about 0.4 +/- 0.3 and 0.55 +/- 0.3. The mass to i-band light ratios of A and B, M/L ~ 8 +/- 4 Msun/Lsun, appear comparable to those of radio-quiet lensing galaxies at the same redshift in the CASTLES, LSD, and SL2S samples. The lensed SMG is extremely bright with observed f(250um) = 440mJy owing to a magnification factor mu~10. The SMG spectrum shows luminous, narrow CIV 154.9nm emission, revealing that the SMG houses a hidden quasar in addition to a violent starburst. Multicolor image reconstruction of the SMG indicates a bipolar morphology of the emitted ultraviolet (UV) light suggestive of cones through which UV light escapes a dust-enshrouded nucleus.Comment: 17 pages, 14 Figures, accepted for publication in Ap

    The effectiveness of aerobic training, cognitive behavioural therapy, and energy conservation management in treating MS-related fatigue: The design of the TREFAMS-ACE programme

    Background: TREFAMS is an acronym for TReating FAtigue in Multiple Sclerosis, while ACE refers to the rehabilitation treatment methods under study, that is, Aerobic training, Cognitive behavioural therapy, and Energy conservation management. The TREFAMS-ACE research programme consists of four studies and has two main objectives: (1) to assess the effectiveness of three different rehabilitation treatment strategies in reducing fatigue and improving societal participation in patients with MS; and (2) to study the neurobiological mechanisms of action that underlie treatment effects and MS-related fatigue in general.Methods/Design: Ambulatory patients (n = 270) suffering from MS-related fatigue will be recruited to three single-blinded randomised clinical trials (RCTs). In each RCT, 90 patients will be randomly allocated to the trial-specific intervention or to a low-intensity intervention that is the same for all RCTs. This low-intensity intervention consists of three individual consultations with a specialised MS-nurse. The trial-specific interventions are Aerobic Training, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Energy Conservation Management. These interventions consist of 12 individual therapist-supervised sessions with additional intervention-specific home exercises. The therapy period lasts 16 weeks. All RCTs have the same design and the same primary outcome measures: fatigue - measured with the Checklist Individual Strength, and participation - measured with the Impact on Participation and Autonomy questionnaire. Outcomes will be assessed 1 week prior to, and at 0, 8, 16, 26 and 52 weeks after randomisation. The assessors will be blinded to allocation. Pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines in serum, salivary cortisol, physical fitness, physical activity, coping, self-efficacy, illness cognitions and other determinants will be longitudinally measured in order to study the neurobiological mechanisms of action.Discussion: The TREFAMS-ACE programme is unique in its aim to assess the effectiveness of three rehabilitation treatments.     Nova mutação no gene CASR em uma família com hipercalcemia hipocalciúrica familiar (HHF) e hiperparatireoidismo neonatal grave (HPTNG)

    A loss of calcium-sensing receptor (CASR) function due to inactivating mutations can cause familial hypocalciuric hypercalcemia (FHH) or neonatal severe hyperparathyroidism (NSHPT). NSHPT represents the most severe expression of FHH and courses as a life-threatening condition. The aim of this study was to identify and characterize a CASR mutation in a female infant brought to the health service due to dehydration, apathy, lack of breast feeding and severe hypercalcemia. Molecular analysis was performed on genomic DNA of the index case and her parents. A novel homozygous mutation (p.E519X) in CASR was identified in the proband; both mother and father had the same mutation in heterozygous state, confirming their FHH condition. The mutation results in a truncated and inactive protein due to the lack of transmembrane and intracellular domains. The identification of this novel CASR gene mutation established the basis of hypercalcemia in this family and allowed a genetic counseling.Mutações inativadoras no gene do sensor do cálcio (CASR) podem causar hipercalcemia hipocalciúrica familiar (HHF) ou hiperparatireoidismo neonatal grave (HPTNSG). A análise molecular foi realizada a partir do DNA genômico do caso índice e de seus pais. Uma nova mutação em homozigose (p.E519X) foi identificada no caso índice; ambos, mãe e pai, apresentaram a mesma mutação em heterozigose, o que os caracteriza como portadores de HHF. Essa alteração resulta em uma proteína truncada e inativa devido à falta dos domínios transmembrana e intracelular. A identificação dessa nova mutação estabeleceu a causa da hipercalcemia na família e permitiu o aconselhamento genético

    Efficient laser-driven proton acceleration from cylindrical and planar cryogenic hydrogen jets.

    We report on recent experimental results deploying a continuous cryogenic hydrogen jet as a debris-free, renewable laser-driven source of pure proton beams generated at the 150 TW ultrashort pulse laser Draco. Efficient proton acceleration reaching cut-off energies of up to 20 MeV with particle numbers exceeding 109 particles per MeV per steradian is demonstrated, showing for the first time that the acceleration performance is comparable to solid foil targets with thicknesses in the micrometer range. Two different target geometries are presented and their proton beam deliverance characterized: cylindrical (∅ 5 μm) and planar (20 μm × 2 μm). In both cases typical Target Normal Sheath Acceleration emission patterns with exponential proton energy spectra are detected. Significantly higher proton numbers in laser-forward direction are observed when deploying the planar jet as compared to the cylindrical jet case. This is confirmed by two-dimensional Particle-in-Cell (2D3V PIC) simulations, which demonstrate that the planar jet proves favorable as its geometry leads to more optimized acceleration conditions

    Oxygen Isotope Effect Resulting from Polaron-induced Superconductivity in Cuprates

    The planar oxygen isotope effect coefficient measured as a function of hole doping in the Pr- and La-doped YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO) and the Ni-doped La1.85Sr0.15CuO4 (LSCO) superconductors quantitatively and qualitatively follows the form originally proposed by Kresin and Wolf, which was derived for polarons perpendicular to the superconducting planes. Interestingly, the inverse oxygen isotope effect coefficient at the pseudogap temperature also follows the same formula. These findings allow the conclusion that the superconductivity in YBCO and LSCO results from polarons or rather bipolarons in the CuO2 plane. The original formula, proposed for the perpendicular direction only, is obviously more generally valid and accounts for the superconductivity in the CuO2 planes.Comment: Dedicated to Alex M\"uller on the occasion of his 90th birthda

    This paper examines the traditional use of medicinal plants in Northern Peru and Southern Ecuador, with special focus on the Departments of Piura, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Cajamarca, and San Martin, and in Loja province, with special focus on the development since the early colonial period. Northern Peru represents the locus of the old Central Andean "Health Axis." The roots of traditional healing practices in this region go as far back as the Cupisnique culture early in the first millennium BC

    Tin telluride: a weakly co-elastic metal

    We report resonant ultrasound spectroscopy (RUS), dilatometry/magnetostriction, magnetotransport, magnetization, specific heat, and 119^{119}Sn M\"ossbauer spectroscopy measurements on SnTe and Sn0.995_{0.995}Cr0.005_{0.005}Te. Hall measurements at T=77T=77 K indicate that our Bridgman-grown single crystals have a pp-type carrier concentration of 3.4×10193.4 \times 10^{19} cm3^{-3} and that our Cr-doped crystals have an nn-type concentration of 5.8×10225.8 \times 10^{22} cm3^{-3}. Although our SnTe crystals are diamagnetic over the temperature range 2KT1100K2\, \text{K} \leq T \leq 1100\, \text{K}, the Cr-doped crystals are room temperature ferromagnets with a Curie temperature of 294 K. For each sample type, three-terminal capacitive dilatometry measurements detect a subtle 0.5 micron distortion at Tc85T_c \approx 85 K. Whereas our RUS measurements on SnTe show elastic hardening near the structural transition, pointing to co-elastic behavior, similar measurements on Sn0.995_{0.995}Cr0.005_{0.005}Te show a pronounced softening, pointing to ferroelastic behavior. Effective Debye temperature, θD\theta_D, values of SnTe obtained from 119^{119}Sn M\"ossbauer studies show a hardening of phonons in the range 60--115K (θD\theta_D = 162K) as compared with the 100--300K range (θD\theta_D = 150K). In addition, a precursor softening extending over approximately 100 K anticipates this collapse at the critical temperature, and quantitative analysis over three decades of its reduced modulus finds ΔC44/C44=A(TT0)/T0κ\Delta C_{44}/C_{44}=A|(T-T_0)/T_0|^{-\kappa} with κ=0.50±0.02\kappa = 0.50 \pm 0.02 , a value indicating a three-dimensional softening of phonon branches at a temperature T075T_0 \sim 75 K, considerably below TcT_c. We suggest that the differences in these two types of elastic behaviors lie in the absence of elastic domain wall motion in the one case and their nucleation in the other
