    Predicción de la reincidencia delictiva en menores infractores

Competencias Relacionales"The criminal recidivism is one of the main worries of our society and its prediction is an important need in the research field, mainly in minors (Andrews & Bonta, 2006). This study tries to analyse the internal consistency of the IGI-J questionnaire (Garrido et al., 2003), used by the psychologists and social workers of the Juvenile Court in Castellón. This study tries to determine the risk of recidivism of each young offender as well as the percentage of correct classification, assessing the questionnaire accuracy. In order to achieve this goal, 210 young offenders that have committed any kind of crime, were selected for the questionnaire. A follow up study of six months was carried out to assess the recidivism through their files, focusing in the ones who recidivate. Results showed good internal consistency of the scales, as well as a good percentage of accurate classification in predicting future criminal conduct.La reincidencia delictiva es una de las grandes preocupaciones de nuestra sociedad y la predicción de ésta, sobre todo en menores, conlleva una clara utilidad (Andrews y Bonta, 2006). Este estudio pretende analizar la consistencia interna del cuestionario IGI-J Inventario de Gestión e Intervención para jóvenes (Garrido et al., 2003), utilizado por el Equipo Técnico del Juzgado de Menores de Castellón, para determinar el riesgo de cada menor de reincidir, así como el porcentaje de clasificaciones correctas que predice el cuestionario, valorando su eficacia. Para ello, se han seleccionado 210 menores acusados de cometer algún tipo de delito o falta en Castellón, a los que se administró el citado cuestionario. Para valorar la reincidencia se realizó un seguimiento de los expedientes de los menores, durante un periodo de 6 meses, diferenciando a los menores que reincidían de los que no. Los resultados mostraron una buena consistencia interna de las escalas, así como un buen porcentaje de clasificación correcta de los casos en la predicción de la reincidencia del cuestionario

    Gelatin-based nanoparticles as DNA delivery systems: synthesis, physicochemical and biocompatible characterization

    The rapidly rising demand for therapeutic grade DNA molecules requires associated improvements in encapsulation and delivery technologies. One of the challenges for the efficient intracellular delivery of therapeutic biomolecules after their cell internalization by endocytosis is to manipulate the non-productive trafficking from endosomes to lysosomes, where degradation may occur. The combination of the endosomal acidity with the endosomolytic capability of the nanocarrier can increase the intracellular delivery of many drugs, genes and proteins, which, therefore, might enhance their therapeutic efficacy. Among the suitable compounds, the gelification properties of gelatin as well as the strong dependence of gelatin ionization with pH makes this compound an interesting candidate to be used to the effective intracellular delivery of active biomacromolecules. In the present work, gelatin (either high or low gel strength) and protamine sulfate has been selected to form particles by interaction of oppositely charged compounds. Particles in the absence of DNA (binary system) and in the presence of DNA (ternary system) have been prepared. The physicochemical characterization (particle size, polydispersity index and degree of DNA entrapment) have been evaluated. Cytotoxicity experiments have shown that the isolated systems and the resulting gelatin-based nanoparticles are essentially non-toxic. The pH-dependent hemolysis assay and the response of the nanoparticles co-incubated in buffers at defined pHs that mimic extracellular, early endosomal and late endo-lysosomal environments demonstrated that the nanoparticles tend to destabilize and DNA can be successfully released. It was found that, in addition to the imposed compositions, the gel strength of gelatin is a controlling parameter of the final properties of these nanoparticles. The results indicate that these gelatin-based nanoparticles have excellent properties as highly potent and non-toxic intracellular delivery systems, rendering them promising DNA vehicles to be used as non-viral gene delivery system

Un dels aspectes importants d’aquest procés ha estat l'obligació d’incorporar els treballs de fi de grau (TFG) a l’estructura curricular dels plans d’estudis. Aquesta tasca ha estat complexa i, a més, s’ha vist dificultada per la poca tradició que la majoria de facultats i escoles universitàries tenien en el disseny, l'organització i l'avaluació d’aquest tipus de treball. Uns quants cursos després d’haver-se posat en marxa els TFG, l’Institut de Ciències de l’Educació (ICE) de la Universitat de Barcelona va voler oferir als diferents centres de la UB una plataforma de reflexió i debat on poguessin compartir experiències, plantejar dubtes, analitzar models de bones pràctiques i recollir idees per millorar els seus projectes. A tal efecte, des de la Secció d’Universitat de l’ICE, es va organitzar la jornada «Els treballs de fi de grau a la UB». Aquest quadern recull les comunicacions presentades, sintetitza el debat que van generar i presenta les conclusions a què es va arribar

Uno de los aspectos importantes de este proceso ha sido la obligación de incorporar los trabajos de fin de grado (TFG) a la estructura curricular de los planes de estudios. Esta tarea ha sido compleja y, además, se ha visto dificultada por la poca tradición que la mayoría de facultades y escuelas universitarias tenían en el diseño, organización y evaluación de esta clase de trabajo. Después de varios cursos de haberse puesto en marcha los TFG, el Instituto de Ciencias de la Educación (ICE) de la Universidad de Barcelona quiso ofrecer a los diferentes centros de la UB una plataforma de reflexión y debate donde pudieran compartir experiencias, plantear dudas, analizar modelos de buenas prácticas y recoger ideas para mejorar sus proyectos. A tal efecto, desde la Sección de Universidad del ICE se organizó la jornada «Los trabajos de fin de grado en la UB». Este cuaderno recoge las comunicaciones presentadas, sintetiza el debate que generaron y presenta las conclusiones a que se llegó.[eng] The phase-in of undergraduate degrees conforming to the guidelines of the European Higher Education Area has been a challenge for universities as far as their training projects are concerned. An important aspect of this process was the need to incorporate the Bachelor’s Degree Final Project (TFG) to the structure of their curricula. This task has been complex and been hampered also by the lack of tradition that most faculties and university colleges had in the design, organization and evaluation of these types of project. Several years after launching the TFG, the Institute of Education Sciences (ICE) of the University of Barcelona (UB) organized the «The Bachelor’s Degree Final Project» conference to offer different centres of the UB a space for reflection and debate to be able to share experiences, ask questions, analyse models of good practices and gather ideas for improving their projects. The present booklet includes papers, summarizes the debate that many and varied contributions generated and outlines the final conclusions reached at this conference

    Using Interpretable Machine Learning to Identify Baseline Predictive Factors of Remission and Drug Durability in Crohn’s Disease Patients on Ustekinumab

    Ustekinumab has shown efficacy in Crohn's Disease (CD) patients. To identify patient profiles of those who benefit the most from this treatment would help to position this drug in the therapeutic paradigm of CD and generate hypotheses for future trials. The objective of this analysis was to determine whether baseline patient characteristics are predictive of remission and the drug durability of ustekinumab, and whether its positioning with respect to prior use of biologics has a significant effect after correcting for disease severity and phenotype at baseline using interpretable machine learning. Patients' data from SUSTAIN, a retrospective multicenter single-arm cohort study, were used. Disease phenotype, baseline laboratory data, and prior treatment characteristics were documented. Clinical remission was defined as the Harvey Bradshaw Index <= 4 and was tracked longitudinally. Drug durability was defined as the time until a patient discontinued treatment. A total of 439 participants from 60 centers were included and a total of 20 baseline covariates considered. Less exposure to previous biologics had a positive effect on remission, even after controlling for baseline disease severity using a non-linear, additive, multivariable model. Additionally, age, body mass index, and fecal calprotectin at baseline were found to be statistically significant as independent negative risk factors for both remission and drug survival, with further risk factors identified for remission

    Long-Term Real-World Effectiveness and Safety of Ustekinumab in Crohn’s Disease Patients: The SUSTAIN Study

    Background Large real-world-evidence studies are required to confirm the durability of response, effectiveness, and safety of ustekinumab in Crohn’s disease (CD) patients in real-world clinical practice. Methods A retrospective, multicentre study was conducted in Spain in patients with active CD who had received ≥1 intravenous dose of ustekinumab for ≥6 months. Primary outcome was ustekinumab retention rate; secondary outcomes were to identify predictive factors for drug retention, short-term remission (week 16), loss of response and predictive factors for short-term efficacy and loss of response, and ustekinumab safety. Results A total of 463 patients were included. Mean baseline Harvey-Bradshaw Index was 8.4. A total of 447 (96.5%) patients had received prior biologic therapy, 141 (30.5%) of whom had received ≥3 agents. In addition, 35.2% received concomitant immunosuppressants, and 47.1% had ≥1 abdominal surgery. At week 16, 56% had remission, 70% had response, and 26.1% required dose escalation or intensification; of these, 24.8% did not subsequently reduce dose. After a median follow-up of 15 months, 356 (77%) patients continued treatment. The incidence rate of ustekinumab discontinuation was 18% per patient-year of follow-up. Previous intestinal surgery and concomitant steroid treatment were associated with higher risk of ustekinumab discontinuation, while a maintenance schedule every 12 weeks had a lower risk; neither concomitant immunosuppressants nor the number of previous biologics were associated with ustekinumab discontinuation risk. Fifty adverse events were reported in 39 (8.4%) patients; 4 of them were severe (2 infections, 1 malignancy, and 1 fever). Conclusions Ustekinumab is effective and safe as short- and long-term treatment in a refractory cohort of CD patients in real-world clinical practice

    A facility and community-based assessment of scabies in rural Malawi.

    Background Scabies is a neglected tropical disease of the skin, causing severe itching, stigmatizing skin lesions and systemic complications. Since 2015, the DerMalawi project provide an integrated skin diseases clinics and Tele-dermatology care in Malawi. Clinic based data suggested a progressive increase in scabies cases observed. To better identify and treat individuals with scabies in the region, we shifted from a clinic-based model to a community based outreach programme. Methodology/principal findings From May 2015, DerMalawi project provide integrated skin diseases and Tele-dermatological care in the Nkhotakota and Salima health districts in Malawi. Demographic and clinical data of all patients personally attended are recorded. Due to a progressive increase in the number of cases of scabies the project shifted to a community-based outreach programme. For the community outreach activities, we conducted three visits between 2018 to 2019 and undertook screening in schools and villages of Alinafe Hospital catchment area. Treatment was offered for all the cases and school or household contacts. Scabies increased from 2.9% to 39.2% of all cases seen by the DerMalawi project at clinics between 2015 to 2018. During the community-based activities approximately 50% of the population was assessed in each of three visits. The prevalence of scabies was similar in the first two rounds, 15.4% (2392) at the first visit and 17.2% at the second visit. The prevalence of scabies appeared to be lower (2.4%) at the third visit. The prevalence of impetigo appeared unchanged and was 6.7% at the first visit and 5.2% at the final visit. Conclusions/significance Prevalence of scabies in our setting was very high suggesting that scabies is a major public health problem in parts of Malawi. Further work is required to more accurately assess the burden of disease and develop appropriate public health strategies for its control

    La administración electrónica como herramienta de inclusión digital

    ¿Puede ser la administración electrónica una herramienta de inclusión digital? ¿Qué puede aportar la administración electrónica para avanzar en la inclusión digital? ¿Qué podemos hacer, cada uno desde nuestra actividad, para favorecer la inclusión digital? Estas son algunas de las preguntas que se formulaban los participantes en las III Jornadas sobre Derecho y Tecnología así como al XI Encuentro de Gobierno Electrónico e Inclusión Digital, celebrados en Zaragoza los días 23 y 24 de mayo de 2011. Cada uno, desde su perspectiva, trató de aportar ideas en esa línea que marcamos en la convocatoria del evento: «La administración electrónica como herramienta de inclusión digital». Estas aportaciones están recogidas en este libro, agrupadas en tres bloques diferentes. En el primero, bajo el título Políticas de inclusión digital desde la perspectiva de la administración electrónica, tienen cabida aquellas reflexiones sobre qué hacer para favorecer la inclusión digital desde la administración electrónica, con enfoques concretos en Brasil o Iberoamérica, o de tipo general, aplicable en cualquier país. En el segundo, el título Casos reales de inclusión digital desde la perspectiva de la administración electrónica reúne experiencias concretas llevadas a cabo en España y Brasil. Por último, y no menos importante, el título Inclusión digital desde las aulas universitarias recoge propuestas para fomentar la inclusión digital desde las aulas universitarias

Els treballs han estat realitzats manera individual per part dels estudiants dels grups M-3 i T-1 de l’assignatura Botànica Farmacèutica durant els mesos de febrer a maig del curs 2014-15 com a resultat final del Projecte d’Innovació Docent «Jardins per a la salut: aprenentatge servei a Botànica farmacèutica» (codi 2014PID-UB/054). Tots els treballs s’han dut a terme a través de la plataforma de GoogleDocs i han estat tutoritzats pels professors de l’assignatura. L’objectiu principal de l’activitat ha estat fomentar l’aprenentatge autònom i col·laboratiu en Botànica farmacèutica. També s’ha pretès motivar els estudiants a través del retorn de part del seu esforç a la societat a través d’una experiència d’Aprenentatge-Servei, deixant disponible finalment el treball dels estudiants per a poder ser consultable a través d’una Web pública amb la possibilitat de poder-ho fer in-situ en el propi jardí mitjançant codis QR amb un smartphone
