On the fermionic T-duality of the AdS_4 \times CP^3 sigma-model
In this note we consider a fermionic T-duality of the coset realization of
the type IIA sigma-model on AdS_4 \times CP^3 with respect to the three flat
directions in AdS_4, six of the fermionic coordinates and three of the CP^3
directions. We show that the Buscher procedure fails as it leads to a singular
transformation and discuss the result and its implications.Comment: LaTeX2e, 9 pages, no figures, JHEP style; v2: minor clarifications;

Differential geometry with a projection: Application to double field theory
In recent development of double field theory, as for the description of the
massless sector of closed strings, the spacetime dimension is formally doubled,
i.e. from D to D+D, and the T-duality is realized manifestly as a global O(D,D)
rotation. In this paper, we conceive a differential geometry characterized by a
O(D,D) symmetric projection, as the underlying mathematical structure of double
field theory. We introduce a differential operator compatible with the
projection, which, contracted with the projection, can be covariantized and may
replace the ordinary derivatives in the generalized Lie derivative that
generates the gauge symmetry of double field theory. We construct various gauge
covariant tensors which include a scalar and a tensor carrying two O(D,D)
vector indices.Comment: 1+22 pages, No figure; a previous result on 4-index tensor removed,

Empirical macromodels under test: a comparative simulation study of the employment effects of a revenue neutral cut in social security contributions
In the paper we simulate a revenue-neutral cut in the social security contribution rate using five different types of macro- / microeconomic models, namely two models based on time-series data where the labour market is modelled basically demand oriented, two models of the class of computable equilibrium models which are supply oriented and finally a firm specific model for international tax burden comparisons. Our primary interest is in the employment effects the models predict due to the cut in the contribution rate. It turns out that qualitatively all models considered predict an increase in employment three years after the cut. But the employment effects differ considerably in magnitude, which follows immediately from the different behavioral assumptions underlying the different models.
String cosmology from Poisson-Lie T-dual sigma models on supermanifolds
We generalize the formulation of Poisson-Lie T-dual sigma models on manifolds
to supermanifolds. In this respect, we formulate 1+1 dimensional string
cosmological models on the Lie supergroup C^3 and its dual (A_1,1 +
2A)^0_(1,0,0), which are coupled to two fermionic fields. Then, we solve the
equations of motion of the models and show that there is a essential
singularity for the metric of the original model and its dual.Comment: 17 pages, Appendix and three references have adde
An Equivalence Between Momentum and Charge in String Theory
It is shown that for a translationally invariant solution to string theory,
spacetime duality interchanges the momentum in the symmetry direction and the
axion charge per unit length. As one application, we show explicitly that
charged black strings are equivalent to boosted (uncharged) black strings. The
extremal black strings (which correspond to the field outside of a fundamental
macroscopic string) are equivalent to plane fronted waves describing strings
moving at the speed of light.Comment: 10 page
Poisson-Lie Duality in the String Effective Action
The symmetry properties of the bosonic string effective action under
Poisson-Lie duality transformations are investigated. A convenient and simple
formulation of these duality transformations is found, that allows the
reduction of the string effective action in a Kaluza-Klein framework. It is
shown that the action is invariant provided that the two Lie algebras, forming
the Drinfeld double, have traceless structure constants. Finally, a functional
relation is found between the Weyl anomaly coefficients of the original and
dual non-linear sigma models.Comment: 26 pages, LaTe
Generalized Kahler manifolds and off-shell supersymmetry
We solve the long standing problem of finding an off-shell supersymmetric
formulation for a general N = (2, 2) nonlinear two dimensional sigma model.
Geometrically the problem is equivalent to proving the existence of special
coordinates; these correspond to particular superfields that allow for a
superspace description. We construct and explain the geometric significance of
the generalized Kahler potential for any generalized Kahler manifold; this
potential is the superspace Lagrangian.Comment: 21 pages; references clarified and added; theorem generalized; typos

A Two-loop Test of Buscher's T-duality I
We study the two loop quantum equivalence of sigma models related by
Buscher's T-duality transformation. The computation of the two loop
perturbative free energy density is performed in the case of a certain
deformation of the SU(2) principal sigma model, and its T-dual, using
dimensional regularization and the geometric sigma model perturbation theory.
We obtain agreement between the free energy density expressions of the two
models.Comment: 28 pp, Latex, references adde

Generalized Kahler Geometry from supersymmetric sigma models
We give a physical derivation of generalized Kahler geometry. Starting from a
supersymmetric nonlinear sigma model, we rederive and explain the results of
Gualtieri regarding the equivalence between generalized Kahler geometry and the
bi-hermitean geometry of Gates-Hull-Rocek.
When cast in the language of supersymmetric sigma models, this relation maps
precisely to that between the Lagrangian and the Hamiltonian formalisms.
We also discuss topological twist in this context.Comment: 18 page
