Dissipative phase solitons in semiconductor lasers

We experimentally demonstrate the existence of non dispersive solitary waves associated with a 2$\pi$ phase rotation in a strongly multimode ring semiconductor laser with coherent forcing. Similarly to Bloch domain walls, such structures host a chiral charge. The numerical simulations based on a set of effective Maxwell-Bloch equations support the experimental evidence that only one sign of chiral charge is stable, which strongly affects the motion of the phase solitons. Furthermore, the reduction of the model to a modified Ginzburg Landau equation with forcing demonstrates the generality of these phenomena and exposes the impact of the lack of parity symmetry in propagative optical systems.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure

La investigación realizada tiene como título, aplicación de la metodología TPM para incrementar la eficiencia operacional de los equipos del proceso de tratamiento de arenas de molienda en una empresa minera Cajamarca 2021. La cual su objetivo principal fue. Determinar la influencia de la aplicación de la metodología TPM en la eficiencia operacional de los equipos del proceso de tratamiento de arenas de molienda en una empresa minera Según su propósito la investigación es aplicada de enfoque cuantitativo, pre experimental. En los resultados se determinó que los equipos fallan constantemente por fuga de solución por carcaza de bomba a causa del desgaste acelerado de los componentes internos. En el mantenimiento autónomo se elaboró fichas de inspección, ficha de orden y limpieza, y un diagrama de actividades; en el mantenimiento planificado se elaboró la ficha de inspección programada; en el pilar mejora del proyecto se cambiaron el material de los componentes incrementando su tiempo de vida, en el mantenimiento de calidad se implementó la ficha 3T, además se realizó capacitaciones; y en el pilar de áreas de apoyo TPM se evidenció ahorros de 863 379.24 dólares anuales con los pilares. La metodología TPM, incrementó la disponibilidad de 82% a 91%, el rendimiento de 47% a 100%, la calidad de 81% a 96% y finalmente el OEE incrementó de 31% a 87%

Influencia de las estrategias de marketing en las ventas de repuestos Motor`s Grau EIRL., en el año 2021

El presente estudio tuvo como finalidad evaluar la influencia de las estrategias de marketing en las ventas de Repuestos Motor`s Grau EIRL., en el año 2022., la investigación siguió una línea aplicada, mediante un diseño no experimental de tipo correlacional causal, se trabajó con una muestra de 100 clientes de la empresa Repuestos Motor`s Grau EIRL. Para medir las variables se utilizaron dos instrumentos de tipo encuesta los cuales se aplicaron a la muestra de estudio, el primero fue un cuestionario estrategias de marketing y el segundo fue un cuestionario de ventas. Los resultados encontrados en la investigación nos demuestran que existen una influencia fuerte entre las estrategias de líder, las estrategias de retador, las estrategias de seguidor y las estrategias de especialista con las ventas, encontrándose además una asociación estadísticamente moderada (p= 0,000 y R=0.458; p= 0,000 y R=0.512; p= 0,000 y R=0.636; p= 0,000 y R=0.672, respectivamente). Por último, la investigación concluye de manera general, aceptando la hipótesis de investigación, afirmando que las estrategias de marketing influyen en las ventas de Repuestos Motor`s Grau EIRL., en el año 2022; lo cual quiere decir que, mientras más estrategias de marketing se empleen habrá un incremento en las ventas de esta empresa

Patient Priorities Concerning Treatment Decisions for Advanced Neuroendocrine Tumors Identified by Discrete Choice Experiments.

BACKGROUND Patients with advanced neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) have multiple treatment options. Ideally, treatment decisions are shared between physician and patient; however, previous studies suggest that oncologists and patients place different value on treatment attributes such as adverse event (AE) rates. High-quality information on NET patient treatment preferences may facilitate patient-centered decision making by helping clinicians understand patient priorities. METHODS This study used 2 discrete choice experiments (DCE) to elicit preferences of NET patients regarding advanced midgut and pancreatic NET (pNET) treatments. The DCEs used the "potentially all pairwise rankings of all possible alternatives" (PAPRIKA) method. The primary objective was to determine relative utility rankings for treatment attributes, including progression-free survival (PFS), treatment modality, and AE rates. Ranking of attribute profiles matching specific treatments was also determined. Levels for treatment attributes were obtained from randomized clinical trial data of NET treatments. RESULTS One hundred and 10 participants completed the midgut NET DCE, and 132 completed the pNET DCE. Longer PFS was the highest ranked treatment attribute in 64.5% of participants in the midgut NET DCE, and in 59% in the pNET DCE. Approximately, 40% of participants in both scenarios prioritized lower AE rates or less invasive treatment modalities over PFS. Ranking of treatment profiles in the midgut NET scenario identified 60.9% of participants favoring peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT), and 30.0% somatostatin analogue dose escalation. CONCLUSION NET patients have heterogeneous priorities when choosing between treatment options based on the results of 2 independent DCEs. These results highlight the importance of shared decision making for NET patients

open9sì: The COVID-19 pandemic and its virus variants continue to pose a serious and long-lasting threat worldwide. To combat the pandemic, the world's largest COVID-19 vaccination campaign is currently ongoing. As of July 19th 2021, 26.2% of the world population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (1.04 billion), and one billion has been fully vaccinated, with very high vaccination rates in countries like Israel, Malta, and the UEA. Conversely, only 1% of people in low-income countries have received at least one dose with examples of vaccination frequency as low as 0.07% in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is thus of paramount importance that more research on alternate methods to counter cell infection and propagation is undertaken that could be implemented in low-income countries. Moreover, an adjunctive therapeutic intervention would help to avoid disease exacerbation in high-rate vaccinated countries too. Based on experimental biochemical evidence on viral cell fusion and propagation, herein we identify (i) extracellular pH (epH), (ii) temperature, and (iii) humidity and osmolarity as critical factors. These factors are here in discussed along with their implications on mucus thick layer, proteases, abundance of sialic acid, vascular permeability and exudate/edema. Heated, humidified air containing sodium bicarbonate has long been used in the treatment of certain diseases, and here we argue that warm inhalation of sodium bicarbonate might successfully target these endpoints. Although we highlight the molecular/cellular basis and the signalling pathways to support this intervention, we underscore the need for clinical investigations to encourage further research and clinical trials. FAK and talin: Who is taking whom to the integrin engagement party?
