From Service to Experience: Understanding and Defining the Hospitality Business
Failure adequately to define or understand hospitality as a commercial phenomenon has created a fragmented academic environment and a schizophrenia in the industry that has the potential to limit its development as a global industry. This article suggests that, by redefining hospitality as behaviour and experience, a new perspective emerges that has exciting implications for the management of hospitality businesses. A framework to describe hospitality in the commercial domain is proposed. This framework suggests a focus on the hostâguest relationship, generosity, theatre and performance, âlots of little surprisesâ, and the security of strangers â a focus that provides guests with experiences that are personal, memorable and add value to their lives
Discovery of a Radio-loud/Radio-quiet Binary Quasar
We report the discovery of a small separation quasar pair (z=0.586, O=18.4,
19.2, sep. = 2.3 arcsec) associated with the radio source FIRST
J164311.3+315618 (S_1400 = 120 mJy). The spectrum of the brighter quasar (A)
has a much stronger narrow emission-line spectrum than the other (B), and also
stronger Balmer lines relative to the continuum. The continuum ratio of the
spectra is flat in the blue at about 2.1, but falls to 1.5 at longer
wavelengths. A K' image shows two unresolved sources with a flux ratio of 1.3.
The different colors appear to result from the contribution of the host galaxy
of B, which is evident from Ca II and high-order Balmer absorption lines
indicative of a substantial young stellar population. New 3.6 cm VLA
observations show that the compact radio source is coincident with quasar A (B
is only marginally detected). We rule out the lensing hypothesis because the
optical flux ratio is A/B = 1.2 to 2, while the radio flux ratio is A/B > 40,
and conclude that this system is a binary. Moreover, the radio-loud quasar is a
compact steep spectrum source. FIRST J164311.3+315618A, B is the lowest

It is well-established that immunocompromised people are at increased risk of HPV-related disease compared with those who are immunocompetent. Prophylactic HPV sub-unit vaccines are safe and immunogenic in immunocompromised people and it is strongly recommended that vaccination occur according to national guidelines. When delivered to immunocompromised populations, HPV vaccines should be given as a 3-dose regimen
Associated Absorption Lines in the Radio-Loud Quasar 3C 351: Far-Ultraviolet Echelle Spectroscopy from the Hubble Space Telescope
As one of the most luminous radio-loud quasars showing intrinsic ultraviolet
(UV) and X-ray absorption, 3C 351 provides a laboratory for studying the
kinematics and physical conditions of such ionized absorbers. We present an
analysis of the intrinsic absorption lines in the high-resolution ( 7
km/s) far-UV spectrum which was obtained from observations with the Space
Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) on board the Hubble Space Telescope
(HST). The spectrum spans wavelengths from 1150 \AA to 1710 \AA, and shows
strong emission lines from O VI and Ly. Associated absorption lines are
present on the blue wings of the high-ionization emission doublets O VI
1032,1038 and N V 1238,1242, as well as the
Lyman lines through Ly. These intrinsic absorption features are
resolved into several distinct kinematic components, covering rest-frame
velocities from -40 to -2800 km/s, with respect to the systemic redshift of
. For the majority of these absorption line regions, strong
evidence of partial covering of both the background continuum source and the
BELR is found, which supports the intrinsic absorption origin and rules out the
possibility that the absorption arises in some associated cluster of galaxies.
The relationship between the far-UV absorbers and X-ray `warm' absorbers are
studied with the assistance of photoionization models. Most of the UV
associated absorption components have low values of the ionization parameter
and total hydrogen column densities, which is inconsistent with previous claims
that the UV and X-ray absorption arises in the same material. Analysis of these
components supports a picture with a wide range of ionization parameters,

Belief in conspiracy theories and intentions to engage in everyday crime
Belief in conspiracy theories is associated with negative outcomes such as political disengagement, prejudice, and environmental inaction. The current studies - one cross-sectional (N = 253) and one experimental (N = 120) - tested the hypothesis that belief in conspiracy theories would increase intentions to engage in everyday crime. Study 1 demonstrated that belief in conspiracy theories predicted everyday crime behaviours when controlling for other known predictors of everyday crime (e.g., Honesty-Humility). Study 2 demonstrated that exposure to conspiracy theories (vs. control) increased intentions to engage in everyday crime in the future, through an increased feeling of anomie. The perception that others have conspired may therefore in some contexts lead to negative action rather than inaction
