    Absorption spectrum of (H2O)-O-18 in the range 12 400-14 520 cm(-1)

    Get PDF
Fourier transform spectra recorded using (a) natural abundance water vapor, (b) (H2O)-O-18-enriched water vapor, and (c) (H2O)-O-17-enriched water vapor are analyzed. The ratio of intensities in three spectra is used to identify 927 lines due to absorption by (H2O)-O-18. Intensities and self-broadening parameters are derived for these lines. Using theoretical linelists, comparisons with previously assigned (H2O)-O-16 spectra, and automatic searches for combination differences, 747 lines are assigned. These lines belong to 14 vibrational states in the 3nu + delta and 4nu polyads. Newly determined (H2O)-O-18 vibrational band origins include 4nu(1) at 13 793.09 cm(-1), 3nu(1) + nu(3) at 13 795.40 cm(-1), 2nu(1) + 2nu(3) at 14 188.82 cm(-1), nu(1) + 3nu(3) at 14 276.34 cm(-1), and 2nu(2) + 2nu(2) + nu(3) at 13 612.71 cm(-1). These results are compared with data in HITRAN. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science (USA)

A calibration line list for 807-1167 cm -1 from high resolution Fourier spectroscopy of the 14NH3 nu sub 2 band

    Get PDF
A calibration list of 295 lines observed over the 800 to 1170 cm to the -1 power region is presented. This list is intended for use as a calibration reference for calibrating diode laser spectra. The transition frequencies were calibrated against the well established laser frequencies of CO2. The estimated uncertainty in the corrected frequencies is + or - 1x.0001 cm to the -1 power

Multi-Dimensional Range Querying using a Modification of the Skip Graph

    Get PDF
Skip graphs are an application layer-based distributed routing data structure that can be used in a sensor network to facilitate user queries of data collected by the sensor nodes. This research investigates the impact of a proposed modification to the skip graph proposed by Aspnes and Shah. Nodes contained in a standard skip graph are sorted by their key value into successively smaller groups based on random membership vectors computed locally at each node. The proposed modification inverts the node key and membership vector roles, where group membership is computed deterministically and node keys are computed randomly. Both skip graph types are modeled in Java. Range query and node mobility simulations are performed. The number of skip graph levels, total node count, and query precision are varied for query simulations; number of levels and total node count is varied for the mobility simulation. Query performance is measured by the number of skip graph messages used to execute the query while mobility performance is measured by the number of messages transmitted to maintain skip graph coherence. When the number of levels is limited and query precision is low, or when query precision is matched by the number of levels in the skip graph and total network node counts are increased, the modified skip graph transmits fewer messages to execute the query. Furthermore, fewer update messages are needed to fix lost node references due to mobile nodes

Increased Adenine Nucleotide Degradation in Skeletal Muscle Atrophy

    Get PDF
Adenine nucleotides (AdNs: ATP, ADP, AMP) are essential biological compounds that facilitate many necessary cellular processes by providing chemical energy, mediating intracellular signaling, and regulating protein metabolism and solubilization. A dramatic reduction in total AdNs is observed in atrophic skeletal muscle across numerous disease states and conditions, such as cancer, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, heart failure, COPD, sepsis, muscular dystrophy, denervation, disuse, and sarcopenia. The reduced AdNs in atrophic skeletal muscle are accompanied by increased expression/activities of AdN degrading enzymes and the accumulation of degradation products (IMP, hypoxanthine, xanthine, uric acid), suggesting that the lower AdN content is largely the result of increased nucleotide degradation. Furthermore, this characteristic decrease of AdNs suggests that increased nucleotide degradation contributes to the general pathophysiology of skeletal muscle atrophy. In view of the numerous energetic, and non-energetic, roles of AdNs in skeletal muscle, investigations into the physiological consequences of AdN degradation may provide valuable insight into the mechanisms of muscle atrophy

Monodeurated methane in the outer solar system. 2. Its detection on Uranus at 1.6 microns

    Get PDF
Deuterium in the atmosphere of Uranus has been studied only via measurements of the exceedingly weak dipole lines of hydrogen-deuteride (HD) seen in the visible region of the spectrum. The other sensitive indicator of deuterium in the outer solar system is monodeuterated methane (CH3D) but the two bands normally used ot study this molecule, NU sub 2 near 2200 1/cm and NU sub 6 near 1161 1/cm, have not been detected in Uranus

Lifetimes, transition probabilities, and level energies in Fe I

We use time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence to measure the lifetime of 186 Fe levels with energies between 25 900 and 60 758 cm . Measured emission branching fractions for these levels yield transition probabilities for 1174 transitions in the range 225-2666 nm. We find another 640 Fe transition probabilities by interpolating level populations in the inductively coupled plasma spectral source. We demonstrate the reliability of the interpolation method by comparing our transition probabilities with absorption oscillator strengths measured by the Oxford group [Blackwell et al., Mon. Not. R. Astron. Soc. 201, 595-602 (1982)]. We derive precise Fe level energies to support the automated method that is used to identify transitions in our spectra

A continuous non-linear shadowing model of columnar growth

We propose the first continuous model with long range screening (shadowing) that described columnar growth in one space dimension, as observed in plasma sputter deposition. It is based on a new continuous partial derivative equation with non-linear diffusion and where the shadowing effects apply on all the different processes.Comment: Fast Track Communicatio
