TCC(graduação) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Centro de Ciências Biológicas. Biologia.

Introduction: Leiomyomas are rare esophagus tumors, with 0.4-1% incidence of all esophagus tumors, being more frequent in medium and distal portions1. Only 5% grow to the point of being called giant tumors, measuring more than 10cm2. Symptoms usually begin on tumors equal to or bigger than 5cm. Objectives: The following case objectifies reporting a new therapeutic course of action to giant leiomyomas of distal esophagus. Case Report: VCA, female, 38 years old, presented retrosternal oppression for 4 months. Having realized a computed tomography (CT) on another service 5 days ago which demonstrated a tumor injury on the distal esophagus and suggestive of leiomyoma. Patient was submitted through endoscopy exam 4 months ago, for complaint of heartburn and mild dysphagia. It was determined a hiatal hernia of 2cm and mild gastritis. Patient was submitted to complete excision of tumor without mucosal lesion and reconstruction of the external muscular wall, by the video laparoscopic method. Hiatoplasty and partial esophagogastrogemorplication were associated. The anatomic pathological examination confirmed the leiomyoma, with 10x5x2cm. Patient evolved clinically in the long term without the appearance of the heartburn or dysphagia. The patient underwent contrast examination of the esophagus after 6 months and endoscopy and tomography for the following 4 years, all normal. The classic treatment of giant leiomyomas larger than 10cm, includes thoracotomy with esophagectomy. Considering that in 80% of the cases it is found in the middle and lower thirds of the esophagus, the videolaparoscopic approach by transhiatal route becomes possible3. The reconstruction of the external muscular layer is important to prevent a possible prolapse of the mucosa1. Also, the realization of the fundoplication in addition to avoiding the gastroesophageal reflux, allows the suture area of the esophageal muscular wall to be covered, increasing the safety in the treatment4. In services with experience in the surgical treatment of diseases of the gastric esophagus transition through the videolaparoscopic method, it is possible to perform with adequate safety the surgical treatment of the tumor lesions of the distal esophagus. The method provides the patient with greater postoperative comfort and prompt clinical surgical recovery

Introduction: Leiomyomas are rare esophagus tumors, with 0.4-1% incidence of all esophagus tumors. Visual Management (VM) is a strategy for making information clear and accessible, strongly related to the lean production principle of increasing process transparency. VM also presents a very important role in promoting effective communication and seamless collaboration among team members. It is not an end but consists of practices that improve production system performance. VM practices include both VM devices (the observable portion of a managerial system) and the non-visual work involved in producing information. VM system is a set of interconnected practices deliberately designed to facilitate information sharing. This set of practices must be complementary and have common purposes, which increases the impact of VM, in comparison to isolated VM practices. Therefore, VM seems to be particularly useful for supporting the management of construction projects that can be considered a complex sociotechnical system, in which many dynamically interacting elements combined with their wide diversity may cause unanticipated variability and asset resilience. Several studies about VM in construction have been developed. However, instead of being based on a sound theoretical basis, VM tends to be implemented in construction projects mostly through efforts made by trial and error, many times only copying applications from other contexts such as manufacturing. Hence, there is a need to broaden the development of theory building related to VM. Moreover, it is also important to find innovative ways of disseminating related concepts by active methodologies, such as serious games. The aim of this thesis is to propose a typology for describing and assessing VM in construction projects. Design Science Research is the methodological approach adopted in this investigation, which is based on three academic papers. The first paper develops the first version of the typology, extending the contribution of taxonomies previously proposed in the literature, by emphasizing the role of collaboration and communication, as well as the need to integrate VM practices into managerial routines and other practices. The second paper is focused on a serious game, named VM Game. It is a tool for learning and discussing a set of VM taxonomies regarding purposes, the role of communication, the role of collaboration, and requirements. The third paper devises some propositions to explain the role and impact of VM systems in construction projects, highlighting their purpose and how they support dealing with complexity. Therefore, the typology could be refined to a final version, with ten types of analysis divided into three main levels, from a lower to a higher level of complexity and context-dependence: VM device, practice, and system. The target audience for using the artifacts devised in this investigation is the academic community interested in advancing the prescriptive knowledge on VM, besides construction companies that use VM as a strategy for information management

Analysis of economic viability with the use of monte carlo simulation for microgeneration of photovoltaic energy

    Get PDF
A series of public policies are being adopted worldwide to seek greater participation of renewable energy sources in the energy matrix. Brazil is a country that has a predominantly renewable energy source, with hydroelectric energy being responsible for the largest portion, but with enormous potential to be exploited for solar energy. The objective of this study was to carry out an analysis of the economic viability of a photovoltaic matrix in the distributed microgeneration model from the residential consumer perspective. Through the Monte Carlo simulation, 10.000 iterations were performed and the NPV was calculated in each of them, then counted to recover the corresponding output probability distribution and verified the NPV probability to be greater than zero. The developed method has proved to be a reliable tool to support decision making and can be applied to several scenarios. The scenario adopted for the design of the photovoltaic system presented a 95.2% probability of returning with an NPV above zero and this makes it economically feasible. The main contribution of this paper is the replicability of the methodology used for other economic analysis studies
