Leishmaniose visceral no Brasil: revisitando os paradigmas da epidemiologia e controle

In the last 20 years, despite the known underestimation of cases, Brazil registered a marked increase in the incidence of visceral leishmaniasis. The main goal of this review is to reflect on some aspects of this zoonosis in Brazil and also to encourage the discussion in order to find more viable, effective and affordable strategies to be implemented by the Brazilian Leishmaniasis Control Program. The current situation of visceral leishmaniasis in Brazil might be seen as a paradox: the most important aspects of the disease are known, but so far the control of this disease has not yet been achieved. The current control strategies have not been able to prevent the geographical expansion, and even a rise in the incidence and lethality of visceral leishmaniasis. There is a need not only for a better definition of priority areas, but also for the implementation of a fieldwork monitoring system to the disease surveillance that could permit a further evaluation of the control program in areas where visceral leishmaniasis is endemic.Nos últimos 20 anos, apesar da conhecida subestimação de casos, o Brasil registrou um marcado aumento na incidência da leishmaniose visceral. O principal objetivo desta revisão é refletir sobre alguns aspectos desta zoonose no Brasil e também encorajar a discussão a fim de encontrar novas estratégias, mais viáveis e efetivas, para serem implementadas no Programa Brasileiro de Controle das Leishmanioses. A situação atual da leishmaniose visceral no Brasil pode ser vista como um paradoxo: os aspectos mais importantes da doença são conhecidos, mas o controle desta doença ainda não foi conseguido. As estratégias de controle atuais não têm sido capazes de prevenir a expansão geográfica, além do aumento da incidência e da letalidade da leishmaniose visceral. Existe a necessidade de uma melhor definição das áreas prioritárias, mas também da implementação de um sistema de monitoramento das atividades dirigidas para o controle e vigilância epidemiológica, o que poderia permitir melhor avaliação do programa de controle nas diversas regiões do Brasil

AtPIN: Arabidopsis thaliana Protein Interaction Network

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Protein-protein interactions (PPIs) constitute one of the most crucial conditions to sustain life in living organisms. To study PPI in Arabidopsis thaliana we have developed AtPIN, a database and web interface for searching and building interaction networks based on publicly available protein-protein interaction datasets.</p> <p>Description</p> <p>All interactions were divided into experimentally demonstrated or predicted. The PPIs in the AtPIN database present a cellular compartment classification (C³) which divides the PPI into 4 classes according to its interaction evidence and subcellular localization. It has been shown in the literature that a pair of genuine interacting proteins are generally expected to have a common cellular role and proteins that have common interaction partners have a high chance of sharing a common function. In AtPIN, due to its integrative profile, the reliability index for a reported PPI can be postulated in terms of the proportion of interaction partners that two proteins have in common. For this, we implement the Functional Similarity Weight (FSW) calculation for all first level interactions present in AtPIN database. In order to identify target proteins of cytosolic glutamyl-tRNA synthetase (Cyt-gluRS) (AT5G26710) we combined two approaches, AtPIN search and yeast two-hybrid screening. Interestingly, the proteins glutamine synthetase (AT5G35630), a disease resistance protein (AT3G50950) and a zinc finger protein (AT5G24930), which has been predicted as target proteins for Cyt-gluRS by AtPIN, were also detected in the experimental screening.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>AtPIN is a friendly and easy-to-use tool that aggregates information on <it>Arabidopsis thaliana </it>PPIs, ontology, and sub-cellular localization, and might be a useful and reliable strategy to map protein-protein interactions in Arabidopsis. This paper discusses issues related to social work on the basis of an analysis of the changes that are taking place in the contemporary world of labor. At present we are experiencing a new economic cycle and the emergence of a new social issue resulting from a new mode of production that has determined distinct patterns of capital accumulation. All these changes entailed a reduction in the role of the state, which has caused the establishment and growth of instability and fragility in the lives of Brazilian workers. Paradoxically, the governmental agenda has changed its priorities. Instead of guaranteeing mechanisms to implement policies of full employment and universal social policies, there has been a predominance of residual policies, which are either selective or focused on extreme poverty, as a mechanism to minimize the impact resulting from neoliberal policies. In fact, with the advent of such changes in the world of labor social workers are facing the need to develop new strategies of intervention, which require more professional competence and a better knowledge of new forms of management, rather than restricting their practice to the scarce social benefits. It is necessary to establish an indissoluble link between the profession, knowledge and reality, with includes an emphasis on investigative activities as tools for adequate social interventions. Key words: social work, neoliberalism, social policy.Este trabalho visa discutir questões relacionadas ao Serviço Social a partir da análise das transformações do mundo do trabalho na contemporaneidade. Atualmente vivemos um novo ciclo econômico e o surgimento de uma nova questão social resultante de um novo modo de produção que tem produzido no mundo contemporâneo diferentes formas no padrão de acumulação. Com todas estas transformações ocorreu a redução do papel do Estado, o que provocou a instalação e o crescimento da instabilidade e fragilidade na vida do trabalhador brasileiro. Paradoxalmente, em lugar de garantia na agenda governamental de mecanismos de implementação de política de pleno emprego e políticas sociais universais, ocorreu a supremacia de políticas residuais, casuais, seletivas ou focalizadas na pobreza extrema, como forma de amenizar os impactos resultantes da política neoliberal. Na realidade com o advento de tantas mudanças ocorridas nas relações de trabalho no mundo, o assistente social vem se deparando com novas estratégias de intervenção que exigem mais qualificações do profissional e maior intimidade com as novas formas de gerenciamento, não restringindo sua prática somente aos escassos benefícios assistenciais. Exige uma indissolúvel articulação entre profissão, conhecimento e realidade, o que atribui especial destaque às atividades investigativas como dimensão constitutiva da ação profissional. Estudo do potencial agrícola e não agrícola do município de Itacuruba, Pernambuco, Brasil

The goal of this research is to evaluate the agricultural and non-agricultural potential of an area, located in the semi-arid environment of Northeast of Brazil. It also aims to generate income and contribute to sustainable development and social inclusion. The area comprises the territory of the municipality of Itacuruba, located on the left bank of the São Francisco River, in the hinterland of Pernambuco State, and inserted in the Cabrobó’s nucleus of desertification. The research was developed from studies and analyzes on the agricultural and non-agricultural global potential made available by the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation - EMBRAPA. Based upon the existing information on natural resources, it was made land potential assessments for irrigation and agro-ecological potential of the municipality's land. Still based on the overall potential and knowledge of the local reality, the study indicated that the soils have severe limitations for agricultural activities. However, the conditions of water availability, insolation, winds and geographical location of the region enables the economic viability of other non-agricultural uses, such as aquaculture and poultry, both already being developed, and generation of solar, wind and nuclear energy, as well as the development of a hinterland sustainable tourism.A presente pesquisa objetivou avaliar potencialidades agrícolas e não agrícolas, no contexto do semiárido do Nordeste do Brasil, que promovam a geração de renda e contribuam para o desenvolvimento sustentável e inclusão social. A área de estudo escolhida foi o município de Itacuruba – PE, localizado na margem esquerda do Rio São Francisco, no sertão pernambucano, e inserido no núcleo de desertificação de Cabrobó. A pesquisa se desenvolveu a partir de estudos e análises de informações disponíveis sobre o potencial global (agrícola e não agrícola) disponibilizados pela Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária – EMBRAPA. Embasado nas informações existentes sobre os recursos naturais, foram feitas avaliações do potencial de terras para irrigação e do potencial agroecológico das terras do município. Ainda com base no potencial global e no conhecimento da realidade local, o estudo realizado indicou que os solos apresentam fortes limitações para atividades agrícolas. Porém, a condição de disponibilidade hídrica da região possibilita a viabilidade econômica de outros usos não agrícolas, a exemplo da piscicultura e avicultura já iniciadas, além de potencialidades para geração de energia de matriz solar, eólica e nuclear, assim como o desenvolvimento de um turismo sertanejo sustentável

Responsabilidade extracontratual estatal em face do erro judiciário e da prisão indevida

O presente estudo tem por objetivo a análise da responsabilização extracontratual estatal em face dos atos jurisdicionais, mais especificamente o erro judiciário ou prisão indevida, disciplinados no art. 5°, LXXV, da Constituição Federal. Para tanto, inicialmente será abordado o conceito de responsabilidade civil do Estado, adentrando na responsabilidade extracontratual estatal pelo erro judiciário ou prisão fora dos trâmites legais. Posteriormente, será feita uma evolução histórica sobre o presente tema, explicando as principais teorias da responsabilidade extracontratual do Estado, até se chegar naquela que foi contemplada na Magna Carta. Depois partiremos para a conceituação do erro judiciário e da prisão indevida, observando a extensão do dano causado. O trabalho será realizado com a exposição de opiniões doutrinárias sobre o respectivo assunto e a análise de acórdãos proferidos de acordo com o deferimento ou indeferimento do pedido indenizatório contra o erário, observando os motivos de fato e de direito que levaram a construção da decisão judicial.https://repositorio.uniceub.br/jspui/retrieve/36558/21345444.pd

Homography-based pose estimation to guide a miniature helicopter during 3D-trajectory tracking

This work proposes a pose-based visual servoing control, through using planar homography, to estimate the position and orientation of a miniature helicopter relative to a known pattern. Once having the current flight information, the nonlinear underactuated controller presented in one of our previous works, which attends all flight phases, is used to guide the rotorcraft during a 3Dtrajectory tracking task. In the sequel, the simulation framework and the results obtained using it are presented and discussed, validating the proposed controller when a visual system is used to determine the helicopter pose information.Fil: Brandão, Alexandre .
