Coyuntura económica y voto en España, 1985-1996*

El artículo presenta un modelo de popularidad para el Gobierno español entre 1985 y 1996. El modelo se ha elaborado con datos trimestrales procedentes de encuestas del CIS y de la UE y datos económicos procedentes de la OCDE y del INE. Los resultados enfatizan la gran influencia que tuvieron algunas variables de la coyuntura macroeconómica sobre la popularidad del Gobierno socialista, pero sobre todo la influencia que ejercieron las percepciones sobre esta coyuntura macroeconómica. Además, también se revelan las influencias de algunas variables políticas: el carisma del presidente, la adhesión a la CE, la guerra de Kuwait y el escándalo Filesa.The article shows a function of popularity for the Spanish government between 1985 and 1996. The model was developed with quarterly data from opinion surveys (CIS and EU) and from economic series (OECE and INE). The results emphasize several great influences over the popularity of the socialist government: the influence of the macroeconomic situation, the influence of the perceptions about that situation, and the influence of some political variables such as the president's charisma, the joining of the EC, the war in Kuwait, and the Filesa scandal

El descontentament popular per la inadequada gestió política dels governs espanyols entre els mandats 1978-2016 ha produït canvis ideològics en l'electorat espanyol, mai satisfet amb l'actuació de les dretes ni amb la de les esquerres. Disseny i implementació d'una aplicació amb tecnologies de missatgeria instantània

The main goal of this thesis is to design and implement an application using instant messaging technologies. The background will be a functioning client - server environment connected to a database. To achieve this objective, it is mandatory to take a full dive into the most used messaging technologies and get the necessary knowledge, including languages, frameworks or libraries, to be able to plan and code the project structure. The following pages detail the analysis and build process that has been taken in order to develop the application, having a functioning communication between the client and server side, including the database management, and being open to future maintenance and corrective operations.El objetivo principal de esta tesis es concebir, diseñar e implementar una aplicación mediante tecnologías de mensajería instantánea. El trasfondo de este proyecto consiste en un entorno cliente-servidor funcional conectado a una base de datos. Para alcanzar este objetivo, ha sido necesario profundizar en los protocolos de comunicación instantánea y obtener los conocimientos necesarios, incluidos lenguajes de programación, frameworks y bibliotecas, para poder planificar y codificar la estructura del proyecto. Las páginas siguientes detallan el análisis y el proceso de construcción que se ha llevado a cabo para desarrollar la aplicación, incluidos el cliente y el servidor, así como la gestión de bases de datos, y con mención al mantenimiento y a las tareas correctivas futuras. El resultado final consiste en un cliente basado en navegador web (que se puede replicar para simular una situación real con varios usuarios) que es capaz de establecer una conexión con el servidor y, al mismo tiempo, con otros clientes. Estos usuarios pueden crear salas de chat, públicas o privadas, e interactuar con otros. Hay que pasar un proceso de registro / inicio de sesión antes de entrar dentro de la aplicación y todos los datos se leen y almacenan en una base de datos.L’objectiu principal d’aquesta tesi és concebre, dissenyar i implementar una aplicació mitjançant tecnologies de missatgeria instantània. El rerefons d’aquest projecte consisteix en un entorn client-servidor funcional connectat a una base de dades. Per assolir aquest objectiu, ha estat necessari aprofundir en els protocols de comunicació instantània i obtenir els coneixements necessaris, inclosos llenguatges de programació, frameworks i biblioteques, per poder planificar i codificar l'estructura del projecte. Les pàgines següents detallen l'anàlisi i el procés de construcció que s'ha dut a terme per a desenvolupar l'aplicació, inclosos el client i el servidor, així com la gestió de bases de dades , i amb esment al manteniment i a les tasques correctives futures. El resultat final consisteix en un client basat en navegador web (que es pot replicar per a simular una situació real amb diversos usuaris) que és capaç d'establir una connexió amb el servidor i, al mateix temps, amb altres clients. Aquests usuaris poden crear sales de xat, públiques o privades, i interactuar amb uns altres. Coberta Experimental

Article de difusió de l'experiment dut a terme a la Coberta de l'edifici Mercé Rodoreda de la Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Aquest experiment, consisteix en la instal·lació i monitorització durant un any de 9 mostres de cobertes verdes, per verificar el seu comportament.There are many advantages which green roofs can provide existing buildings, such as: improved thermal performance, sound insulation, rainfall regulation, etc. Furthermore, they also offer the city itself numerous benefits; reducing the urban heat island effect, maintaining biodiversity and creating new green spaces for the people living and working there. Many of the properties of these green roof solutions have already been extensively studied in laboratories, but there are few experiments in which the behaviour of the various types of green roofs are subjected to real weather conditions, which are as variable as those found in the Mediterranean basin, and specifically in Barcelona, with its intense rainfall, periods of sporadic drought and abrupt temperature changes over short periods of time. For this reason we thought it would be interesting to track the behaviour of different green roof solutions “in situ” over the period of a year, converting the existing building cover into a “living-lab” allowing the verification of a series of parameters and the comparison of the various proposals under real outdoor conditions. This ongoing investigation which started in February 2015, has provided valuable information to both those involved in the project and anyone else who might be interested in such a solution. Ballot structure and satisfaction with democracy

This article analyses the influence of ballot structure over satisfaction with democracy. In line with previous literature, we hypothesize that some ballot structures - such as preferential ballots - generate more satisfaction with democracy than closed ones. Yet, we expect these differences to be especially relevant among the more knowledgeable electorate, since any open ballot structure requires more sophisticated voters. Using CSES surveys, our results do not show a clear and simple relation between ballot openness and satisfaction with democracy as some previous research seems to suggest. Our findings rather suggest a more limited effect. Preferential ballots and open lists are the only ballot structures that generate more satisfaction, when compared to most of the remaining ballot structures. Yet, this relation is restricted only among the more knowledgeable electorate. The liberty of choice that ballot structure offers only concerns a reduced portion of the electorate, namely the more politically sophisticated one

Las Funciones de popularidad : estado de la cuestión y principales debates

El artículo pasa revista a las investigaciones sobre la relación que existe entre la evolución de la intención de voto a los gobiernos y la coyuntura económica. Se constata que los ciudadanos suelen premiar con su voto a los gobiernos que mandan durante épocas de prosperidad, y viceversa. El artículo desmenuza la modelización que han adquirido estas funciones: qué tipos de variables han englobado, qué retardos temporales se han utilizado y qué valor explicativo han conseguido. Finalmente se entra en la discusión de los principales debates que las funciones de popularidad han generado: ¿influye más sobre el voto la evolución de las condiciones económicas personales del votante o de las condiciones macroeconómicas del país? ; ¿influyen más las evaluaciones del pasado o las expectativas sobre el futuro? En otro artículo inminente, los autores presentarán los resultados de una función de popularidad para el gobierno español entre 1984 y 1996.This paper reviews the research conducted on the relationship between the evolution of the voting intention and the economic situation. It notes that citizens tend to reward governments which rule during periods of prosperity by voting for them and vice-versa. This paper examines the way these functions have been shaped: the types of variables they encompass, the temporal delays/time lags used and their explicatory valué. It concludes by entering the principie debates which have been engendered by the functions of popularity: Is the vote more influenced by the evolution of the voter's economic conditions than by the evolution of the country's macro-economic conditions? Do appraisals of the past carry more weight than expectations of the future? In another paper which is about to be published, the authors will present their findings regarding a function of popularity for the Spanish government between 1984 and 1996
