Exploring the interplay of masculinities and homophobia in the high school climate
This thesis reports a qualitative analysis of heterosexual males\u27 perception of school climate for lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) peers. Fifteen semi-structured interviews were conducted with males 16-18 who have attended a public or Catholic secondary school. Findings indicate that gay youth often occupy lower status positions in the school\u27s social hierarchy. Heterosexual males did not typically want to associate with or be friends with gay peers for fear of being perceived as gay and being hit on . Verbal harassment against LGB youth was common and was reportedly not dealt with by teachers. Homosexuality was not addressed in the classroom. Perceptions around the phrase that\u27s so gay are explored. Dissenting views on homosexuality and popularity are also presented. Findings are discussed in relation to Connell\u27s theory of masculinity with emphasis on the performance of heterosexual masculinities. Recommendations include challenging hegemonic masculinity in schools through curriculum and other avenues
Misappropriation of Drawing Power (Free-Riding) in Trademarks
This Article advances the cause of action regarding the Misappropriation of Drawing Power (“free-riding”). It is a form of anti-dilution, along the lines of European Union laws regarding parasitism, and is analogous to other laws such as the protection of personality rights. It could also help settle long-standing debates in the trademark field, such as those regarding dilution by blurring, initial-interest confusion, comparative advertising, and whether and how to protect marks beyond the geographical scope of the plaintiff’s sales (such as protecting U.S. marks used internationally)

Evolution of Strigamia centipedes (Chilopoda): a first molecular assessment of phylogeny and divergence times
We present a first phylogenetic and temporal framework, with biogeographical insights, for the centipedes of the genus Strigamia, which are widespread predators in the forest soils of the Northern Hemisphere and comprise the evo-devo model species Strigamia maritima. The phylogeny was estimated by different methods of maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference from sequences of two mitochondrial (16S, COI) and two nuclear (18S, 28S) genes, obtained from 16 species from all major areas of the global range of the genus and encompassing most of the overall morphological and ecological diversity. Divergence times were estimated after calibration upon the fossil record of centipedes. We found that major lineages of extant species of Strigamia separated most probably around 60 million years (Ma) ago. The two most diverse lineages diversified during the last 30 Ma and are today segregated geographically, one in Europe and another in Eastern Asia. This latter region hosts a hitherto underestimated richness and anatomical diversity of species, including three still unknown, yet morphologically well distinct species, which are here described as new: Strigamia inthanoni sp. n. from Thailand, Strigamia korsosi sp. n. from the Ryukyu Islands and Strigamia nana sp. n. from Taiwan. The northern European model species S. maritima is more strictly related to the Eastern Asian lineage, from which it most probably separated around 35 Ma ago before the major diversification of the latter
This article aims to understand the challenges of learning assessment in the pandemic context. For two years, the confrontations of social distancing generated complications in many aspects of life, but quality education as a right for all did not achieve its goals. In this way, a qualitative and bibliographic research was necessary, where descriptors such as "evaluation", "pandemic", "learning" were posted in the CAPES Journal Portal in order to have the results of research on the evaluation process in times of crisis. pandemic. Therefore, six researches of academic articles published between 2020 and 2022 were found, these were systematized. It was possible to conclude that the assessment of learning had a sudden change by teachers, different from face-to-face teaching, as well as the challenges in the use of digital technologies by teachers.
Flow boiling heat transfer of a non-azeotropic mixture inside a single microchannel
This paper was presented at the 4th Micro and Nano Flows Conference (MNF2014), which was held at University College, London, UK. The conference was organised by Brunel University and supported by the Italian Union of Thermofluiddynamics, IPEM, the Process Intensification Network, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, the Heat Transfer Society, HEXAG - the Heat Exchange Action Group, and the Energy Institute, ASME Press, LCN London Centre for Nanotechnology, UCL University College London, UCL Engineering, the International NanoScience Community, www.nanopaprika.eu.This study moves from the need to study flow boiling of zeotropic mixture in microchannels. In the recent years much attention has been paid to the possible use of fluorinated propene isomers for the substitution of high-GWP refrigerants. The available HFOs (hydrofluoroolefins) cannot cover all the air-conditioning, heat pump, and refrigeration systems when used as pure fluids because their thermodynamic properties are not suitable for all operating conditions and therefore some solutions may be found using blends of refrigerants, to satisfy the demand for a wide range of working conditions. In the present paper a mixture of R1234ze(E) and R32 (0.5/0.5 by mass) has been studied. The local heat transfer coefficient during flow boiling of this mixture in a single microchannel with 0.96 mm diameter is measured at a pressure of 14 bar, which corresponds to a bubble temperature of 26.3°C. The flow boiling data taken in the present test section are discussed, with particular regard to the effect of heat flux, mass velocity and vapor quality. The heat transfer coefficients are compared against some predicting models available in the literature. Furthermore, the new experimental data are compared to flow boiling data of pure R1234ze(E) and pure R32 to analyze the heat transfer penalization due to the mass transfer resistance of this zeotropic mixture
