Scholars have usually understood the epigraphical evidence for an Athenian naval mission led by Diotimos as an example of the treaties in the framework of the Corinthian League and Athens' role as guarantor of security on the seas. Nevertheless, a close look at the main characters involved in the inscription and the mission of Diotimos, as well as to the historical context and the rise of the Macedonian hegemony, seems to allow a new interpretation of the evidence, in order to shed some light on the nature of Diotimos' mission

El poblamiento holocénico y su medio en las cuencas prepirenaicas de Pamplona y Aoiz-Lumbier

Este estudio se centra en el Holoceno inferior de las Cuencas Prepirenaicas Occidentales. Se ha querido tratar desde aspectos geográficos, geológicos y arqueológicos, dando una visión actual y realizando con todos los datos disponibles, una reconstrucción histórica y paleoambiental, según los diferentes momentos climáticos del Holoceno inferior. Las Cuencas Prepirenaicas Occidentales de Pamplona y de Aoiz-Lumbier son dos depresiones rodeadas de montañas y drenadas por los ríos Arga e Irati. Su formación geológica se debe a los depósitos marinos en general, salvo los conglomerados de facies continental del Perdón e Izagaondoa. La formación de su relieve se debe al plegamiento alpino-pirenaico. Hasta la fecha, se conocen 48 yacimientos arqueológicos entre dólmenes, cuevas y de superficie, además de 79 hallazgos sueltos (pulimentados principalmente). Sin tener en cuenta los yacimientos pleistocénicos (Leginpea y Alaiz) ni los protohistóricos, la principal ocupación de las Cuencas se da desde el Eneolítico-calcolítico (inicio de Subboreal), desarrollándose con plenitud en la Edad del Bronce (hasta el Subatlántico). Del Neolítico no hay claros inicios, como tampoco Epipaleolítico. Finalmente, se evalúan algunos aspectos culturales (cerámica, metalurgia, campaniforme) y económicos (ganadería, agricultura), poniéndose en relación con los físicos.Mendebaldeko Prepirinioko Arroak behe Holozenoan zentratu gara. Formazio geologikoari dagokionez, itsas deposituak ditugu oro har, El Perdón eta Izagaondoa aldeetako fazie kontinentaleko konglomeratuak izan ezik. Erliebea, tolestadura alpepirinioarraren ondorioa da. Isolaturik aurkitu diren 79 materialez gainera (material leundua, nagusiki), 48 aztarnategi arkeologiko aurkitu dira, orain artean: trikuarriak, lezeak eta lur azalekoak. Pleistozenos Aroko (Leginpea eta Araiz) eta protohistoriako aztarnategiak kontutan hartu gabe, Arroetako okupazio nagusia Eneolitos-Kalkolitos Arotik (Subborealaren hasiera) hasi zen garatzen, une gorena Brontze Aroan edukiko zuelarik (Subtlantikora arte). Neolitos nahiz Epipaleolitos Aroei legozkiekeen hasiera-mugak ez daude batere argi. Azkenik, hainbat kultur alderdi (zeramika, metalurgia, material kanpai-itxurakoa) eta faktore ekonomiko (abeltzantza, nekazaritza) baloratu dira, ezaugarri fisikoen erlazionatuz.Cet étude se centre à l'Holocene inférieur dans les bassins prepyréneens Occidentals. On l'á voulu traiter de aspects géographique et archéologique, en offrant une vision actuelle et en réalisant, avec tous les renseignements disponibles, une réconstruction historique et paléoambientale selon les différents moments climatiques du Holocene inferieur. Les bassins prepyréneens Occidentals de Panplona et de Aoiz-Lumbier sont deux dépressions entourées de montagnes et drainées par les fleuves Arga et Irati. Sa formation géologique se doit aux dépôts marins en général, sans les conglomérats continentals du Perdón et Izagaondoa. La formation de son relief se doit au plissement alpin. Jusqu'à maintenant on connait 48 gisements archéologiques entre dolmens, grottes et en plein air, d'ailleurs 79 trouvailles ilolées. Sans énumérer les gissements paléolithiques (Leginpea eta Alaiz) et les protohistoriques,la principale ocupation des bassins à lieu depuis le Eneolithique-calcolithique (Subboreal initial), en se developpant avec plénitude l'Age du Bronze (Subatlántique). ll ny a pas de signes Néolithiques ni Epipaléolithiques. Finalment, on évalue quelques aspects cultures (céramique et métalurgie) et économiques (élevage et agriculture), en les rapportant avec les physiques

¿Actitudes homofóbicas en adolescentes de Andalucía?: estudio de un caso

El presente trabajo estudia las distintas actitudes que tienen una muestra de adolescentes del Instituto Llanes de Sevilla (España) hacia el colectivo homosexual, partiendo de la pregunta: ¿los y las adolescentes son homófobos? Se entiende la homofobia como “actitud negativa de cariz prejuicioso hacia un individuo debido a su orientación sexual, desde la visión de superioridad moral y de deshumanización de quien lo comete”. Los resultados demostraron que la edad y el sexo eran las variables que más influían, por lo que los chicos eran más homófobos que las chicas y los estudiantes de menor edad tenían actitudes más negativas hacia las personas homosexuales. Compositional analysis of the association between mortality and 24-hour movement behaviour from NHANES

Aims:Previous prospective studies of the association between mortality and physical activity have generally not fully accounted for the interplay between movement behaviours. A compositional data modelling approach accounts for relative scale and co-dependency in time-use data across physical activity behaviours of the 24-hour day. Methods:A prospective analysis of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2005-2006 on N = 1468 adults (d = 135 deaths) in ages 50-79 years was undertaken using compositional Cox regression analysis. Daily time spent in sedentary behaviour, light intensity (LIPA) and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) was determined from waist-mounted accelerometer data (Actigraph 7164) and supplemented with self-reported sleep data to determine the daily time-use composition. Results:The composition of time spent in sedentary behaviour, LIPA, MVPA and sleep was associated with mortality rate after allowing for age and sex effects (p < 0.001), and remained significant when other lifestyle factors were added (p < 0.001). This was driven primarily by the preponderance of MVPA; however, significant changes are attributable to LIPA relative to sedentary behaviour and sleep, and sedentary behaviour relative to sleep. The final ratio ceased to be statistically significant after incorporating lifestyle factors. The preponderance of MVPA ceased to be statistically significant after incorporating health at outset and physical limitations on movement. Conclusions: An association is inferred between survival rate and the physical activity composition of the day. The MVPA time share is important, but time spent in LIPA relative to sedentary behaviour and sleep is also a significant factor. Increased preponderance of MVPA may have detrimental associations at higher levels of MVPA

Perceived congruence and online loyalty as segmentation variables in multichannel retailing: a comparison between appparel and electronics

As the interest of the literature on congruity between offline and online stores is relatively recent, empirical evidence is required to help marketing managers choose the most effective ways of contributing to the formation of consistent offerings as well as their contribution to generate customer loyalty. This study examines whether congruity can help to identify segments of heterogeneous consumers that differ significantly regarding these variables as well as other constructs related to the customer relationship with the retailer. The study attempts to identify which congruity attribute(s) are most relevant for differentiating customers by their loyalty towards the online store, so that retailers can design strategies for improving congruity between physical and online stores, and ultimately, increase online store loyalty

Cost-sensitive learning for Rule Classification: Evaluation of its applicability for Integrated Pest Management

This work evaluates and compares different supervised learning algorithms using a costsensitive approach to find a model that classifies legal rules related to pesticides as prohibitions and permissions. The naive Bayes classifier achieves the best results and it would be applicable because it doesn't misclassify prohibitions as permissions

Assessment of Methods for the Real-Time Simulation of Electronic and Thermal Circuits

[Abstract] Time–domain simulation of electronic and thermal circuits is required by a large array of applications, such as the design and optimization of electric vehicle powertrain components. While efficient execution is always a desirable feature of simulation codes, in certain cases like System-in-the-Loop setups, real-time performance is demanded. Whether real-time code execution can be achieved or not in a particular case depends on a series of factors, which include the mathematical formulation of the equations that govern the system dynamics, the techniques used in code implementation, and the capabilities of the hardware architecture on which the simulation is run. In this work, we present an evaluation framework of numerical methods for the simulation of electronic and thermal circuits from the point of view of their ability to deliver real-time performance. The methods were compared using a set of nontrivial benchmark problems and relevant error metrics. Interacción simbólica de los músicos de Quito en las calles García Moreno y Sucre :Ensayo fotográfico

Este ensayo fotográfico pretende mostrar cómo, el comportamiento de cada persona se va modificando al escuchar los diferentes repertorios de los músicos de Quito quienes ocupan con su arte las calles García Moreno y Sucre, desde el interaccionismo simbólico con su máximo representante Herbert Mead, Erving Goffman y otros autores afines, y así entender la necesidad de interpretar la realidad del mundo social donde estos actores modifican el comportamiento de las personas, con el propósito de causar en ellos un sentimiento, sentido y significado a lo cotidiano y a la vez que sus interpretaciones musicales puedan ser compartidas con los demás. Este tema se abordará, desde la fotografía, donde se puede evidenciar como la conducta de cada persona reacciona y asume actividades ante la participación de los músicos y cómo se abre ese intercambio de sentidos y significados a través de los símbolos y cómo se establece ese vínculo entre el individuo y el mundo. Desde ahí la comunicación juega un papel muy importante en la formación de las personas y en la creación social de sentidos.This photo essay aims to show how, the behavior of each person is modified by listening to the different repertoires of the musicians of Quito who occupy with their art the streets García Moreno and Sucre, from the symbolic interactionism with their maximum representative Herbert Mead, Erving Goffman and other related authors, and thus understand the need to interpret the reality of the social world where these actors modify people's behavior, with the purpose of causing in them a feeling, meaning and meaning to the everyday and at the same time as their musical interpretations can be shared with others. This topic will be addressed, from photography, where it can be shown how the behavior of each person reacts and assumes activities before the participation of musicians and how that exchange of meanings and meanings is opened through symbols and how that link is established between the individual and the world.
