Time-optimality by distance-optimality for parabolic control systems

The equivalence of time-optimal and distance-optimal control problems is shown for a class of parabolic control systems. Based on this equivalence, an approach for the efficient algorithmic solution of time-optimal control problems is investigated. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate that the approach works well is practice

Phubbing By Gen-Z And Gen-Y: Exploring Smartphone Usage And Its Implications On Interpersonal Communication In The Workplace

This research examines "phubbing" behavior among Gen-Z and Gen-Y employees at PT Siloam International Hospitals, Indonesia. Phubbing refers to the act of using smartphones while in the presence of others, diverting attention from face-to-face interactions. The study employs a qualitative case study approach, interviewing six participants selected through purposive sampling. Findings reveal a hybrid work system at Siloam, with a mix of face-to-face and virtual communication. Smartphones and laptops play vital roles in work-related communication, with some participants using smartphones for 80-90% of their work hours. Urgency, multitasking, and avoidance of certain topics are cited as reasons for phubbing. Understanding these drivers can help organizations address communication challenges and foster attentive interactions. Promoting mindful smartphone usage can lead to improved workplace dynamics and productivity, emphasizing the importance of empathy and open communication

RADEN BONIFACIUS BAYU ERLANGGA KUSUMA, G0006214, 2010. PENGARUH DAYA ANTIBAKTERI EKSTRAK DAUN SIRIH (Piper betle L.) TERHADAP Streptococcus mutans. FAKULTAS KEDOKTERAN UNIVERSITAS SEBELAS MARET SURAKARTA.

Our world is confronted with an energy crisis on a global scale. Our current energy supplies are polluting our environment and are not based on endless cycles. Clean technologies are needed that provide people and planet with safe, affordable and secure energy. PlantPower is a new additional source of electricity. It was in 1911 when the British botanist Michael C. Potter showed that bacteria can cause electrical effects accompanied by decomposition of organic matter. Nowadays, 101 years later, this electrical effect evolved into the development of a multitude of bio-electrochemical systems providing all kinds of services like wastewater treatment, electricity generation or chemical recovery. The Plant Microbial Fuel Cell (Plant-MFC) offers in-situ electricity production with living plants and bacteria. This unique combination was just invented 6 years ago and is already scaled-up to 25 square meters. The last 4 years a multidisciplinary research team explored the Plant-MFC in an EU research project. Exciting discoveries and great technological development took place over the last few years. New research questions came up and opportunities were identified to improve the system in the future. By bringing scientists, companies and entrepreneurs together we expect to bring PlantPower from the lab into the real world. The Plant-MFC is promising from a technical, environmental and economic perspective. The design criteria for the future are defined; but still development on several issues is needed. Besides the fundamental research, scaling-up the technology is the next challenge. Especially wetlands offer the opportunity to produce electricity on a large scale. World-wide 800,000,000 ha wetland are present, however they are often under pressure due to our need of arable land for food, feed or chemicals. Here the Plant-MFC can be a solution since Plant-MFCs can be combined with nature and in that sense make nature preservation economically feasible. This 2nd international PlantPower symposium will show exiting results of the EU PlantPower consortium and other researchers

THE USE OF INLAY PATTERN RESIN AS AN ABUTMENT CROWN TEMPLATE FOR REMOVABLE PARTIAL DENTURES: CLINICAL REPORT: PENGGUNAAN POLA RESIN INLAY SEBAGAI MODEL TIRUAN MAHKOTA GIGI PENYANGGA PADA PEMBUATAN GIGI TIRUAN SEBAGIAN LEPASAN: LAPORAN KASUS

Patients with removable partial denture need abutment tooth as retainer for the clasp. In some cases, this tooth requires endodontic treatment or even jacket crown so it can be used as a clasp retainer. For patient with removable partial denture, post core and crown fabrication in abutment teeth require adjustments to the crown to fit with denture clasp. First case, a 23-year-old male patient with fractured lower second premolar tooth because of previous metal restoration failure and had been treated with root canal treatment. The tooth was used as an abutment for removable partial denture that was still in good condition. The tooth was later treated with cast post and core with PFM (Porcelain fused to metal) crown. Second case, a 60-year-old female patient came to the clinic with a complaint of fracture in upper first premolar. This tooth was also used as abutment for maxillary framework partial denture. A template made of pattern resin was made to reproduce the dentures for both cases. Acrylic resin has good accuracy and stability to reproduce parts of the denture. The advantage of this technique is that patients can use their denture during fabrication of the crown
