Politicians on the covers of socio-political weekly magazines during the 2015 and 2020 presidential elections : the analysis of "Sieci" and "Newsweek"

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie strategii przedstawiania kandydatów na urząd prezydenta w wybranych polskich tygodnikach społeczno-politycznych, które reprezentują odmienne światopoglądy, sympatie polityczne i systemy wartości. Główna teza dotyczy założenia o istnieniu dualizmu w strategiach wizualnych wskazanych tygodników. Na podstawie analizy multimodalnej okładek 2015 i 2020 r., której przedmiotem były sposoby prezentowania postaci i wykorzystane zabiegi perswazyjne, wyróżniono prezentację afi rmatywną i krytyczną oraz scharakteryzowano jej cechy.The article focuses on the strategies of presenting presidential candidates in the selected Polish socio-political weekly magazines. The chosen magazines ("Sieci" and "Newsweek") represent different worldviews, political sympathies, and value systems. The main thesis concerns the assumption that there is a dualism in the visual strategies presented by the indicated weeklies. The multimodal analysis of the covers (from years 2015 and 2020) has been based on the ways of presenting the characters and the persuasive devices used in the process. As a result, an affirmative and a critical presentation have been distinguished and characterised

Tekst jest próbą odpowiedzenia na pytanie jaka jest współczesna Europa i jak na jej obszarze czuje się człowiek? Marzenie o zjednoczonej Europie bez wojen ziściło się w XX wieku. Mamy zatem jeden polityczny organizm. Pozostaje jednak wiele pytań, które dotyczą tego, jak w tej przestrzeni czuje się jednostka ludzka? Czy ma poczucie bezpieczeństwa? Z jakimi wyzwaniami muszą się zmagać Europejczycy i czy są w ogóle szczęśliwi? Czy ich egzystencja w różnych zakątkach zjednoczonej wspólnoty wykreowała przestrzeń wolności czy ograniczeń? Jaka jest Europa wielu kultur? Jak przeciętny Europejczyk doświadcza makroprocesów takich jak globalizacja, konsumeryzm, ekspansję światowych koalicji, a także globalnych kryzysów, migracji ludzi oraz kulturowych konfrontacji? Wiele z tych pytań stawiają także w bardziej lub mniej świadomy sposób Michale Haneke i Dagur Kári. Przedstawiając swoje wizje różnych obszarów Europy mierzą się z pytaniami o współczesne granice wolności i zniewolenia jednostki. Pytają o mechanizmy, które powodują, że życie ludzi wymyka się im spod kontroli. Stawiają pytania o aktualne zagrożenia, a także dążenia współczesnych Europejczyków. Są to zatem absolutnie fundamentalne kwestie o kondycję człowieka zamieszkującego europejskie przestrzenie, o jego wartości, priorytety i szanse życiowe, o wyzwania jakim musi stawić czoła. Zobaczmy zatem, jakie pojawiają się odpowiedzi i jaka wizja europejskiego człowieka i jego kondycji jest przedstawiona we wspomnianych filmowych obrazach.The dream of a united community - Europe without wars came true in the twentieth century. However, there remain a lot of questions, which concern everyday life of ordinary people who have to confront the advantages and disadvantages of new European situations. What challenges they face and whether the Europeans are at all happy? Do they have a sense of security? Does their existence in various parts of a united community created a space of freedom or restriction? What is the Europe of many cultures? Does the average European experience of macroprocesses such as globalization, consumerism, global expansion of the coalition, and global crises, migration of people and culture of confrontation? The great European film director like Michael Haneke and Dagur Kari also pose such important questions. They are posing questions about the current state and future of the united European community. They touch the difficult and uncomfortable issues like the limitation to freedom and enslavement of the individual. They ask about the mechanisms that make people’s lives spinning out of control. They pose questions about current threats, as well as the aspirations of modern Europeans. They attempt to try to look at the problems of Europe from the perspective of individuals. Europe is not only the institutions, organizations, politics or economics. Europe is above all people. People who in their everyday lives must confront their own dreams and imaginations of the European world with what they encountered in practice. Learning by feeling : "Invisible exhibition" in social work teaching

The purpose of this paper is to present the teaching methods used in teaching students of social work. The motivations for the creation of text combined with the desire to transfer knowledge combined with teaching skills for their future careers. The aim is to develop empathy students who are preparing a public campaign aimed at helping the blind and partially sighted to empathize with their situation 'they visited the exhibition Invisible' in Warsaw. 'Invisible exhibition' can be divided into three stages. The first takes place in the sighted world, where viewers become familiar with a variety of articles intended for the blind. The second is a tour of the exhibition in complete darkness, navigate through unknown space to hear only the voice of the guide. The third step is to talk with a guide, an opportunity to ask questions, to find out how to help a blind person in everyday life. This place we combine the categories of compassion, trust and experience that is the concept of the exhibition, as well as the statements of the students were the most associated of space 'Invisible exhibition'. Emotions connected with the place are strong, total darkness prevails there awakens a feeling of discomfort, and sometimes even fear. Participants work together to cope in the dark. Guide becomes the expert showing how to deal with disability in everyday life. These elements shape the educational values of the place in the education of future social workers

On man and morality in the russian society: an analysis of Andrey Zvyagintsev’s films Elena and Loveless

Celem artykułu jest opis i diagnoza współczesnego społeczeństwa rosyjskiego i kierunku jego rozwoju. Materiałem wykorzystanym do dokonania krytycznej analizy są filmy Elena i Niemiłość rosyjskiego reżysera Andrieja Zwiagincewa. Dzieła te przedstawiają obraz społeczeństwa rosyjskiego, występujące w nim postawy życiowe i wartości oraz potencjalne kierunki jego rozwoju. Autorka twierdzi, że zarówno poszczególne jednostki, jak i społeczeństwo rosyjskie jako całość działają zgodnie z logiką wojny, która stanowi rodzaj stylu życia i filozofii codzienności. Obecność logiki wojny przejawia się nie tylko w życiu prywatnym ludzi, lecz także w życiu społeczeństwa jako całości oraz w jego instytucjach i w strukturach władzy państwowej. Logika ta dopuszcza działania niemoralne i zwalnia z odpowiedzialności za dokonywane czyny, tłumacząc je osobistym dobrobytem lub wyższą koniecznością. W kontekście wojny toczącej się w Ukrainie postawy bohaterów i bohaterek filmów Andrieja Zwiagincewa zyskują wymiar symboliczny i profetyczny.The aim of the article is to describe the contemporary Russian society, identifying the directions its future development might take, on the basis of a critical analysis of Andrey Zvyagintsev’s films Elena and Loveless. The image of the Russian society with its predominant attitudes towards life, its morality and values conveyed by the films scrutinized in the paper is one of a society demonstrating the logic of war. Adopted as a lifestyle and a philosophy of daily existence, the logic of war is manifested in private lives of individuals, in the functioning of the society as a whole and of its institutions, as well as in the power structures of the Russian state. Such a logic permits unethical behavior and makes it possible for individuals to evade responsibility for their actions justifying them by their personal welfare or an absolute necessity. In the context of the war ongoing in Ukraine, the attitudes adopted by Zvyagintsev’s characters, take on symbolic and prophetic aspect
