Computer-aided design and loaded tooth contact analyses of bevel gear pair having straight teeth by different loaded torques

The aim of this publication is to show how to integrate the designing process of straight bevel gears into a computer software so it can be further used for making the three-dimensional (CAD) model of the gear pair. During meshing the driven and the driving gears engage gradually so contact points can be mathematically determined between the element pairs according to the developed coordinate system’s arrangement. With mydeveloped computer software, I designed a certain bevel gear pair having straight teeth. Naturally, many different types of this pair could be designed. After that Loaded Tooth Contact Analysis (LTCA) have been done by normal stress, normal deformation and normal elastic strain parameters. The aim of the LTCA is the analysis of the connection tooth zone in mechanical aspects by different loads. If the received parameters are not appropriate, you can return to the mechanical designing process where the starting parameters of the gear could be modified. Different load torques were used to determine the established mechanical parameters of the elements

Normal deformation and stress analysis of the tooth roots in case of different worm gear drives

    Get PDF
The aim of this study is the comparative finite element analysis of the tooth roots of one tooth on worm-wheels having different geometries. Designing of various cylindrical worm gear drives is essential for the study where all of the input parameters are the same, only the number of thread on the worm is modified. Due to this modification the shape of the worm-wheels is different that is why dissimilar mechanical parameters will be received by the same load force. The creation of the CAD models is also important for the analysis

The objective of this publication is creation of computer geometric models (CAD) of developed in Diósgyőri Machine Factory and using exact production geometry first produced (grinded) cylindrical worm gear drive having arched profile by Illés Dudás [3, 4, 5] for connection analysis, Finite Element Method analysis, etc. Since the worm and worm gear wrap each other, that is why the worm gear has to be produced by a tool geometry of which is similar to the worm geometry. Knowing of the Connection I. Statement tooth surface of driven element which is wrapped by driver element is defined by numerical calculations. The CAD model of the worm gear could be designed by adaptation of interpolating B – spline surface to the tooth surface points of worm gear

The GearTeq software is a unique designing program for many types of gear pairs (spur gears, helical gears, bevel gears, worm gears, elliptical gears, epicyclic gear trains, etc.). Knowing of the recommendation of the references an engineer can set the input parameters of several pinion and driven gears and after that this program can calculate the other necessary parameters. During the designing process the designing gear geometry could be followed by schematic figures

Designing and loaded tooth contact analysis of an Archimedean worm gear drive focusing for the connecting teeth of the worm wheel by loaded torques

The cylindrical worm gear drives are widely used in different mechanical construction such as in the vehicle industry, the robotics, the medical appliances etc. The main property of them is the perpendicular and space bypass axes arrangement. Quite high transmission ratio could be achieved because of the high number of teeth of the worm-wheel and a little number of threads of the worm. More teeth are connected on the worm-wheel at the same time that is why higher loads and power could be transferred. In this research an Archimedean type cylindrical worm gear drive was designed. After the determination of the geometric parameters the computer aided models were created for the LTCA analysis. Knowing of the kinematic motions of the elements the contact points of the wrapping surfaces could be determined by mathematical way. The necessary coordinate system’s arrangements and matrixes were also determined. Different torques were applied during the LTCA. The changing of the distribution of the normal stress and normal deformation into different directions were followed on each connecting tooth of the worm-wheel by the torques. Based on the results consequences were determined by the created diagrams which contains the torques and the analysed mechanical parameter for each tooth

The helical gear pairs are widely used in different mechanical constructs. The main advantage is the good efficiency and the low noise during the connection. We have worked out a computer software with which the designing process of the helical gears could be eased. Based on the calculated gear parameters the CAD models of the elements could be prepared. Knowing of the geometries the assem-bly could be created based on the fixed freedom degrees and the elementary centre distance. We have designed five types of gear pairs. The differences are only the different tooth traces. All of other parameters have not been modified. The aim of this research is the function between the tool trace and the mechan-ical parameters. Using of the TCA the mechanical parameters of the connecting elements on the contact zone could be analyses by different loads. We have done this analysis which means we have analyzed the effect of the modified parameter for the normal stress, normal deformation and the normal elastic strain on the contact zone. Based on the results we have prepared diagrams for the analysis of the correlations between the changing parameters. Before the real production the TCA is suggested because of the determination of the estimated mechanical parameters. If these parameters would not give re-quired results it could be possible to return to the geometric designing process and modify the geometric parameters
