Tourism development in the Crikvenica riviera
This paper analyses the development of tourism activities in the Crikvenica area and their impact on spatial tranformation and distribution. The analysis is divided in two cycles of development that are separeted by the period od war. Key difference between two cycles is, not only the new beginning and fresh start of tourism development caused by war, but also the shift that was made inside of a tourist demand. It marked a need of tourism areas to adapt to new situation based on development of new tourism forms. For that reason, second observed cycle of development goes through structural changes that differs from the first cycle. After that, the paper focuses on the analyses of future trends of tourism development based on the comprehension of tourism processes, relations, structures and impacts in the recent period

Is Neuro-Symbolic AI Meeting its Promise in Natural Language Processing? A Structured Review
Advocates for Neuro-Symbolic Artificial Intelligence (NeSy) assert that
combining deep learning with symbolic reasoning will lead to stronger AI than
either paradigm on its own. As successful as deep learning has been, it is
generally accepted that even our best deep learning systems are not very good
at abstract reasoning. And since reasoning is inextricably linked to language,
it makes intuitive sense that Natural Language Processing (NLP), would be a
particularly well-suited candidate for NeSy. We conduct a structured review of
studies implementing NeSy for NLP, with the aim of answering the question of
whether NeSy is indeed meeting its promises: reasoning, out-of-distribution
generalization, interpretability, learning and reasoning from small data, and
transferability to new domains. We examine the impact of knowledge
representation, such as rules and semantic networks, language structure and
relational structure, and whether implicit or explicit reasoning contributes to
higher promise scores. We find that systems where logic is compiled into the
neural network lead to the most NeSy goals being satisfied, while other factors
such as knowledge representation, or type of neural architecture do not exhibit
a clear correlation with goals being met. We find many discrepancies in how
reasoning is defined, specifically in relation to human level reasoning, which
impact decisions about model architectures and drive conclusions which are not
always consistent across studies. Hence we advocate for a more methodical
approach to the application of theories of human reasoning as well as the
development of appropriate benchmarks, which we hope can lead to a better
understanding of progress in the field. We make our data and code available on
github for further analysis.Comment: Surve
Use of Modern methods for Evaluation of Motor Performance
The development of instruments and the use of the same is expanding from year to year. The paper aims to determine the usefulness of Myotesta (MT), Optojump (OJ), Globe Ergo System (GES) as modern methods for assessing motor performance. The research included nine original scientific papers. All works satisfied the problem and could answer the set goal. The selection of works from 2009. to 2014. was taken as a method. There are specific differences when comparing the results for each of the instruments. Myotest has stood out as the smallest instrument and is easily portable and therefore effective to use. The assessment of explosive power is easy to perform, and the results it gives are reliable
Microwave Assisted Esterification of Aryl/Alkyl Acids Catalyzed by N-Fluorobenzenesulfonimide
The susceptibility of the carbonyl group towards nucleophilic attack affords the construction of various organic compounds. Thus, investigations of carbonyl activation applying greener methodologies are highly important. In the present work, among the investigated N-halo compounds, N-fluorobenzenesulfonimide (NFSi) has been found as an efficient and selective catalyst in the reaction of direct esterification of aryl and alkyl carboxylic acids supported by microwave (MW) irradiation. The comprehensive esterification of different benzoic acids and mono-, di-and tri-carboxy alkyl derivatives was performed, whereby significant reaction time reductions were achieved. The presented method used NFSi as an easily manipulatable, non-metal, water-and air-tolerant catalyst, allowing simple synthetic and isolation procedures and energy saving, compared to conventional methodologies. Importantly, in contrast to esterification under thermal conditions, where N-halo compounds behave as pre-catalysts, in the MW-supported protocol, a distinct reaction mechanism has been proposed that assumes NFSi as a sustainable catalyst. Moreover, a scale-up of the industrially important derivative was performed
Antiproliferative and antimigratory effects of 3-(4-substituted benzyl)-5-isopropyl-5-phenylhydantoin derivatives in human breast cancer cells
In this study, a series of synthesized 3-(4-substituted benzyl)-5-isopropyl-5-phenylhydantoin derivatives as a potential antiproliferative and antimigratory agents were investigated. The possible antitumor mechanisms of investigated hydantoin derivatives were examined on human breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231. The cells were treated with different concentrations of compounds (from 0.01 mu M to 100 mu M) during 24 h and 72 h. The proliferation index, nitric oxide production, apoptosis rate, and migration capacity were measured. The cell invasion potential was examined by measuring the level of MMP-9 and COX-2 gene expression. All tested compounds expressed antiproliferative activity and induced dose- and time-dependent increase in the level of nitrites. The investigated molecules significantly decreased cell survival rate, migration capacity and the expression levels of genes included in the process of tumor invasion. Obtained data suggest that the tested hydantoin derivatives express considerable antitumor activity by reducing cell division rate, elevating apoptosis level, and inhibiting the motility and invasiveness of breast cancer cells. The results obtained in this study indicate that investigated compounds express potential as a novel chemotherapeutic agents against breast cancer growth and progression. (C) 2020 The Author(s). On the universal parabolic constant
In this article the universal parabolic constant is defined as the analog of the number in relation to the circle. For this purpose, all relevant terms and results in algebraic number theory, elementary mathematics and calculus are stated, necessary to consider the subject completely and adequately. It is shown that the ratio of arc length of the parabolic segment, determined by the line through the focus parallel to the directrix, and the distance between the focus and the directrix, does not depend on the particular parabola, justifying the constant\u27s definition. Applying the Lindemann\u27s result that the number is trancedental, the proof is given that the universal parabolic constant is a transcendental and hence an irrational number. Furthermore, the property of similarity of curves is analyzed, establishing that all circles and parabolas satisfy this property, while ellipses and hyperbolas do not. Two sets of examples of the application of the parabolic constant are given. One is calculating the surface area of certain rotational solid objects, created by rotating graphs of elementary functions around the -axis. The other involves analyzing problems of determining the average distance of points in a unit square to the center of the square, or to any randomly chosen but fixed vertex of the square. As to the latter, their probability theory counterparts are stated
Kvantitativne metode odluÄivanja - problem složene razdiobe ulaganja
U ovom Äemo Älanku razmatrati odabrane primjene problema složene razdiobe ulaganja i naÄin njihovih rjeÅ”avanja primjenom metoda i tehnika dinamiÄkoga programiranja.
On the devil\u27s curve
In this article, we firstly describe the connection between the devil\u27s curve and the game of "diabolo" the curve is named after. We shortly describe the history of studying the curve, as well as basic definitions and terms of algebraic geometry used in the article. Then
we give the definition, basic properties and basic forms of the equation of the curve, whereby we especially derive the parametric equation of the curve. As a typical example of the
devil\u27s curve, we consider the electric motor curve and its properties. Finally, we consider one of the possible constructions of the devil\u27s curve using the equilateral hyperbola
