    Assessment of Nutritional Quality of Developed Faba Bean (Vicia faba L.) Lines

    Five promising lines of faba bean, which includes two line i.e. 2011215 and 2011410 for grain purpose with yield potential of >5.0t/ha and three promising lines viz., VFBP201302, VFBP201304 and VFBP201306 were identified for vegetable purposes with green pod yield potential of 21.51 to 23.54 t/ha, suitable for Eastern Parts of India.These developed lines were evaluated along with national check varieties viz., Vikrant and Pusa Sumeet for its nutritional and antinutritional quality.Developed lines containmore dietary fiber, total soluble sugar, total starch, phosphorus, iron manganese and zinc. Less phytate was found in the developed lines as compare to checks varieties. Maximum (1.56%) fat was reported in VFBP 201304 (IC No IC No. 0595988), Maximum dietary fiber (13.49%) was obtained in the 2011410 line (IC No.0595986), however, minimum dietary fiber was found in check variety Vikrant (11.94). Similarly, minimum (0.10%) phytate was noticed in the line 2011215(IC No. 0595985). This record was migrated from the OpenDepot repository service in June, 2017 before shutting down

    Intraneural synovial sarcoma of median nerve: A rare case report with review of literature

    Synovial sarcomas are highly aggressive soft tissue tumour with a poor and dismal prognosis. These tumours have a high propensity for distant metastasis and local recurrence.  Although originally believed to arise from synovium, these tumours have been found to occur anywhere in body1,2. We report here, a case of median nerve sarcoma in a 15-year female. This is a rare tumour, which is diagnosed only after histopathological examination with only a few cases reported in the literature (Table 1). Although preoperatively tumour was thought to be a nerve sheath tumour, on histopathology analysis was found to be synovial sarcoma. Despite aggressive behaviour, wide local excision is recommended even in smaller lesions. So, the diagnosis should always be kept in differentials of nerve sheath tumour, as what may be a synovial sarcoma

    IN VIVO MONITORING STRATEGIES FOR EVALUATION OF FLOATING DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEMS

    In recent years, various advancements have been introduced in the development of controlled drug release devices for resolving different physiological problems for example, gastric retention inconsistency along with erratic gastric emptying time. Gastroretentive delivery formulations receive considerable attention to overcome these drawbacks and in optimizing the absorption of different medicaments. Gastroretentive technologies considerably extend the stomach retention time of dosage forms with increased bioavailability as well as therapeutic efficacy. Gastroretention can be successfully achieved utilizing gastric floating system. The rationale of the present manuscript focuses on current advancements of gastric floating systems so as to accomplish appropriate drug bioavailability and, subsequently drug targeting to the stomach. In vivo evaluation parameters, especially pivotal imaging techniques including roentgenography, gamma scintigraphy, gastroscopy, magnetic marker monitoring, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasonography, 13C octanoic acid breath test etc. have been emphasized in this manuscript for monitoring drug formulation behavior which extensively revolutionized thorough understanding in the avenue of improved bioavailability of gastroretentive systems

    GASTRORETENTIVE FLOATING TECHNOLOGY FOR ERADICATION OF HELICOBACTER PYLORI: AN INSIGHT VIEW

    Helicobacter pylori is a virulent human pathogen infecting about 50% of the population worldwide. Being a leading cause of gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, gastritis, dyspepsia, gastric tumorigenesis etc., this organism has been the focus of concerted study to establish uncertainty of its genetics, immunopathogenesis and cell biology. Scientists have tried to effectively eradicate this pathogen from the gastrointestinal tract in various manners. Inquest of this venture, gastroretentive drug delivery systems including floating dosage forms have emerged as a boon and offer significantly improved therapeutic effects of different antimicrobial drugs. This article presents an evocative review of the structural features, epidemiological evidences and various pharmacotherapeutics vistas. In addition, various novel gastroretentive dosage forms developed so far to combat Helicobacter pylori infection are also discussed. Comprehensive literature review has been performed for this manuscript by utilizing relevant databases like PubMed, SCOPUS, Web of Science, Science Direct, Google Scholar etc., from 1997 up to the year 2020

    Event Driven Application Specific Prioritized Data Transmission Approach for Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks

    276-282The paper presents a novel framework based on prioritized event detection for Underwater Wireless Sensor Network (UWSN). The proposed approach named Event Driven Energy Balanced Routing (EDEBR) takes the routing decision based on oceanic environment parameters (temperature, density, salinity and pressure). The approach of EDEBR considers two routing phase based on annotated parameters of Critical and Non-critical event priority. Here critical data routing phase focuses on fast and reliable delivery of data and Non-critical data routing phase focuses on the network lifetime through energy balancing technique. The proposal is evaluated and compared against the standard state-of-art protocol on the basis of following three evaluation parameters i) end to end delay, ii) Network lifetime and iii) Throughput of the network. Here in case of critical data the end to end delay is reduced this satisfies the condition for fast delivery. In case of non-critical data, the energy is conserved this enhances the overall life time. Lastly the maximum throughput is achieved in cases of critical and non-critical. Thus the proposal describes a novel routing mechanism for different priority data based on annotated critical and non-critical priorities in underwater environment. The viability of proposal for both cases critical and non-critical is validated through the simulation

    Impact of cropping systems on physico-chemical characteristics of surface water during different seasons in Shimla region of Himachal Pradesh

    The present investigations were carried out in the year 2014 with an objective to find out the impact of different cropping systems on nearby surface water resources in Shimla region of Himachal Pradesh. The aim of the study was to monitor the surface water bodies for pollution caused by nearby cropping systems in the Shimla area. In this study fruit, fruit + vegetable, vegetable and cereal based cropping systems were selected along with control (uncultivated land) and sampling was done during winter, summer and rainy seasons. The estimated water quality parameters revealed very less organic pollution and pH values were within the BIS prescribed limits of 6.5-8.5. Under vegetable based cropping system EC (500.23 µS cm?1), TDS (329.17 mg/l), BOD (1.48 mg/l), COD (31.09 mg/l), Cl- (25.66 mg/l), Ca (75.59 mg/l) and Mg (11.14 mg/l) were in high concentration, whereas No3- content were high under fruit + vegetable based cropping system. DO were maximum (8.61mg/l) under uncultivated land. Calcium and COD were high in some samples, which could be from anthropogenic sources, rest of the parameters were within the desirable limits prescribed by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The experimental data were statistically analysed through Analysis of variance (two way classification of data) indicated positive correlation among most of the physical and chemical parameters. Study reveals that cropping systems as well as seasonal changes has affected the water quality. The study carried out for water quality parameters, revealed the correlation of each parameter with one another under different cropping systems

    Epidural bupivacaine combined with dexmedetomidine or clonidine in infraumbilical surgeries: a comparative evaluation

    Background: Alpha-2 agonist are being extensively evaluated as an alternative to neuraxial opoids, as an adjuvants in regional anaesthesia The faster onset of action of local anaesthetics, rapid establishment of both sensory and motor blockade, prolonged duration of analgesia into postoperative period, dose sparing action of local anaesthetics and stable cardiovascular parameters make these agents a very effective adjuvant in regional anaesthesia.Methods: Our study had 45 patients, all patients belonged to ASA Grade-I or II, between 20 and 55 years of age with an average height of 150 and 170 cm and have ideal body weight requiring neuraxial blockade for lower abdominal surgeries. All the patients were randomly allocated into two groups Group-I: Epidural bupivacaine 0.5% (16 ml) + clonidine 75 µgm (1 ml) Group-II: Epidural bupivacaine 0.5 % (16 ml) + Dexmedetomidine 50 µgm (1 ml) Patients were monitored for sensory and motor blockade, hemodynamic parameters, rescue analgesia, sedation and adverse effects in perioperative period.Results: The time of onset of sensory block at T10 and time to reach maximum sensory block (T6) in group-I was significantly longer as compared to group-II. The complete motor blockade (grade-3) was achieved much later and time taken for recovery to grade-0 was significantly shorter in group-I. The time for rescue analgesia in group-I was significantly shorter as compared to group-II. Hypotension was the most common side effect in both the groups. Dry mouth is a known side effect of alpha-2 agonists. Epidural dexmedetomidine produced profound sedation.  Conclusions: We conclude from this study that dexmedetomidine is a better adjuvant than clonidine for providing early onset of sensory analgesia, superior sedative properties and prolonged post-operative analgesia.
