    History and modelling of the socio-environmental dynamics of the fluvial landscapes of Côte-d'Azur (France) during the Holocene A research program was initiated in 2006 in order to reconstruct the evolution of the coastal hydrosystems of the rivers Argens (Var), Loup, Cagne and Malvan (Alpes-Maritimes) during the Holocene. The paper presents the archaeological and palaeoenvironmental data and the me thods used to apprehend the effects of the landscapes mobility over settlement patterns, and the impact of human occupation over the ecosystems.Un programme de recherches a été initié en 2006 afin de retracer l'évolution des hydrosystèmes côtiers de l'Argens (Var), du Lou p, de la Cagne et du Malvan (Alpes-Maritimes) au cours de l'Holocène.     A new interpolation method to measure delta evolution and sediment flux: Application to the late Holocene coastal plain of the Argens River in the western Mediterranean

    Rapid environmental changes along the Mediterranean coasts influenced the sedimentary dynamics, shoreline position and human settlements in deltaic areas over the last millennia. An innovative and multiproxy approach using geostatistical modelling was developed to estimate geomorphic evolution and sediment fluxes in deltaic areas, while palaeoecological conditions and environmental changes were assessed from geochemistry and cluster analyses of molluscan fauna. This method was applied to the coastal plain of the Argens River in southern France. Depositional environments of prodelta, delta front, river channel, floodplain, marsh and abandoned channel were identified from the study of facies associations. The late Holocene sediment flux in the Argens River bayhead delta ranged from 15,800 ± 2300 to 52,000 ± 8500 m3·yr−1. The highest rate of sediment deposition between 2500 and 2000 cal yr BP was associated with increased river flooding in southeastern France. A general decrease in subaqueous sediment flux over the past 2500 years was primarily controlled by a decrease in accommodation space and delta slope. From 500 to 0 cal yr BP, a sharp increase in subaerial sediment flux probably due to hydroclimatic change was contemporaneous with a period of high flood frequency during the Little Ice Age. A southward shift of the North Atlantic westerlies combined with either a negative phase of the East Atlantic/West Russian pattern or a negative phase of the East Atlantic pattern coupled to a northward migration of the intertropical convergence zone could have led to increased fluvial activity in the lower Argens valley during the late Holocene

    Foram avaliados 20 genótipos de feijão-caupi, provenientes da Embrapa Meio-Norte, em relação a seis características morfo-agronômicas. O experimento foi conduzido na Universidade Estadual de Mato Grosso do Sul, Unidade de Aquidauana, no delineamento de blocos casualizados, com quatro repetições. As estimativas de parâmetros genéticos demonstraram situação favorável ao melhoramento por seleção da característica peso de cem grãos, que apresentou elevado valor de herdabilidade e valor de índice de variação superior à unidade

    Este trabalho teve como objetivo estudar a adaptabilidade e estabilidade de 20 genótipos de feijão-caupi provenientes da Embrapa Meio-Norte, em três municípios de Mato Grosso do Sul (Chapadão do Sul, Dourados e Aquidauana), com relação à produção de grãos (kg ha-1). Os experimentos foram conduzidos no delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições. Para identificação de genótipos com boa adaptabilidade e estabilidade em relação aos locais estudados, aplicou-se a metodologia de Eberhart & Russell (1966). A linhagem MNC00-553D-8-1-2-3 foi a mais promissora, podendo vir a ser recomendada para cultivo em Chapadão do Sul, Dourados e Aquidauana, com grande chance de sucesso na produção de grãos de feijão-caupi

    A surveillance system of Invasive Pneumococcal Disease in North-Eastern Italy

    Background From 2007, in the Veneto Region (Italy), a surveillance system for invasive pneumococcal diseases (IPD) was implemented to estimate the regional epidemiology of IPD and to evaluate the impact of 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13) vaccination. Methods Data were collected from 2007 to 2014 and the total, annual and age-specific IPD notification rates were calculated. A Poisson regression model was used to identify the possible risk factors for developing IPD. Results A total of 713 IPD cases were notified and the overall IPD notification rate was equal to 2.0 cases per 100,000 population (95% CI: 1.7-2.1), with an increasing trend between 2007 and 2014. The pneumococcal serotypes were identified in 608 (85.3%) isolates from biological specimens, and the most distributed serotypes were those contained in PCV13. Children < 5 year-old and the adults over 65 year-old showed the highest PCV13 vaccine-type IPD notification rate, equal to 2.7/100,000 and 2.8/100,000, respectively. The risk to develop IPD was greater in children aged 65 years (RR = 4.3, 95% CI: 2.7-6.9; p 65 years of age (RR = 1.7, 95% CI: 1.0-2.8; p = 0.042). The invasive pneumococcal disease was mainly caused by the PCV13 serotypes (RR = 2.9, 95%CI: 2.3-3.9; p<0.0001), principally after the PCV13 introduction (RR = 2.3, 95% CI: 1.4-3.8; p<0.001). In spite of that, a significant reduction of the overall IPD incidence is evident in the period following the PCV13 vaccine introduction (RR = 0.4, 95% CI: 0.3-0.5; p<0.0001), particularly in children aged <5 years (RR = 0.3, 95% CI: 0.2-0.7; p = 0.002), demonstrating the real efficacy of PCV13 immunization for children. Conclusions In the Veneto Region, the surveillance system has allowed to describe the detailed epidemiological profile of invasive pneumococcal disease, pointing out that the most circulating pneumococcal serotypes were those contained in the PCV13 vaccine

    Comportamento de genótipos de feijão-caupi de porte semi-ereto em ambientes de Mato Grosso do Sul.

    Objetivando avaliar o comportamento produtivo de genótipos de feijão-caupi de porte semi-ereto em Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), conduziu-se o presente trabalho nos municípios de Chapadão do Sul, Dourados e Aquidauana. Os tratamentos consistiram de 17 linhagens e três cultivares delineados em blocos casualizados com quatro repetições. Dados de peso de cem grãos (PCG) e produção de grãos secos (PGS) foram submetidos à análise de variância simples e conjunta e as médias comparadas pelo teste de Scott-Knot. Os resultados permitiram afirmar que o comportamento diferenciado entre os genótipos de feijão-caupi quanto ao PCG independe das condições ambientais. A interação significativa de genótipo x ambiente para o PGS indica a possibilidade de seleção de materiais mais adaptados para diferentes ambientes de MS. As médias de PGS obtidas com os genótipos mais produtivos indicam a possibilidade de sucesso no cultivo comercial de feijão-caupi de porte semi-ereto em MS
