Anti Acne Vulgaris Topical Cream From Combination Extract of Gymnanthemum Amygdalinum Del. and Elaeis Guineensis Jacq. Leaves
Acne is one problem in adolescents and adults who can reduce self-confidence. This study aimed to formulate the combination cream of African leaf extract and palm oil leaves to determine the antibacterial activity of African leaf extract against several acne-causing bacteria (Propionibacterium acne and Staphylococcus epidermidis). Test antibacterial activity of extracts and cream with disc diffusion method. The cream is made with concentration of 5, 10 and 20% w/w. The evaluation results of cream with concentration of 5, 10 and 20% were physically stable for 4 weeks of storage at temperature room, homogeneous, pH and it did not cause irritation. Based on the test results, a combination of African leaf extract with concentration of 5% effectively inhibited bacterial growth with an average inhibition zone diameter of 12.06 mm for Propionibacterium acne bacteria and 13.63 mm for Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. The result of this study suggest that combination of African leaf extract and palm leaves posses potent anti-bacterial activity against Propionibacterium acne and Staphylococcus epidermidis

Background: Arabica coffee leaves contain phenolic compounds and flavonoid compounds which act as antioxidants. Purpose: To find out whether arabica coffee leaf extract can be formulated in the form of an anti-aging pell-off gel mask. To find out at what concentration the arabica coffee leaf extract pell-off gel mask provides the best activity. Method: Arabica coffee leaf extract is made by maceration. Extract tested screening. Preparation of pell-off gel masks with concentrations of F0 (blanko), F1 (1%), F2 (3%), F3 (5%). Evaluation of the pell-off mask preparation included preparation stability, homogeneity, PH, irritation to volunteer skin, drying time, viscosity, spreadability, and anti-aging effectiveness using a skin analyzer. Results: Simplicia contains alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, phenols, steroids. The resulting pell-off mask preparation of ethanol extract of Arabica coffee leaves is homogeneous, PH 5.1-6.1 stable in 4 weeks storage, does not irritate the skin and takes 22- 30 minutes to dry, spreadability is 5-7.5 cm and viscosity 7500- 27050cp. Conclusion: Arabica coffee leaf ethanol extract pell-off gel mask provides better anti- aging effectiveness for 4 weeks. F3(5%) pell-off gelmask provides better anti-aging effects than other formulas

UJI EFEK ANTIINFLAMASI KOMBINASI EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN GYMNANTHEMUM AMYGDALINUM DEL. DAN ELAEIS GUINEENSIS JACQ.
Inflammation is a response from the body to injury or infection, flavonoids contained in African leaves (Gymnanthemum Amygdalinum Del.) And palm oil leaves (Elaeis Guineensis Jacq.) have anti-inflammatory effects. This study aims to examine the anti-inflammatory effects of a combination of ethanol extracts of Gymnanthemum Amygdalinum Del. And Elaeis Guineensis Jacq. on white rat foot edema which is induced by carrageenan 1% subplantar, and effective dosage as anti-inflammatory. The extract was made by maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent. The antiinflammatory effect test was divided into 5 treatment groups. The first group (negative control) was given 0.5% CMC Na suspension, the group (positive control) was given diclofenac Na suspension 2.25 mg / kg bw, and the suspension group was a combination of African leaf extract (Gymnanthemum Amygdalinum Del.) And palm oil leaves ( Elaeis Guineensis Jacq.) Dose 200 + 62.5 mg / kg bw, 400 + 125 mg / kg bw, and 800 + 250 mg / kg bw. Inflammation volume measurements were measured using a pletismometer for 180 minutes at 30 minute intervals after 1% carrageenan was induced. The results showed that negative controls had significant differences with other treatment groups which did not show anti-inflammatory effects. In conclusion, the suspension of a combination of ethanol extract of African leaves and palm oil leaves has an effective anti-inflammatory effect at a dose of 800 + 250 mg / kg bw
Oral acute toxicity study of ethanol extract of Mobe leaves (Artocarpus lacucha Buch-Ham) in Wistar rats
Many medicinal plants are now being chosen because the treatment is safer and cheaper. Artocarpus lacucha Buch-Ham is a plant with many pharmacological activities and is efficacious; its safety has not been studied. Acute oral toxicity evaluation followed Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development guidelines using the fixed dose method. The evaluation began with a preliminary test, then a primary test with three groups: a 2000 mg/Kg BW dose test group, a 5000 mg/Kg BW dose test group, and a control group. The results of visual observations, haematological and clinical examinations, and histological examination of organs (liver, spleen, kidneys, lungs and heart) showed no toxicity in the animals, and they did not die during testing. The findings of this study support the safety of Artocarpus lacucha Buch-Ham leaf ethanol extract, which did not produce harmful results in acute toxicity tests
The effect of 1.3 bis(p-Hydroxyphenyl)urea compound on IL-6, IL-1β, TNF-α and COX-2 protein expression on λ-Carrageenan-induced rats
Objectives: This study aims to determine the protein expression of IL-6, IL-1β, TNF-α, and COX-2 using an immunohistochemistry method based on the anti-inflammatory activity of intraplantar carrageenan solution in male rat paws. Materials and methods: Animals were provided with 1.3 bis(p-Hydroxyphenyl)urea at 12.5, 25, 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg BW. This was administered approximately one hour before the 1% carrageenan induction. As a control measure, diclofenac sodium and CMC sodium 0.5% was similarly administered. After 360 mins, all of the rats were sacrificed, and the inflammatory tissue in the rat’s paw was acquired. The immunohistochemistry preparations were carried out to observe the expression of IL-6, IL-1β, TNF-α, and COX-2. Results: The result showed a decrease in the expression of IL-6, IL-1β, TNF-α, and COX-2, all groups given 1.3 bis(p-Hydroxyphenyl)urea and diclofenac sodium compared to the control group CMC sodium 0.5% CMC sodium 0.5%. From the results of the mean difference test, it can be seen that the IL-1β expression at doses of 50, 100, and 200 mg/Kg BW was not significantly different from that of diclofenac sodium (p > 0.05). Meanwhile, the expression of COX-2, TNF-α, and IL-6 at doses of 100 and 200 mg/Kg BW was not significantly different from that of diclofenac sodium (p > 0.05). Conclusion: The 1.3 bis(p-Hydroxyphenyl)urea has anti-inflammatory activity by decreasing the percentage of IL-6, IL-1β, TNF-α, and COX-2 protein expression in rat’s paw inflammation tissue
