Stepwise Iterative Fourier Transform: The SIFT

    Get PDF
A program, designed specifically to study the respective effects of some common data problems on results obtained through stepwise iterative Fourier transformation of synthetic data with known waveform composition, was outlined. Included in this group were the problems of gaps in the data, different time-series lengths, periodic but nonsinusoidal waveforms, and noisy (low signal-to-noise) data. Results on sinusoidal data were also compared with results obtained on narrow band noise with similar characteristics. The findings showed that the analytic procedure under study can reliably reduce data in the nature of (1) sinusoids in noise, (2) asymmetric but periodic waves in noise, and (3) sinusoids in noise with substantial gaps in the data. The program was also able to analyze narrow-band noise well, but with increased interpretational problems. The procedure was shown to be a powerful technique for analysis of periodicities, in comparison with classical spectrum analysis techniques. However, informed use of the stepwise procedure nevertheless requires some background of knowledge concerning characteristics of the biological processes under study

Empirical tests of a particular least squares multiple prediction program were studied, as well as the relationship of this particular program to general least squares multiple prediction theory. Empirical evaluation and test of the program involved: (1) conversion of the program to run on an IBM 360/44 with replication of test results obtained on a Univac 1108; and (2) generation and analysis of Monte Carlo simulated data with the objective of comparison against results theoretically obtainable from spectrum analysis routines

SCHOOL COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIP: PROPULSION FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE PRACTICES IN SECONDARY SCHOOL IN NIGERIA

    Get PDF
This paper focuses on the impact of school community relationship as propulsion for quality assurance practices in secondary schools in Nigeria. The study is an impulse which presents and explains such conceptual issues as: education, quality assurance, and the roles of government in planned curriculum, school and community partnership building, Importance of school community relationship, school community partnership building, school management and leadership and effective quality assurance of teacher and student. The paper therefore sought and found quality assurance in education as a systematic management, monitoring and evaluation procedure adopted to measure the performance of school administration, and improvement drives coming from principals/teacher quality and instructional effectiveness as essential factors in the classroom as inputs/outputs drive. Furthermore, it recommended that Parents and teachers should not allow the management of their schools to the hands of the school administrators alone hence their contribution is vital and necessary for the development of the schools. School managers should create a conducive environment for old students associations to effectively operate in their schools and where they are not in existence, the school heads should find ways of bringing the old students together for the benefit of the school and the community in general. Schools should also provide enough advisory committee members that can be able to guide both teachers and learners to achieve their objectives in life and the plans of the school. Then recommended that, partnership envisaged cuts across different, but mutually inclusive groups of stakeholders: the private sector, international development agencies and families of learners being the utmost benefactors of the products of the educational system, who needed to be co-opted into the pursuit of quality education in secondary schools in Nigeria by government.  Article visualizations

The subject of the analysis is a picture of the Mother of God painted as the Immaculate in full form, in two versions, differing in the symbols of the Holy Trinity. Both paintings were made according to a preliminary design, which had been performed in pastels on carton. Artist Adolf Hyła painted them according to an account by Mother Paula Zofia Tajber, founder of the Gathering of the Most Holy Soul of Our Lord Jesus, who on 13 September 1953 had a vision in which Our Lady appeared to her in the gathering's original chapel in Prądnik Biały.

The town of Dubno on the Ikva river near Lutsk in Volhynia is known for the former residence of the Ostrogski ordinates. In addition to the Parish Church of St John of Nepomuk, at the beginning of the 17th c. the Ostrogski family funded a monastery for the Bernardines, along with the Immaculate Conception BVM Church. With a privilege granted in Lublin on 5 June 1688, Józef Karol Lubomirski and his wife Teofila Ludwika bequeathed an area of land in their castle orchard to Carmelite Sisters for a church and a monastery. Przywilejem wydanym w Lublinie, dnia 5 czerwca 1688 r. Józef Karol Lubomirski, koniuszy koronny, wraz z małżonką Teofilą Ludwiką, zapisali karmelitankom w swoim sadzie zamkowym plac pod kościół i klasztor, wraz z murami dawnej łaźni i figarni

The Discalced Camaldolese arrived in Poznań in 1618. In a garden purchased from Elżbieta Michanówna they built the original wooden monastery dedicated to St Joseph. In 1635–1687, on the land of the manor bequeathed by Barbara Orzelska, the Camaldolese built a stone monastery and St Joseph's Church. Among the architects and builders of St Joseph's Church were: Giovanni Catenaci, Krzysztof Bonadura the Older and Krzysztof Bonadura the Younger. After the Second World War, the Discalced Camaldolese regained their property in a state of ruin. It took many years to reconstruct and renovate the heritage site. The present furnishings of the Church were made in the years 1985–1990.Il convento e la chiesa dei carmelitani scalzi a Poznań costruita nel 1618 è primo e il più antico tempio in Polonia dedicato a San Giuseppe. Karmelici bosi przybyli do Poznania w 1618 roku. Country’s image as judged by international indices: Case of Tanzania

    Get PDF
This paper presented various international indices and how Tanzania is judged by them. The purpose was to reveal to different stakeholders and policy makers how this country is perceived by outsiders such as foreign donor countries, investors, tourist or international bodies. The methodology involved empirical review of literatures combined with regression analysis to capture the impact of the indices on economic aspects like Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). The findings indicated that Tanzania’s performance in most of indices is low though improving. The related effects of this level of performance include persistence level of poverty, limited economic growth, reduced inflow of investments and diminishing trust of citizens to their government. The regression analysis indicated that the indices influence FDI both positively (political stability, government effectiveness, regulatory quality, rule of law and institutional quality) and negatively (control of corruption) in varying degrees. It was recommended that various stakeholders who are decision makers in relation to these indicators such as the government, parliaments, regulatory bodies, NGO’s and individuals, take initiative accordingly, in order to reverse the situation where country’s scores are low
