Qutrit witness from the Grothendieck constant of order four
In this paper, we prove that , where denotes the
Grothendieck constant of order . To this end, we use a branch-and-bound
algorithm commonly used in the solution of NP-hard problems. It has recently
been proven that . Here we prove that ,
which has implications for device-independent witnessing dimensions greater
than two. Furthermore, the algorithm with some modifications may find
applications in various black-box quantum information tasks with large number
of inputs and outputs.Comment: 13 pages, 2 figure
Bounding the persistency of the nonlocality of W states
The nonlocal properties of the W states are investigated under particle loss.
By removing all but two particles from an -qubit W state, the resulting
two-qubit state is still entangled. Hence, the W state has high persistency of
entanglement. We ask an analogous question regarding the persistency of
nonlocality introduced in [Phys. Rev. A 86, 042113]. Namely, we inquire what is
the minimal number of particles that must be removed from the W state so that
the resulting state becomes local. We bound this value in function of
qubits by considering Bell nonlocality tests with two alternative settings per
site. In particular, we find that this value is between and for
large . We also develop a framework to establish bounds for more than two
settings per site.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figure
Elemi reakciók dinamikájának és kinetikájának elméleti vizsgálata = Theoretical studies of the dynamics and kinetics of elementary reactions
Elemi kémiai reakciók dinamikáját tanulmányoztuk kváziklasszikus trajektória módszerrel. Főbb eredményeink a következők: 1. Direkt dinamikai úton megállapítottuk, hogy a metán és H atom reakciójában a nagy ütközési paraméterrel induló ütközések dominálnak és határozzák meg a termékeknek a kísérletekben megfigyelt szórási szög szerinti eloszlását; 2. a triplett oxigénatom és etén reakciójában a termékek kb. fele nemadiabatikus átmenet következtében szingulett állapotban képződik; 3. az O + O2 és a H + O2 reakcióban keletkező komplex élettartam-eloszlása nem exponenciális, egyik reakció sem írható le statisztikus reakciókinetikai elméletekkel; 4. a H + O2 reakció sebességét jelentősen megnöveli az O2 molekula rotációs gerjesztése; 5. a H + HX(v) (X=F,Cl) reakcióban nagy rezgési gerjesztettség esetén a reaktív hatáskeresztmetszet divergál a reaktánsok relatív kinetikus energiájának csökkenésével, amit a HX rotációs gerjesztése megakadályoz. Nagy rezgési kvantumszám esetén a reakció negatív aktiválási energiával jellemezhető. Alacsony ütközési energiáknál a reakcióban jelentős a "roaming atom" mechanizmus szerepe. Meghatároztuk és jellemeztük az acetonilgyök + O2, a CH3OOH + OH, a C6H5SO3H + OH és a triplett (C6H5)2CO + (CH3)2CHOH reakciók potenciálfelületének stacionárius pontjait. | Dynamics of elementary chemical reactions were studied in quasiclassical trajectory calculations. The main conclusions are: 1. using the direct dynamics method we found that in the reaction of methane and H atoms the large impact parameter collisions play a dominant role and determine the shape of the experimentally observed product angular distribution. 2. Using the trajectory surface hopping method we established that in the reaction of triplet oxygen atoms with ethene, about 50% of the products correlate with the singlet reactant because of nonadiabatic transitions. 3. In the O + O2 and H + O2 reactions the lifetime distribution of the complex formed initially is not exponential, these two reactions can not be described by statistical theories. 4. The rate of the H + O2 reaction is the significantly enhanced by rotational excitation of the O2 molecule. 5. In the H + HX reactions (X=F, Cl) at large reactant vibrational excitation the reactive cross section diverges as the initial collision energy tends to zero. Rotational excitation of the HX reactant prevents the divergence of cross sections. The reaction is characterized by negative activation energy if the reactant vibrational excitation is large. At low collision energies the 'roaming atom' mechanism plays a significant role. We have determined and characterized the stationary points on the potential surfaces of the following reactions: acetonyl + O2; CH3OOH + OH; C6H5SO3H + OH; (C6H5)2CO(triplet) + (CH3)2CHOH
Beating one bit of communication with and without quantum pseudo-telepathy
According to Bell's theorem, certain entangled states cannot be simulated
classically using local hidden variables (LHV). But if can we augment LHV by
classical communication, how many bits are needed to simulate them? There is a
strong evidence that a single bit of communication is powerful enough to
simulate projective measurements on any two-qubit entangled state. In this
study, we present Bell-like scenarios where bipartite correlations resulting
from projective measurements on higher dimensional states cannot be simulated
with a single bit of communication. These include a three-input, a four-input,
a seven-input, and a 63-input bipartite Bell-like inequality with 80089, 64,
16, and 2 outputs, respectively. Two copies of emblematic Bell expressions,
such as the Magic square pseudo-telepathy game, prove to be particularly
powerful, requiring a state to beat the one-bit classical bound,
and look a promising candidate for implementation on an optical platform.Comment: 11 pages, 4 table
Bound entangled singlet-like states for quantum metrology
Bipartite entangled quantum states with a positive partial transpose (PPT),
i.e., PPT entangled states, are usually considered very weakly entangled. Since
no pure entanglement can be distilled from them, they are also called bound
entangled. In this paper we present two classes of ()-dimensional
PPT entangled states for any which outperform all separable states in
metrology significantly. We present strong evidence that our states provide the
maximal metrological gain achievable by PPT states for a given system size.
When the dimension goes to infinity, the metrological gain of these states
becomes maximal and equals the metrological gain of a pair of maximally
entangled qubits. Thus, we argue that our states could be called "PPT
singlets."Comment: 17 pages including 3 figures, revtex4.2; v2: presentation improved,

A méréseket szerkezeti modellekből számolt mennyiségekkel (HRTEM szimuláció, kinematikus diffrakció) hasonlítottuk össze. Inhomogén, összetett szerkezeti modellek megalkotását (atomi koordináták számítását) is saját fejlesztésű programunk segíti. Módszereinket a következő problémák megoldásánál használtuk: grafén sík-darabokat tartalmazó CNx-szerkezetek kialakulása; félvezetők (Ge, Si) és fémek reakcióinak kezdeti szakaszai; légköri eredetű koromszemcsék és vulkanikus szilikátok felépítése; beágyazottan izolált Co-szemcsék előállítása és fázisszelekciója; SiC poláros tulajdonságainak hatása a növekedésre; Cu/Mg multirétegekben az intermetallikus nukleációjának aszimmetriája. Eredményeinket nemzetközi konferenciákon és iskolákon mutattuk be és 11 referált folyóiratcikkben közöltük (kumulatív impakt faktor 27,24). | We developed quantitative transmission electron microscopy methods within the framework of the project and demonstrated the utility of them in solving problems from materials science. With the help of imaging plates, experimental images from real space (HRTEM) and from reciprocal space (diffraction patterns) were recorded with high accuracy (with one million gray levels). We developed a new method to process both the electron diffraction (ED) patterns and the HRTEM images quantitatively to result in both qualitative and quantitative phase analysis and to index patterns from individual crystal grains. The measured quantities were compared to similar ones (simulated HRTEM images and calculated kinematic diffraction), calculated from structural models. Construction of a structural model for inhomogeneous, complex structures is helped by a computer program also developed in this project. These methods helped us in solving the following problems: development of CNx structures from curved gaphene-sheets; initial stages of reaction between semiconductors (Ge, Si) and metals; structure of airborne soot particles and of volcanic silicates; formation of embedded, isolated Co nanoparticles and the phase selection during their formation; effect of the polarity of SiC on the growth; asymmetry in the nucleation of the intermetallic in Cu/Mg multilayer systems. Or results were presented at international conferences and schools and published in 11 papers in referenced journals (with cumulative impact factor of 27.24)
