Changes in the Balance Sheet of the U.S. Manufacturing Sector, 1926-1977
This is a report on the results of a research project, sponsored by the NBER's Program on Financial Markets and Monetary Economics, which involves the collection and organization of income account and balance sheet data, at the firm level, for the years 1926-77. The primary data source for the study is Moody's Industrial Manual. Working at the firm level, it is possible to obtain accurate information on the market values of traded securities.This paper presents and discusses some of the aggregate characteristics of the dataset and also reports the results of estimating a simple portfolio model which attempts to explain changes in firm balance sheet flows for the periods 1927-35 and 1965-77.The data collected for the study, as well as software necessary to manage them efficiently, are available from the authors. An NBER Technical Paper will shortly be available to describe the dataset and software in detail.

Causal Fermion Systems: A Quantum Space-Time Emerging from an Action Principle
Causal fermion systems are introduced as a general mathematical framework for
formulating relativistic quantum theory. By specializing, we recover earlier
notions like fermion systems in discrete space-time, the fermionic projector
and causal variational principles. We review how an effect of spontaneous
structure formation gives rise to a topology and a causal structure in
space-time. Moreover, we outline how to construct a spin connection and
curvature, leading to a proposal for a "quantum geometry" in the Lorentzian
setting. We review recent numerical and analytical results on the support of
minimizers of causal variational principles which reveal a "quantization
effect" resulting in a discreteness of space-time. A brief survey is given on

Equivariant geometric K-homology for compact Lie group actions
Let G be a compact Lie-group, X a compact G-CW-complex. We define equivariant
geometric K-homology groups K^G_*(X), using an obvious equivariant version of
the (M,E,f)-picture of Baum-Douglas for K-homology. We define explicit natural
transformations to and from equivariant K-homology defined via KK-theory (the

UAS in the Airspace: A Review on Integration, Simulation, Optimization, and Open Challenges
Air transportation is essential for society, and it is increasing gradually
due to its importance. To improve the airspace operation, new technologies are
under development, such as Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). In fact, in the
past few years, there has been a growth in UAS numbers in segregated airspace.
However, there is an interest in integrating these aircraft into the National
Airspace System (NAS). The UAS is vital to different industries due to its
advantages brought to the airspace (e.g., efficiency). Conversely, the
relationship between UAS and Air Traffic Control (ATC) needs to be well-defined
due to the impacts on ATC capacity these aircraft may present. Throughout the
years, this impact may be lower than it is nowadays because the current lack of
familiarity in this relationship contributes to higher workload levels.
Thereupon, the primary goal of this research is to present a comprehensive
review of the advancements in the integration of UAS in the National Airspace
System (NAS) from different perspectives. We consider the challenges regarding
simulation, final approach, and optimization of problems related to the
interoperability of such systems in the airspace. Finally, we identify several
