Crystallization heat treatment curves of barium disilicate glass / Curvas de tratamento térmico de cristalização de vidro de dissilicato de bário

The transformation of glasses into glass-ceramics by heat treatment has been widely studied to increase the toughness of glasses. Barium disilicate is a material that can be toughened this way, greatly increasing its range of applications. To predict the fraction of crystals as a function of heat treatment time and temperature, it is necessary to draw the curves relating these three quantities. For this, data on the nucleation rate and growth rate of barium disilicate crystals were obtained from the literature and processed in order to obtain equations as a function of temperature. These equations were applied to the Johnson-Mehl-Avrami (JMA) equation and integrated in the intervals corresponding to the isothermal treatments, constant cooling from the melting temperature and constant heating from the glass transition temperature, thus obtaining the curves for these three types of heat treatment.

As a part of a project conducted by the University of Padua on the wool production in the Roman Venetia, the paper focuses on a group of loom weights found in the late nineteenth century near Castagnaro (Verona). Kinetics of Circulating Plasma Cell-Free DNA in Paediatric Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma

Levels of plasma cell-free DNA (cfDNA) of a large series of children with classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) were evaluated and analyzed at diagnosis and during chemotherapy treatment in relation with clinical characteristics. CfDNA levels in cHL patients were significantly higher compared with controls (p=0.002). CfDNA at diagnosis was correlated with presence of B symptoms (p=0.027) and high erythrocyte sedimentation rate (p=0.049). We found that the increasing of plasma cfDNA after first chemotherapy cycle seems to be associated with a worse prognosis (p=0.049). Levels of plasma cfDNA might constitute an interesting non-invasive tool in cHL patients' management

Compositional optimization for molding of bioactive glasses in the SiO2-Na2O-CaO-P2O5 system/ Otimização da composição para moldagem de vidros bioativos no sistema SiO2-Na2O-CaO-P2O5

This paper shows the determination of the most energy efficient composition for molding of bioglasses in the SiO2 -Na2O-CaO-P2O5 system. Ten compositions were formulated in the range where the glass has a bioactivity index greater than 8 and the curves of viscosity as a function of temperature were drawn using the Vogel-Fulcher-Tammann (VFT) equation. Analyzing the curves, the composition 43SiO2 -30CaO-21Na2O-6P2O5 has the lowest viscosity over the entire working temperature range, requiring less heat to be molded and consequently consuming less energy in the ovens

Could (Disseminated and Residual) Minimal Disease be a useful prognostic marker in non-Hodgkin paediatric Lymphomas?

Minimal Disseminated Disease (MDD) represents the small number of tumour cells in the patients' bone marrow at the time of diagnosis, whereas Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) represents the small number of tumour cells remaining in the bone marrow during treatment. Generally, MDD and MRD are measured by polymerase chain reaction, a highly sensitive technique. For a long time, bone marrow involvement has been considered an uncommon event in solid tumours. However, in recent years, several studies demonstrated that MDD and MRD could be powerful tools in paediatric non-Hodgkin lymphoma for stratifying patients in different prognostic groups. Risk stratification in future clinical trials on non-Hodgkin lymphoma based on these newly identified risk categories should be useful to improve therapies in order to increase survival for high-risk patients and decrease toxicity for low-risk patients

COMPORTAMENTO DO CONSUMIDOR DE VINHOS DA REGIÃO DAS MISSÕES: UMA INVESTIGAÇÃO SOBRE OS FATORES INFLUENCIADORES

Este estudo analisa o comportamento do consumidor de vinhos da Região das Missões - RS, a partir da investigação de quais fatores mais influenciam os hábitos de consumo, entre os fatores psicológicos, sociais, culturais e pessoais. No que diz respeito à base teórica, essa foi construída pautada em conceitos de comportamento do consumidor, bem como nos quatro fatores que o influenciam. Além disso, apresenta-se uma breve contextualização do vinho no RS. Quanto aos procedimentos metodológicos, esta pesquisa, caracterizada como descritiva de abordagem quantitativa ,investigou 158 pessoas em três municípios: Cerro Largo, São Luiz Gonzaga e Santo Ângelo, pro meio de uma pesquisa survey. Os questionários foram aplicados presencialmente junto aos respondentes. No que tange aos resultados, percebeu-se que os fatores que mais impactam o comportamento do consumidor de vinhos da região estudada são os fatores sociais, recebendo destaque a influência da família no comportamento de consumo. Além disso, entre os fatores motivadores do consumo de vinho, segundo a percepção dos respondentes, está o fato de a bebida fazer bem para a saúde, além de provocar sensação de bem-estar. Quanto às ocasiões de consumo, a maior parte dos respondentes gosta de consumir vinho em sua própria residência. No que diz respeito aos critérios utilizados para a escolha do vinho, a maioria costuma dar importância à cor da bebida e, quanto aos locais de aquisição, mais da metade dos respondentes costuma adquirir vinhos em viagens.Palavras-Chave: Comportamento do Consumidor.
