    Fund Finder: A case study of database-to-ontology mapping

    The mapping between databases and ontologies is a basic problem when trying to "upgrade" deep web content to the semantic web. Our approach suggests the declarative definition of mappings as a way to achieve domain independency and reusability. A specific language (expressive enough to cover some real world mapping situations like lightly structured databases or not 1st normal form ones) is defined for this purpose. Along with this mapping description language, the ODEMapster processor is in charge of carrying out the effective instance data migration. We illustrate this by testing both the mappings definition and processor on a case study

    We present R2O, an extensible and declarative language to describe mappings between relational DB schemas and ontologies implemented in RDF(S) or OWL. R2O provides an extensible set of primitives with welldefined semantics. This language has been conceived expressive enough to cope with complex mapping cases arisen from situations of low similarity between the ontology and the DB models

    Se estudian especies de hongos recolectados sobre materias fecales, Myxomycetes, Ascomycetes, y Basidiomycetes. Resultan nuevas citas para el catálogo micológico español 14 especies: Ascomycetes: Bombardia arachnoidea, Podospora dakotensis, P. pistillata, P. platensis, Saccobolus citrinus, S. obscurus, Sporormiella australis, S. dakotensis, S. grandispora, S. lageniformis, y S. vexans; Basidiomycetes: Coprinus stellatus, Coprinus cineratus, Panaeolus retirugis.     En aquest article els autors presenten una anàlisi de l'impacte que va tenir l'aprovació de la Llei Moyano (1857) en l'ensenyament del Baix Llobregat. En el treball s'ofereix una visió panoràmica de la situació de l'ensenyament primari a tota la comarca, que depenia llavors de Sant Feliu de Llobregat, població que actuava de cap de partit. Per tal de realitzar aquesta investigació, els autors s'han basat en l'informe que l'inspector Bruno Barnoya va concloure el 4 de juliol de 1858, quan encara no feia un any que s'havia aprovat la Llei Moyano. A través de les informacions recollides i de les estadístiques elaborades, es confirma el lamentable estat en què es trobava l'ensenyament primari, molt especialment pel que fa a les nenes, amb unes escoles mal dotades, uns mestres mancats generalment de la preparació pertinent i abandonats sovint pels poders municipals, responsables llavors del seu sosteniment.In this article, the authors present an analysis of the impact of the Moyano Law (1857) on teaching in Baix Llobregat. The work offers an overview of the situation of primary teaching in the region, at that time under Sant Feliu de Llobregat, the town that acted as party head. To perform this research, the authors drew mainly from the report by inspector Bruno Barnoya, closed on July 4, 1858, when the Moyano law had not yet been enacted. The information collected and the statistics generated confirm the regrettable condition of primary teaching at the time, very particularly with regard to girls, with poorly equipped schools, under-qualified teachers, all abandoned by the municipal authorities that were supposedly responsible for supporting them

    Peer relationships and perceptions during adolescence: academic and psychological implications

    Las relaciones entre iguales son especialmente importantes durante la adolescencia. En la presente tesis se ha evaluado cómo las relaciones sociales positivas medidas como aceptación social y amistad influyen en el rendimiento académico a lo largo de la adolescencia. Se ha examinado la relación entre percepción de aceptación y rendimiento académico, y propuesto un modelo mediacional a través del grado de ajuste entre percepción y realidad de los adolescentes. Además, desde una perspectiva integradora, se ha investigado el papel de las relaciones sociales (medidas como aceptación y rechazo social), la necesidad básica de relaciones y la reparación emocional en la aparición y mantenimiento de la soledad. La muestra consiste en un total de 800 adolescentes de entre 11 y 16 años que participaron en tres tomas de datos a lo largo de dos cursos académicos con un intervalo de tiempo de seis meses. Los resultados de los análisis de regresión transversal y longitudinal mostraron un efecto moderador de la edad en la relación entre aceptación social y rendimiento académico. Los resultados de los modelos mediacionales propuestos entre percepción de aceptación y rendimiento académico a través del grado de ajuste entre percepción y realidad resultaron significativos y consistentes de forma transversal y longitudinal. Los resultados de un diseño de panel longitudinal de tres tiempos mostraron dos mecanismos diferentes de la influencia de aceptación social, rechazo social, necesidad de relaciones y reparación emocional sobre la soledad. Para concluir, se desprenden implicaciones académicas y psicológicas de las relaciones sociales analizadas durante la adolescencia.Peer relationships are especially important during adolescence. This doctoral thesis examined the role of peer relationships measured as peer acceptance and friendship on academic achievement during adolescence. Investigated the relation between perception of acceptance and academic achievement and proposed a mediational model in which the degree of correspondence of selfother perceptions of acceptance is mediating the relation between selfperception of acceptance and academic achievement. Moreover, from an integrative perspective, this thesis examined whether emotional repair, relatedness need, and indicators of peer relations influenced loneliness longitudinally among adolescents. The sample consisted of 373 adolescents aged 11 to 16 years old. Data collection was carried out across three time points with a six month interval. The results of the regression analyses showed that the relation between peer acceptance and academic achievement is moderated by age, cross-sectional and longitudinally. The mediation models in which the degree of correspondence of self-other perceptions of acceptance is mediating the relation between self-perception of acceptance and academic achievement were significant and presented consistency longitudinally. Results of a crosslagged panel design with three time points showed different paths of influence of peer acceptance, peer rejection, relatedness, and emotional repair on loneliness. Academic and psychological implications regarding peer relationships have been found.<br /
