    PRECONDITIONS FOR SUCCESS OF VOCATIONAL COUNSELLING OF PUPILS HAVING SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

    In contemporary society that is getting more and more modern maximal revelation of person’s possibilities, successful adaptation to the needs of labour market have great importance, therefore, effective and timely vocational counselling has decisive influence on person’s successful socialization and integration. The most vulnerable part of the society – people having special educational needs (SEN) belongs to the great risk group that is at risk to experience social exclusion, become long-term unemployed and find themselves below the limit of poverty. In 2011 in Lithuania the action research was performed in which 95 students having SEN participated. During the research internal and external factors conditioning the success of vocational counselling have become distinct. Stable relations in a family, adequate evaluation of one’s wishes and possibilities, early planning of vocational career are important preconditions for vocational adaptation of students having SEN

    У статті розглядаються психологічні особливості студентів що мають інвалідність. Виявлені їхні індивідуально-психологічні особливості, свідчать про переважаючу сформованість у даної категорії осіб ефективних моделей взаємодії із соціальним оточенням, адекватного самоприйняття, достатньо активну суб’єктну життєву позицію. Визначено, що найбільше значення на розвиток складових самодетермінації студентів з інвалідністю мають такі особистісні утворення як життєві цілі, особистісна автономія, прагнення до особистісного зростання, впевненість в собі.The article describes the psychological characteristics of students with disabilities. Their individual psychological characteristics are identified and they indicate existence at such students of effective models of interactions with their social environment, adequate self-acceptance, enough active life philosophy. The article determines that such personality formations as life goals, personal autonomy, desire for personal growth, self-confidence are the most important for development of self-determination of students with disabilities

    PURSUIT OF INCLUSIVE EDUCATION: INCLUSION OF TEACHERS IN INCLUSIVE EDUCATION

    By focusing on teachers’ approach, the article analyses one of the most relevant issues of today’s realities of education – the inclusive education. The following is an important task for politicians for education, school leaders, teachers and greatly affects and influences the life of families with children with disabilities. Object of the research: inclusion of teachers in inclusive education. Aim of the research: to examine aspects of teachers’ inclusion in inclusive education by implementing the statistical analysis according to The Teachers’ Attitudes Toward Inclusion Scale (TATIS) survey (Gregory, Noto, Cullen, 2010). This study adopted a descriptive survey research design, with 105 teachers as participants from selected secondary schools in Klaipėda city and Klaipėda district, Lithuania. Research results: A study has been conducted demonstrating that the attitudes of educators participating in the study to inclusive education of pupils with a disability are basically positive. The analysis of the research data received allow the teachers are not sufficiently prepared to provide assistance to their students with orientation towards the inclusive training tasks. Teachers who participated in the study agree that all school classes should be rebuilt to meet the needs of students with disabilities and that students with disabilities should be taught in a general education school in an equal educational environment with peers without disabilities. The differences between teachers' attitudes to the inclusive education model and the type of pedagogical school were statistically significant. More than just a gymnasium teacher, either a progymnist or a primary school teacher, fully agrees that the model of inclusive education ensures a more effective transition of pupils with disabilities from special education to general education schools

    Coping with the difficulties according to the model of coping process created by Moos and Schaefer (Bagdonas (managing editor), 2007, p. 198) depends on personal features, social resources, ability to evaluate the situation. If there are no resources required, a person cannot employ suitable coping strategies. The more person’s mental health is disordered the more his/her coping is directed towards emotions and less adaptive behaviour. It is also reflected in coping with the difficulties among persons with mental disorders who grew up under institutional care. The article generalizes the researches on how persons with mental disorders who have left institutional care for children and youth cope with their difficulties, what coping strategies they use

    MUSIC THERAPY FOR PEOPLE IN A DISABILITY SITUATION: METHODOLOGY AND PROCESS

    The research was constructed on the ground of the ideas of postpositivism, when the research data based on personal experience is of not lesser importance than “clinical” evidence. Our research aimed at answering the following questions: At what extent is music theory useful to people with mental disability? At what extent are the authorial methods of application of music theory designed by the investigators useful? At what extent are the participants able to express their feelings and evaluate the process of music therapy? The initial research results suggest that the authorial methods based on the ecological systems theory are effective and useful to the practice of social work in the Occupational Day Centre while providing services to individuals with mental disabilities. The obtained research data allows stating that the way chosen by the investigators to assess effectiveness of music therapy (filling in small books and conversations while filling them in) enables participants reveal their condition, feelings as well as evaluate the process of music therapy
