Relationship maintenance behavior and adult attachment: an analysis of the actor-partner interdependence model

Associations between relationships maintenance behaviors (positivity, openness, assurances, and sharing tasks) and anxious and avoidant attachment were examined in 265 married couples. Using structural equation modeling to employ the actor-partner interdependence model, the use of positivity, assurances and sharing tasks were found to be negatively associated with anxious and avoidant attachment for both husbands and wives. Being open and self-disclosing in marriage was not strongly associated with attachment. Results indicated that the use of maintenance behaviors in marriages could have the potential to foster increased security in partners. Research and clinical implications are discussed

The purpose of this paper is to introduce an integrative approach to working with clients experiencing problems related to financial disempowerment. The multi-phase model integrates three theoretically-driven psychotherapy approaches, including cognitive behavioral, narrative, and Virginia Satir’s experiential therapies, and financial counseling techniques to increase one’s sense of financial empowerment. ‘Brexit’ which means exit of United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU) is not only a European issue but has varied implications throughout the world, especially amongst its trading nations. This conceptual paper first discusses pros and cons of Brexit on UK and EU. This is seen in the light of Brexit impact on trade, unemployment rate and inflation rate. It further discusses some of the immediate implication Brexit might have on New Zealand, which is the EU’s third largest trading partner. The discussion is based on the impact post-Brexit may have in terms of trade, employment, GDP and the tourism sector in New Zealand

Nullity of a graph with a cut-edge

The nullity of a graph is known to be an analytical tool to predict reactivity and conductivity of molecular π-systems. In this paper we consider the change in nullity when graphs with a cut-edge, and others derived from them, undergo geometrical operations. In particular, we consider the deletion of edges and vertices, the contraction of edges and the insertion of an edge at a coalescence vertex. We also derive three inequalities on the nullity of graphs along the same lines as the consequences of the Interlacing Theorem. These results shed light, in the tight-binding source and sink potential model, on the behaviour of molecular graphs which allow or bar conductivity in the cases when the connections are either distinct or ipso.peer-reviewe

Coalescing Fiedler and core vertices

The nullity of a graph G is the multiplicity of zero as an eigenvalue in the spectrum of its adjacency matrix. From the interlacing theorem, derived from Cauchy’s inequalities for matrices, a vertex of a graph can be a core vertex if, on deleting the vertex, the nullity decreases, or a Fiedler vertex, otherwise. We adopt a graph theoretical approach to determine conditions required for the identification of a pair of prescribed types of root vertices of two graphs to form a cut-vertex of unique type in the coalescence. Moreover, the nullity of subgraphs obtained by perturbations of the coalescence G is determined relative to the nullity of G. This has direct applications in spectral graph theory as well as in the construction of certain ipso-connected nano-molecular insulators.peer-reviewe

A reduction in the amount of biomass due to forest management is expected to affect both the amount of new OM going into the soil and its microbial decomposability due to changes in soil environmental conditions. These changes should impact soil microbial communities, their activity and decomposition rates, affecting the amount and quality of organic carbon (OC) remaining in the soil. In order to obtain information on the effect of land-use change on the OM quantity and quality, its origin and its degree of stabilization (i.e., microbial decomposability), we characterized the amount of OC, the lignin and polysaccharide compounds by wet chemical analysis, as well as basal respiration rates across a disturbance gradient (n=20) in a semiarid Chaco forest of central Argentina. Disturbance reduced the amount and quality of litterfall, reflected in a reduction in SOM content. Soil carbohydrates content followed the same trend but lignin was not affected by land-use change. Although basal CO2 effluxes showed the same pattern than SOM content, when normalized per OC content, they showed the opposite trend, with higher CO2 released per C in sites with lower OC and carbohydrates content. Our results support the idea that in the semi-arid Chaco forest, chemically labile compounds are more vulnerable to disturbance, but also that OM could be protected and stabilized regardless of its chemical identity.Fil: Conti, G.
