The aim of this study is to investigate the utilization of strategies in EFL writing creativity. It also aims to investigate the barriers that face EFL students in the promotion of their creativity in EFL writing. The present study made use of a qualitative approach to obtain data from the one hundred branches of Discovery Schools (DSs) located in Amman, Jordan for the Academic year 2012/2013. This study lasts for six months, categorized into three phases namely pre-pilot, pilot and the actual/main study, with each phase lasting for two months. Utilizing convenience sampling, the present study chose ten EFL teachers, who teach first secondary students and eight students who did not do well on TTCT. Two instruments were employed to collect data namely, semi-structured interviews and observations. To check the trustworthiness and credibility of qualitative data, the researcher utilized two strategies namely; Triangulation and member check. The results showed that participating teachers' responses to the interviews revealed five primary themes with sub-themes. These themes are getting students’ started in writing, encouraging students to keep on writing, focusing on instruction, valuing students’ writings and encouraging students to be creative. The observations results showed some discrepancies in the actual use of these themes adopted by teachers in the classroom. The results of students during interviews showed that all eight students provided their opinions concerning the constraining factors that they encounter while promoting their EFL writing creativity. Their responses were categorized into five themes namely inadequate vocabulary, lack of unity and coherence, lack of encouragement, lack of positive feedback and lack of motivation. Keywords: Writing Strategies, Creativity in EFL writing, Writing Barriers, Jordanian Secondary School Students

VM Selection Process Management for Live Migration in Cloud Data Centers

    Get PDF
With immense success and fast growth within the past few years, cloud computing has been established as the dominant computing paradigm in information technology (IT) industry, wherein it utilizes dissipated resource benefits and supports resource sharing and time access flexibility. The proliferation of cloud computing has resulted in the establishment of large-scale data centers across the world, consisting of hundreds of thousands, even millions of servers. The emerging cloud computing paradigm provides administrators and IT organizations with considerable freedom to dynamically migrate virtualized computing services among physical servers in cloud data centers. Normally, these data centers incur very high investment and operating costs for the computing and network devices as well as for the energy consumption. Virtualization and virtual machine (VM) migration offers significant benefits such as load balancing, server consolidation, online maintenance and proactive fault tolerance along data centers. VM migration relies on how to determine the trigger condition of VM migration, select the target virtual machine, and choose the destination node. As a result, dynamic VM migration in the scope of resource management is becoming a crucial issue to emphasize on optimal resource utilization, maximum throughput, minimum response time, enhancing scalability, avoiding over-provisioning of resources and prevention of overload to make cloud computing successful. Intelligent host underload/overload detection, VM selection, and VM placement are the primary means to address VM migration issue. Therefore, these three problems are considered to be the most common tasks in VM migration. This thesis presents novel techniques, models, and algorithms, for distributed dynamic consolidation of virtual machines in cloud data centers. The goal is to improve the utilization of computing resources and reduce energy consumption under workload independent quality of service constraints. The proposed approaches are distributed and efficient in managing the energy-performance trade-off

The current study aims to know to what level teachers of students with intellectual disabilities have educational efficiency in the governorate of Kerak. To achieve the targets of this study, both researchers used the descriptive curricula, and the study tool was prepared to reveal how much teachers of students with intellectual disabilities have educational efficiency; whereas the tool consisted of (four) main dimensions that include (57) paragraph, both researchers developed it and extracted the necessary evidences of validity and stability, where they are distributed on (82) teachers of students with intellectual disabilities; where expected value, standard deviation and analysis of variance were used. Results of the study indicated that the level of educational efficiency of teachers for all dimensions of the study, was above average, and it was found that there are differences in the experience and qualification variables, but sex and sector did not have any statistical indicating effect

The principle objectives of this research were to design and investigate a novel approach to generate an excellent quality effluent, while minimizing the size of the treatment unit and energy consumption. To achieve these objectives a submerged membrane electro-bioreactor (SMEBR) was designed and its performance was investigated. Membrane processes, electrokinetic phenomena, and biological processes take place simultaneously leading to the control of the problem of membrane fouling which has been considered one of the major challenges to widespread application of membrane bioreactor technology. This design is the first attempt to combine electrokinetic principles, using electro-coagulation (EC) processes and submerged membrane bioreactor in one reactor vessel. Both water quantity and quality were monitored through different experimental phases to verify the feasibility of the SMEBR system for wastewater treatment under various operating conditions. Firstly, a preliminary experimental phase was conducted on a small-scale electro-bioreactor (without the operation of the membrane module) to identify the best electrokinetic conditions in terms of the appropriate current density so as not to impede the biological treatment, and to determine the best exposure time of DC when it should be applied intermittently in the SMEBR system. DC field of 1 V/cm with an operational mode of 15 minutes ON/45 minutes OFF of DC power supply were found to be the adequate electrical conditions to operate the SMEBR system. Two different anode materials--iron and aluminum--were used to validate the SMEBR system for wastewater treatment. At the operating mode of 15 minutes ON/45 minutes OFF, the applied DC field in the SMEBR system enhanced the membrane filterability up to 16.6% and 21.3% using iron and aluminum electrodes respectively. However, the significant improvement in membrane filterability was 52.5% when using an aluminum anode at an operational mode of 15 minutes ON/105 minutes OFF, which indicated that the operational mode of DC supply is a key parameter in the operation of a SMEBR system. In terms of pollutants removal, the overall removal efficiency for COD was greater than 96% and greater than 98% for phosphorus. In conjunction, the removal of NH 3 -N was on average 70%. It should be emphasized that the phosphorous removal efficiency was higher than other studies on MBR without the use of electrokinetics. Furthermore, the effluent of the SMEBR treatment, using synthetic wastewater, had no color and no odor. The designed SMEBR system may find a direct application in the treatment of various wastewaters, including sewage, without an extensive pretreatment. Such a solution is required by several small municipalities, mining areas, agriculture facilities, military bases, and in cold regions. Finally, such a compact hybrid system can easily be adapted to a mobile uni

This study aim was to identify the level of the Angiotensin 2, Aldosterone hormones and some mineral salts (such as Sodium and potassium) among cross country race players before and after the effort. The researcher used the experimental method which is suited with the study nature. The sample contained 6 players of cross-country race team in the Directorate of Education for Al-Koura District, blood samples were drawn from the players before and after the effort that they excerted in the cross-country race players. After processing the data statistically, it was found that the physical exerted effort positively contributed to raising the level of Angiotensin 2 and Aldosterone hormones in the blood, in addition to the percentage of sodium which is affected too, it showed a clear decrease in its level after the effort. On the other hand, the level of potassium in the blood was not affected after the effort. The most important recommendations were that it should be emphasis on eating an appropriate number of mineral salts, including (sodium, potassium) before performing the physical exertion to avoid dehydration, muscle strain, and lack of focus during their physical exertion, and emphasizing the necessity of compensating the lost chemical minerals during the physical exertion, including the physical and physiological importance
