The purpose of this study was to examine the problem of the formation of a special mindset of the leader. The training of leaders (AUTHENTICS program, HAI.LT institute) is focused on the shaping of independent decision-making and freedom from stereotypes. In order to break out from automatic reactions of the brain and create novelty, we taught leaders to reflect on his/her emotional reactions that arise in situations of real-life – live living. AUTHENTIC program of consciousness leadership is a modular training program held by HAI.LT Institute since 2011. We conducted a psychological study of participants of the leadership training program (44 leaders, 2013 - 2015). Results of the study showed the changes in value orientations, in the behavioural priorities in the locus of control, also in the stereotypical beliefs, and motivation of decisions

The article is devoted to the problem of perception of television and media images and the youth creativity. The study conducted by G. Seputis on the applicants of art colleges is reviewed, the study’s sample consisted of 80 boys and girls at the age of 18. The aim of the study is to analyse what kind of images emerge creating the storyboard on neutral theme “silence”. We analysed popular media content during the years of kids’ formation and tried to benchmark obvious ones similarity with film — television images. It is concluded that the neutral theme “silence” leads to the use of negative images in the drawings. The method of comparative analysis of drawings and TV images was used. The article presents correlation between drawings and TV images and clearly confirms the youth's response to the neutral stimulus "silence" with the reproduction of negative media images. It is concluded that it is necessary to create educational programs for adolescents. The article discusses studies of psychologists lead to the conclusion that viewing TV does not always cause a positive effect. The authors emphasize a high degree of negative behavioural problems in Lithuanian youth is made apparent. The influence of information created with the help of media channels on the development of the creativity in children and adolescents is discussed. The authors invite to use educational methods aimed at developing creativity in youth.&nbsp

The emerging market of digital cephalographs and computerized cephalometry is overwhelming the need to examine the advantages and drawbacks of manual cephalometry, meanwhile, small offices continue to benefit from the economic efficacy and ease of use of analogue cephalograms. The use of modern cephalometric software requires import of digital cephalograms or digital capture of analogue data: scanning and digital photography. The validity of digital photographs of analogue headfilms rather than original headfilms in clinical practice has not been well established. Digital photography could be a fast and inexpensive method of digital capture of analogue cephalograms for use in digital cephalometry. AIM: The objective of this study was to determine the validity and reproducibility of measurements obtained from digital photographs of analogue headfilms in lateral cephalometry. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Analogue cephalometric radiographs were performed on 15 human dry skulls. Each of them was traced on acetate paper and photographed three times independently. Acetate tracings and digital photographs were digitized and analyzed in cephalometric software. Linear regression model, paired t-test intergroup analysis and coefficient of repeatability were used to assess validity and reproducibility for 63 angular, linear and derivative measurements. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: 54 out of 63 measurements were determined to have clinically acceptable reproducibility in the acetate tracing group as well as 46 out of 63 in the digital photography group. The worst reproducibility was determined for measurements dependent on landmarks of incisors and poorly defined outlines, majority of them being angular measurements. Validity was acceptable for all measurements, and although statistically significant differences between methods existed for as many as 15 parameters, they appeared to be clinically insignificant being smaller than 1 unit of measurement. Validity was acceptable for 59 of 63 measurements obtained from digital photographs, substantiating the use of digital photography for headfilm capture and computer-aided cephalometric analysis.publishersversionPeer reviewe

The purpose of this study was to examine the problem of development of creativity of contemporary painters in Lithuania using the Method of “Intuitive Aesthetics”. Development of painter’s personality is one of the most significant problems of contemporary art psychology. Psychologists do a lot of studies, publish articles on the problem of visual communication, impact of the psychological characteristics on art creation, but not enough attention is being paid to the development of methods that would help to develop creativity. Impact of the “Intuitive Aesthetics” method as a way to step out from the stereotypes, that hinder creativity, was researched in the project for Lithuanian painters. 40 well-known Lithuanian painters took part in two En Plein Airs held in Vilnius (Lithuania) in 2018. The “Intuitive Aesthetics” method included four interactions: 1) seminar on art psychology, mindfulness and embodyment; 2) practice for developing skills of reflection; 3) live painting; 4) independent painting. The article presents the results of the research showing how the “Intuitive Aesthetics” method helped to increase the creativity of painters. Method “Intuitive Aesthetics” can be considered as psychological authentication counselling of the painters that help them to step out from the stereotypes that hinder their creativity

Glioblastoma is the most common brain malignancy and is marked by an extremely poor prognosis, despite advances in surgical and clinical neuro-oncology. Glioblastomas are very heterogenic in their biological and morphological features and they are widely investigated. Existing in vivo glioblastoma models are based on the inoculation of glioma cells or cell lines into the rodent brain, the dog brain or the use of transgenic mice causing spontaneous tumors. These models suffer from the variable growth rate and poor penetration, and are limited by the difficulty of obtaining morphological data. In our research we suggested the model in which the native human glioblastoma was transplanted into the chicken embryo chorioallantoic membrane. The glioblastoma was transplanted into the embryo's chorioallantoic membrane on the seventh–ninth day, when it was fully developed and could ensure the nutrition of the tumor. Transplantation was successful if the glioblastoma survived at least for 24 hours together with the embryo. The chorioallantoic membrane after transplantation showed thickening. Between 48 and 120 hours after transplantation the thickness of the membrane changed from 2x to 5x. Starting from 144 hours after transplantation the thickness of the membrane diminished. The tumor transplanted into the chorioallantoic membrane ingrows in it in the zones where the epithelium of the membrane was mechanically removed. The tumor keeps its proliferative activity until 48 hours of transplantation, afterwards the proliferative activity is noticed in the chorioallantoic membrane until 120 hours of transplantation. This shows that the main processes take place in the zone where the tumor adheres to the chorioallantoic membrane. The human glioblastoma transplanted on chicken chorioallantoic membrane repeated all the essential stages of tumor growth, which are also typical of other mammal models. This model reflects the morphological and biological features of the glioblastoma, allows to evaluate the invasivity, the progress of the tumor, and to investigate new medicines

Global increases in both common and rare copy number load associated with autism.

Children with autism have an elevated frequency of large, rare copy number variants (CNVs). However, the global load of deletions or duplications, per se, and their size, location and relationship to clinical manifestations of autism have not been documented. We examined CNV data from 516 individuals with autism or typical development from the population-based Childhood Autism Risks from Genetics and Environment (CHARGE) study. We interrogated 120 regions flanked by segmental duplications (genomic hotspots) for events >50 kbp and the entire genomic backbone for variants >300 kbp using a custom targeted DNA microarray. This analysis was complemented by a separate study of five highly dynamic hotspots associated with autism or developmental delay syndromes, using a finely tiled array platform (>1 kbp) in 142 children matched for gender and ethnicity. In both studies, a significant increase in the number of base pairs of duplication, but not deletion, was associated with autism. Significantly elevated levels of CNV load remained after the removal of rare and likely pathogenic events. Further, the entire CNV load detected with the finely tiled array was contributed by common variants. The impact of this variation was assessed by examining the correlation of clinical outcomes with CNV load. The level of personal and social skills, measured by Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales, negatively correlated (Spearman's r = -0.13, P = 0.034) with the duplication CNV load for the affected children; the strongest association was found for communication (P = 0.048) and socialization (P = 0.022) scores. We propose that CNV load, predominantly increased genomic base pairs of duplication, predisposes to autism

Photodynamic Therapy and Central Serous Chorioretinopathy

Central serous chorioretinopathy is a common acquired maculopathy. Multiple studies showed that photodynamic therapy is useful treatment for acute and chronic central serous chorioretinopathy. The exact mechanism of photodynamic therapy in treating central serous chorioretinopathy is not clear, but it is thought to be caused by short-term choriocapillaris hypoperfusion and long-term choroidal vascular remodeling, leading to a reduction in choroidal congestion, vascular hyperpermeability and extravascular leakage. Furthermore, photodynamic therapy seems to be an effective means of improving or stabilizing visual acuity in patients with central serous chorioretinopathy
