Design and validation of a platform for electromagnetic fault injection

Security is acknowledged as one of the main challenges in the design and deployment of embedded circuits. Devices need to operate on-the-field safely and correctly, even when at physical reach of potential adversaries. One of the most powerful techniques to compromise the correct functioning of a device are fault injection attacks. They enable an active adversary to trigger errors on a circuit in order to bypass security features or to gain knowledge of security-sensitive information. There are several methods to induce such errors. In this work we focus on the injection of faults through the electromagnetic (EM) channel. In particular, we document our efforts towards building a suitable platform for EM pulse injection. We design a pulse injection circuit that can provide currents over 20 A to an EM injector in order to generate abrupt variations of the EM field on the vicinity of a circuit. We validate the suitability of our platform by applying a well-know attack on an embedded 8-bit microcontroller implementing the AES block cipher. In particular, we show how to extract the AES secret cryptographic keys stored in the device by careful injection of faults during the encryption operations and simple analysis of the erroneous outputs.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

The author refutes the interpretation of Matthew 1.18 found in the book, using both contextual and syntactic arguments. With respect to the theory of Ideas, the author disagrees with the book, pointing out that, from the dialogue Meno, where it appears, to its complete development in the Republic, no solution of continuity is found, but rather an unintemunped sequence. The author stresses the global meaning of the Book of Ecclesiastes, and, regarding the notion of God as creator (Republic 597bc, book X), he observes that it is not incongruous, but that this notion has nothing to do with God the creator as found in the Bible, and, as a consequence, they cannot be compared

The author has located two ideas in the poet Rainer Maria Rilke from his Duineser Elegien, which come up exactly with two other by Plato and one by the arcaic lyric poet Ibycus of Rhegium. The author has found an echo of the first theme in the Elegies de Bierville by the poet Carles Riba

Presentación

El dossier sobre "Psicología del tiempo aplicado a la actividad física y el deporte" tiene como objetivo presentar diferentes aportaciones que tienen como eje principal de su discurso el tema del ajuste temporal de los individuos. El tiempo es un tema de interés general, pero es especialmente relevante en todo el mundo de la actividad física y el deporte. Esta afirmación, con la que cualquier profesional estaría de acuerdo, se puede ver desarrollada en este dossier, donde se puede constatar la diversidad de estudios y de aspectos a tener en cuenta cuando se habla del tiempo desde el punto de vista psicológico. En cuanto a los artículos concretos, cabe destacar dos trabajos. El primero es el de Paul Fraisse y el segundo, el de Ramón Bayés. Ambos son, por decirlo de alguna manera, conferenciantes invitados a este monográfico. El artículo de Paul Fraisse (1990) es su discurso de aceptación del título de doctor Honoris Causa de la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, cuya transcripción ha sido autorizada por su viuda, Simone Fraisse, gracias a las gestiones hechas por el profesor Santiago Estaún . A propuesta del profesor Ramón Bayés, pensamos que comenzar el dossier con este discurso sería como un homenaje a la persona de Fraisse (1911-1996) Y a su aportación relevante a la psicología del tiempo. Este discurso plantea cuestiones muy generales y no directamente relacionadas con el ámbito de la actividad física y el deporte pero, en cambio, constituye una introducción de lujo -si se me permite decirlo así- a los temas que después se desarrollan
