Evaluation of The Living Escherichia coli-O78 Deleted aroA Vaccine Against Homologous and Heterologous E. coli Challenge in Broiler Chickens
To determine whether the immunization using commercially available living Escherichia coli-O78 aroA deleted vaccine (PoulvacÂŽE. coli) is protective against APEC challenges or not. Ninety chicks were divided into six groups (15 birds/each); two groups were vaccinated at day 1 by spray and drinking routes then challenged intratracheally with homologous E. coli O78 at day 21, the other two groups were similar to the previously mentioned groups but challenged with heterologous E. coli O1 in parallel with the four challenged-vaccinated groups there were two positive control (challenged-not vaccinated) groups; one challenged with O78 and the other one with O1 at day 21 using intratacheal route. The best obtained results were recorded to the vaccinated-challenged group with the homologous strain and vaccinated by spraying method which exhibited decreases in organ lesion scores in comparison to the other groups (non-vaccinated challenged chickens and groups of chickens either homologous challenged-vaccinated through drinking water or heterologous challenged-vaccinated groups). These findings suggest that vaccine is a suitable for minimizing lesion scores against homologous challenge using spraying method that could lead to minimizing the time for treatment and cases of condemnation in processing plants
Properties of Weighted Composition Operators on Some Weighted Holomorphic Function Classes in the Unit Ball
In this paper, we introduce NK-type spaces of holomorphic functions in the unit ball of C n by the help of a non-decreasing function K: (0,â) â [0,â). Several important properties of these spaces in the unit ball are provided. The results are applied to characterize boundedness and compactness of weighted composition operators Wu,Ď from NK (B) spaces into Beurling-type classes. We also find the essential norm estimates for Wu,Ď from NK(B) spaces into Beurling-type classes
Stable Isotope Composition of Cyclone Mekunu Rainfall, Southern Oman
Cyclone Mekunu hit the southern Arabian Peninsula in late May 2018 and brought rainfall amounts that accounted for up to 6 times the mean annual precipitation. Coming from the Arabian Sea, a quite underdocumented region with regard to cyclones, the storm eye crossed the Omani coast approximately 80 km east of the border to Yemen. Using automatic samplers, rainfall samples were collected during the event at three locations along a transect almost parallel to the storm track. The stable isotope analyses show a wide range of δ values, with minimum and maximum values of â17.01Ⱐδ18O and â1.77Ⱐδ18O and â122.2Ⱐδ2H and â1.6Ⱐδ2H. On average, rainfall becomes isotopically lighter with elevation, but rather irregularly. In view of high wind speeds probably precluding a gradual rainout of ascending air masses, a âpseudo elevation effectâ seems likely. Our measurements expand the known δ value range of local cyclones by about 6â° for δ18O and by nearly 50â° for δ2H. The isotopic composition of the annual Indian Summer Monsoon shows values of â0.93Ⱐδ18O to 2.21Ⱐδ18O and â2.1Ⱐδ2H to 23.7Ⱐδ2H. Thus, there is a clear difference in the dual isotope signatures of the two precipitation systems in the area. Our findings enable an assessment of the impact of cyclones on the hydro(geo)logical system. For the arid Najd area, we demonstrate that the isotopic signatures of groundwater samples fall between those of cyclone and (paleo)monsoon precipitation, suggesting that several rainfall types may have contributed to replenishment
Comparative study on the biological effect of Trigonella foenum graecum (Fenugreek) and Lupinus termis in diabetic albino rats
A number of herbs are traditionally used in Sudan to treat different diseases. In the present study the therapeutic effects of Trigonella foenum graecum (Fenugreek), and Lupinus termis aqueous extracts in glucose-induced diabetic albino rats and the subchronic toxicity of these plants was investigated. Forty-two albino rats of either sex (weighing 135-250 g and aged 60 days) were used. Animals were assigned to seven equal groups (N=6); intact control and six diabetic groups. Diabetes was induced by 5% glucose (2mg/kg b.w). Group (1) was administered with drinking water and assigned as control, groups 2, 3 and 4 were administered with Trigonella foenum aqueous extract (200, 400 and 800 mg/kg b.w, respectively) and groups 5, 6 and 7 were administered with Lupinus termis aqueous extract (200, 400 and 800 mg/kg b.w, respectively). Blood samples were obtained to assess blood glucose level, Îą-amylase, cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and triglycerides concentrations. In treated diabetic rats, blood glucose level markedly decreased to the normal range. Reduction in cholesterol, triglycerides, and HDL was also observed. Reduction of Îą-amylase concentration was shown with a low dose (200 mg/kg b.w.) of the extracts of both plants. The present studied plants clearly demonstrate the non-toxic nature and safety profile. The combined history human use of these plants and the data from the current study support the safe use of these plants. It can be concluded that Trigonella foenum graecum seed and Lupinus termis fruit aqueous extract have anti-hyperglycemic effect by affecting both blood glucose level and Îą-amylase. Trigonella foenum graecum has higher hypoglycemic than Lupinus termis
Design of a low-cost IoT-based biofloc water quality monitoring system
This paper proposes an IoT-based BFT water monitoring system that can measure water parameters such as pH, DO, TDS, and EC. The collected data is displayed remotely via the BLYNK cloud and Node-RED via an MQTT broker. Moreover, a mobile application monitors all water parameters in real-time, notifying users when a parameter exceeds the ideal value. This study suggests that the proposed system based on IoT is an excellent option for a cost-effective BFT system
