La espeleología en el centro escolar, una propuesta en el área de la Educación Física

Focused on the area of Physical Education, this article discusses a Teaching Unit proposal about caving to be carried out in the school; different examples of activities are commented and adapted from the natural environment to the educational context. With this proposal, students will have the opportunity to practice this sport in their own centre. Promotion of their personal development, involving physical, cognitive, behavioural aspects and awareness of environment’ respect and care values are also in mind. In this sense, the main purpose of this paper is to offer teachers a resource for doing caving within the different PE contents blocks, both for primary and secondary education.Enfocado al área de la Educación Física, este artículo muestra una propuesta de Unidad Didáctica centrada en el deporte de espeleología para llevarse a cabo en el propio centro escolar; en ella se exponen diferentes ejemplos de actividades, adaptadas del entorno natural al contexto educativo. Con esta propuesta, los alumnos tendrán la oportunidad de experimentar este deporte en su propio centro; se busca, además, fomentar su desarrollo personal en aspectos físicos, cognitivos y conductuales, lo que incluye el desarrollo de la toma de conciencia en torno a los valores de respeto y cuidado del medio ambiente. En este sentido, el objetivo de este trabajo es ofrecer a los docentes un recurso más para trabajar el deporte de la espeleología dentro de los diferentes bloques de contenido, tanto en la educación primaria como en la secundaria

Validation of the Academic Self-Concept Scale in the Spanish University Context

The aims of this study were: (i) to provide evidence of reliability and validity regarding the dimensionality of the Spanish version of two correlated subscales measuring Academic Self-Concept (ASC); (ii) to analyze factorial invariance according to sex and the educational level; (iii) to analyze a higher-order model from the two ASC subscales; and (iv) to study the predictive relationship of the ASC to academic engagement. An observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional study was designed in which 681 undergraduate university students (Mage = 24.55; SDage = 5.35) (58% girls) and students of the Master’s in Teacher Education participated. The scale’s psychometric properties were analyzed using different exploratory and confirmatory analyses demonstrating that this instrument with two correlated factors (academic confidence and academic effort) is valid, reliable, and invariant in terms of gender and academic level. Higher-order factors from the two correlated factors showed an excellent goodness-of-fit. A regression model with latent variables was conducted showing a higher and positive prediction of academic self-concept for the two factors of academic engagement (willingness to study and satisfaction with studies). The ASC has shown itself to be a valid and reliable instrument for use with Spanish university students and may be of special interest, both to teachers and to the students themselves, as it allows us to reflect on the importance of developing confidence and effort during the students’ academic lives.Research Plan and Transfer of the University of Almeria - Ref. Para ello, se han utilizando los estilos de enseñanza modular, asignación de tareas, grupos de nivel, programa individual interrelacionados dentro de la misma sesión y como parte de una unidad didáctica innovadora y globalizadora de contenidos. La Armada y la Iglesia en tiempos de Independencia: la Asociación de Jesús Sacramentado de Cartagena, 1808-1814

This paper analyzes the introduction of the Navy in the religious sphere of the city of Cartagena through its alliance with the Catholic Church. Due to the instability generated by the War of Independence, Navy officers were responsible for the defense of the city. They dominated the local Board, which also deal with religious issues. In this context, the Association of the Blessed Sacrament is based. Navy officers occupied leadership positions. In this way the Navy got to have their own space within the religious landscape of the city.El presente trabajo pretende analizar la introducción de la Armada en la esfera religiosa de la ciudad de Cartagena gracias a su alianza con la Iglesia católica. Debido a la situación de inestabilidad generada por la Guerra de la Independencia, los oficiales de la Marina quedaron encargados de la defensa de la ciudad y fueron mayoría dentro de la Junta local, lo que significó que habría de ocuparse también de asuntos religiosos. En este contexto se funda la Asociación de Jesús Sacramentado, cuyos cargos directivos serán ocupados preferentemente por oficiales de la Armada, la cual se reservaba, de este modo, un espacio propio dentro del panorama religioso de la ciudad

Adaptación de nuevos deportes de aventura a la educación física escolar: las vías ferratas

El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar una propuesta didáctica utilizando un contenido poco común en educación física como es la vía ferrata. La inclusión de un deporte de aventura en un programa de esta asignatura viene justificada, entre otros motivos, por el interés del alumnado para aprender nuevas actividades distintas a las tradicionales (fútbol, baloncesto, atletismo, etc.). Este deporte de aventura se caracteriza por seguir un itinerario tanto vertical como horizontal por una pared de roca utilizando equipamiento especial para ello. En este artículo se proponen ideas de cómo adaptar este deporte y sus elementos técnicos a la clase de educación física

Adaptació de nous esports d’aventura a l’educació física escolar: les vies ferrades

L’objectiu d’aquest treball és presentar una proposta didàctica utilitzant un contingut poc comú en educació física com és la via ferrada. La inclusió d’un esport d’aventura en un programa d’aquesta assignatura ve justificada, entre altres motius, per l’interès de l’alumnat per aprendre noves activitats diferents de les tradicionals (futbol, basquetbol, atletisme, etc.). Aquest esport d’aventura es caracteritza per seguir un itinerari tan vertical com horitzontal per una paret de roca utilitzant equipament especial. En aquest article es proposen idees sobre com adaptar aquest esport i els seus elements tècnics a la classe d’educació física

Data-driven mapping of hourly wind speed and its potential energy resources: A sensitivity analysis

Renewable energies play a significant role to mitigate the impacts of climate change. In countries like Spain, there is a significant potential of wind energy production which might be a key resource. In this research, we obtain wind power at 80 meters height and wind turbine energy (assuming a specific turbine). To achieve this objective we produce an optimal mapping of the hourly “instantaneous surface wind speed” (height 10 m), based on the available data. An extensive region (Granada Province, south Spain) is studied with a spatial resolution of 300 m, during a long period (1996-2016). It allows us to assess the intra- and inter-daily variability of wind energy resources. Several interpolation approaches are tested and a cross validation experiment is applied to identify the optimal approach. The obtained maps were compared with the results obtained in the stations with two common frequency distributions (Rayleigh and Weibull). This is the first time that this sensitivity integrated analysis is performed over an extensive region (12600 km2) for a long time period (20 years) at fine spatiotemporal resolution (300 m, hourly scale). The results can be very valuable for a preliminary analysis of potential optimal location of wind energies facilities

Differences in the Form of Presentation between Papillary Microcarcinomas and Papillary Carcinomas of Larger Size

Papillary thyroid carcinomas (PTCs) with a diameter ≤1 cm are referred to as papillary microcarcinomas (PTMCs). The prognostic factors for PTMCs have not been defined. Different clinical and histopathologic variables were studied in 152 PTCs, including 74 PTMCs and 78 PTCs of larger size. We found that PTMCs are associated with less multifocality (P = .046) and bilaterality (P = .003), fewer lymphadenectomies (P < .001), and a higher rate of incidental tumours (P < .001). Moreover, patients with a low aggressive profile were significantly older than the remaining patients (54 ± 13.7 years versus 45.8 ± 13.1 years; P = .001). In conclusion PTMCs show significant differences compared to PTCs of larger size in the form of presentation. Furthermore, it is possible that the classic risk factors, which are well validated in PTCs, such as age, must be cautiously interpreted in the current increasing subgroup of PTMCs

Propiedades psicométricas de la Escala de Evaluación de la Competencia Docente en Matemáticas. Modelo de predicción de satisfacción y rendimiento académico

The purposes of this study were: (i) to provide reliability and validity evidence regarding the Teaching Competence Questionnaire for the Math class in the Mexican context; (ii) to analyze factorial invariance according to sex in the Teaching Competence Questionnaire; (iii) to study the relationship among student perceptions of Math teaching competencies, satisfaction with school, and academic performance. A sample was selected from the total number of third-grade secondary school Mexican students. The prediction model showed that the students’ perception of their Math teachers’ competence does predict satisfaction with Math class, as well as their academic performance in MathLos objetivos de este estudio fueron: (i) proporcionar evidencia de confiabilidad y validez del Cuestionario de Competencias Docentes para la clase de Matemáticas en el contexto mexicano; (ii) analizar la invariancia factorial según sexo en el Cuestionario de Competencia Docente; (iii) estudiar la relación entre las percepciones de los estudiantes sobre las competencias de enseñanza de Matemáticas, la satisfacción con la escuela y el rendimiento académico.
