A Perry or Bachmann Nomination May Not Be Good for Democrats
Rick Perry has shaken up the Republican presidential primary because he seems to be taking the mantle of Tea Party favorite and far right darling away from Michele Bachmann. Before Perry joined the race, Bachmann seemed to be the most likely to be the last Tea Party candidate standing against Mitt Romney. Now Perry is more likely to be in that position. On the issues, Perry is not more moderate than Bachmann. Both are fundamentalist extremists with radical anti -government views who have evinced little understanding of a modern state or economy an d demonstrated little interest in or knowledge of foreign affairs other than their belief in a strong America. Perry seems to have eclipsed Bachmann's popularity because he is less prone to gaffes than Bachmann, is slightly better at keeping his mouth shut sometimes and is enjoying something of a bump in the polls because he is the new candidate about whom voters may not yet know very much
The Reflected (Un)Real: Space in Ingeborg Bachmann’s “Probleme Probleme”
In her 1977 short story “Probleme Probleme,” Ingeborg Bachmann plays with space and representations of reality in a way that reflects the disillusionment of Austria’s post-war generation. Beatrix’s two desires in the short story – to look at herself in the mirror and to sleep – both suggest a resistance to living in the real world and a dependence on the illusions of her dreams, mirrors, and the beauty salon. Although the older patrons of the salon and Beatrix try to hide from the responsibility for the past and present, the mirrors and the salon prove to be temporary illusions that are unsustainable. Sleep and mirrors become ways to avoid reality rather than coming to terms with it, which, for Bachmann, is ultimately unproductive and naïve
Return to 0 : A Lacanian Reading of Ingeborg Bachmann\u27s Undine Goes
This essay approaches Ingeborg Bachmann\u27s Undine Goes from a Lacanian perspective. The object of the study is three-fold: first, to demonstrate Bachmann\u27s deconstruction of the ideal ego through the water-sprite Undine\u27s criticism of the human Hans. Second, to transcend the limitations of dualistic interpretations (as noted by some feminist critics), by introducing the triple Lacanian registers—the imaginary, the symbolic, and the real—into this particular reading. Finally, to establish Bachmann\u27s monologic text as a discourse of the real and Undine as the voice of the death instinct
Bachmann Moves Up, But Romney Still Leads In 2012 NH Presidential Primary, Voters Undecided 7/05/2011
Mitt Romney continues to lead a congested field for the 2012 Republican nomination for President among New Hampshire Republicans. Michele Bachmann has moved into a distant second place. However, the great majority of voters remain undecided about who they will eventually support. Election: NH Primary 201
Study of ion feedback in multi-GEM structures
We study the feedback of positive ions in triple and quadruple Gas Electron
Multiplier (GEM) detectors. The effects of GEM hole diameter, detector gain,
applied voltages, number of GEMs and other parameters on ion feedback are
investigated in detail. In particular, it was found that the ion feedback is
independent of the gas mixture and the pressure. In the optimized multi-GEM
structure, the ion feedback current can be suppressed down to 0.5% of the anode
current, at a drift field of 0.1 kV/cm and gain of 10^4. A simple model of ion
feedback in multi-GEM structures is suggested. The results obtained are
relevant to the performance of time projection chambers and gas
photomultipliers.Comment: 9 pages, 11 figures. Submitted to Nucl. Instr. and Meth.
Ingeborg Bachmann
Whatever Is Received : Evaluating Collateral, Its Disposition, and Proceeds under Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code—Rainier National Bank v. Bachmann, 111 Wash. 2d 298, 757 P.2d 979 (1988)
In Rainier National Bank v. Bachmann, the Washington Supreme Court held that payments made to a debtor under the federal Dairy Termination Program were proceeds of the collateral at issue in the case under the Uniform Commercial Code ( UCC ). The author examines the relationship between proceeds and the collateral described by parties to a security agreement, concludes that the court improperly applied the UCC in Bachmann, and recommends an approach to evaluating proceed

Alterity a category of practice and analysis : preliminary remarks
This article provides introductory remarks on the concept of alterity, which could stimulate the discussion on newsreels/media and their representation of the Other. Starting from the observation that alterity has often been overshadowed by an overestimation of identity, the article differentiates between various fields of alterity: amongst them, real alterity in societal practice, representational alterity in media contexts, and attitudes of othering in movements between alterity or alienness. It critically brings to the fore some underlying frameworks and unspoken assumptions. Finally, the article asks whether the positioning of alterity in 20th-century newsreels has provided first approaches for overcoming its binary corset in the direction of a global circulation of images. Can this perhaps be seen as a step towards turning our attention to a revaluation and new recognition of the Other
Studies on the chorionic structure of the eggs of <i>Corixoidea</i> (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) with scanning electron microscopy
The chorionic structure of the eggs of sixteen species of Corixoidea (Ectemnostega (Ectemnostega) quadrata (Signoret), E. (Ectemnostegella) quechua (Bachmann), Trichocorixa mendozana Jaczewski, Centrocorisa kollari (Fieber), Heterocorixa brasiliensis Hungerford, Sigara (Aphelosigara) tucma Bachmann, S. (Tropocorixa) denseconscripta (Breddin), S. (T.) platensis Bachmann, S. (T.) rubyae (Hungerford), S. (T.) santiagiensis (Hungerford), S. (T.) schadei (Hungerford), S. (T.) yala Bachmann, Tenagobia (Incertagobia) incerta Lundblad, T. (Fuscagobia) fuscata (Stål), T. (Schadeogobia) schadei Lundblad, and T. (Tenagobia) pulchra Hungerford) is described for the first time using scanning electron microscopy. In addition, the eggs of some of these species are described based on color and morphometry. The sculpturing of the chorion and the structure of the micropylar area here in studied using scanning electron microscopy together with the length of the stalk distinguish the eggs of the genera (except Sigara, genus without a uniform pattern on the sculpturing of the chorion) and subgenera (including Aphelosigara and Tropocorixa) of Corixoidea present in Argentina. The above mentioned characters, together with the egg length, proved to be useful for the identification of the Argentinian species. An identification key to the eggs of Argentinian species of Corixoidea based on the material herein studied, and additional data present in the literature, is provided.Facultad de Ciencias Naturales y Muse
