Distributed-memory parallelization of an explicit time-domain volume integral equation solver on Blue Gene/P

    Get PDF
Two distributed-memory schemes for efficiently parallelizing the explicit marching-on in-time based solution of the time domain volume integral equation on the IBM Blue Gene/P platform are presented. In the first scheme, each processor stores the time history of all source fields and only the computationally dominant step of the tested field computations is distributed among processors. This scheme requires all-to-all global communications to update the time history of the source fields from the tested fields. In the second scheme, the source fields as well as all steps of the tested field computations are distributed among processors. This scheme requires sequential global communications to update the time history of the distributed source fields from the tested fields. Numerical results demonstrate that both schemes scale well on the IBM Blue Gene/P platform and the memory efficient second scheme allows for the characterization of transient wave interactions on composite structures discretized using three million spatial elements without an acceleration algorithm

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of a 24-week multifaceted sport training program on some physical and performance characteristics of 5-9 year old children. There are many researches about the necessities for children to start physical activity at an early age. According to the characteristics of different physical activities to be performed, children can endow with different developments. Multifaceted development in the motor properties of an unbranched individual will also benefit him/her in the branching phase. A branch that will be applied to children will develop the characteristics of that branch in the child. This study aims to determine the effects of the implementation of a training program consisting of the basic characteristics of different branches on the physical characteristics of children.A group of children with a mean age of 6.4 (SD 1.34) (n = 98) residing in Ankara participated in the study. A training program including basic techniques of many sports branches was applied to children in the form of 2 lesson hours per day for 2 days in each week. Lessons are scheduled for 45 minutes. During the 24-week training period, children were tested and measured three times; at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of the study. All physical characteristics of the children within the scope of the study has improved, and the differences in the test of vertical jump, throwing medicine ball, right foot balance posture, left hand grip force, shuttle, horizontal jump and 10x5m running were found to be statistically significant (p<0.05)

Fairy tales are used intensively by Turkish teachers in Turkish lessons. Elements in tales need to be examined in many respects such as their suitability for cultural transmission, psychological benefits, and harms, correct and effective use of language and so on. The opinions of the Turkish teachers in the field are very important for this subject which needs to be examined in depth. This research’s model is descriptive, semi-structured interview is a data collection tool for this research.Participants except one seem to have found tales interesting for all students. It is seen that teachers use talents primarily for semantic knowledge and moral values, and then for language skills achievements. Teachers have answers that they use tales more for values such as goodness, honesty, respect, and love. There may be an interpretation that teachers often do not encounter situations where students generally look askance at tales. It is seen that teachers are leading the opinion that there is not a fairy tale that should not be read. This answer is followed by the response that tales with negative contents should not be read. Ranking of tales of most positive reactions given by students can be done respectively as: all tales which have a happy ending, Keloğlan tales, Snow white tales, Aesop's Fables… According to teachers, tales which should be absolutely read by students are listed as follows: Keloğlan, Grimm Brothers, One Thousand and One Nights,.

Solitary wave solutions are investigated for the two-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation with mean term (NLSM) and additional Parity-Time (PT) Symmetric periodic lattices. The numerical existence of solitons are demonstrated for real and PT-Symmetric periodic lattices. The linear and nonlinear evolution of these solitons are investigated by using direct simulations of the NLSM system. It is demonstrated that solitons in the periodic lattice can be nonlinearly stable in the absence of the PT-Symmetry. Also, it is noticed that strengthened gain-loss component (imaginary part of the potential) in the PT-Symmetric lattices decreases blow-up distance of the solitons

    Get PDF
Good education is only possible with highly qualified teachers. Being aware of these competences or deficiencies is also important for teachers’ professional development. In the last 15 years, refugee migration from the Middle East and Central Asia to Europe has challenged Turkey with the problem of refugee education. The aim of this research is to develop and assess a measurement tool to gauge teachers’ self-efficacy perceptions towards refugee students. The validity and reliability studies of the scale with 14 items and 4 sub-factors were carried out by exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis from the pool of 45 items created as a result of literature review. A second factor analysis was conducted to see whether the data fit into the predetermined factors. In the exploratory factor analysis phase of the study, 210 primary school teachers participated. The sampling group of the confirmatory factor analysis consisted of 200 teachers. It was concluded that the developed scale is a valid and reliable scale and can be used in the field of refugee education

Prostatic melanosis is a very rare, benign lesion characterized by the presence of melanin in the epithelium of the prostate gland and stromal dendritic cells, requiring no additional treatment. It constitutes the melanocytic lesions of the prostate together with blue nevus and malignant melanoma. We present a case with prostatic melanosis because it is rarely seen and its distinction from malignant melanoma is clinicopathologically very important

Explicit Solution of the Time Domain Volume Integral Equation Using a Stable Predictor-Corrector Scheme

    Get PDF
An explicit marching-on-in-time (MOT) scheme for solving the time domain volume integral equation is presented. The proposed method achieves its stability by employing, at each time step, a corrector scheme, which updates/corrects fields computed by the explicit predictor scheme. The proposedmethod is computationally more efficient when compared to the existing filtering techniques used for the stabilization of explicit MOT schemes. Numerical results presented in this paper demonstrate that the proposed method maintains its stability even when applied to the analysis of electromagnetic wave interactions with electrically large structures meshed using approximately half a million discretization elements
