The article is devoted to highlighting the essence of stimulating the enterprise as an important component for ensuring its effective functioning, and also analyzed the main tasks and the main advantages and disadvantages of those used in the sales promotion system. The article deals with the content of sales’ promotion in the complex of product promotion, its goals and tasks. It is found that sales promotion is a system of short-term incentives on a temporary or territorial basis, affects three market part icipants (consumers, resellers, sales personnel), which is designed to stimulate immediate purchase and accelerated sales. The characteristic of modern means and methods of sales’ promotion is given. The classification of sales promotion in the work on occurrence and influence on buyers is described. The theoretical positions of sales’ promotion were furt her developed, the main directions of sales promotion were established

Eigen-AD: Algorithmic Differentiation of the Eigen Library

In this work we present useful techniques and possible enhancements when applying an Algorithmic Differentiation (AD) tool to the linear algebra library Eigen using our in-house AD by overloading (AD-O) tool dco/c++ as a case study. After outlining performance and feasibility issues when calculating derivatives for the official Eigen release, we propose Eigen-AD, which enables different optimization options for an AD-O tool by providing add-on modules for Eigen. The range of features includes a better handling of expression templates for general performance improvements, as well as implementations of symbolically derived expressions for calculating derivatives of certain core operations. The software design allows an AD-O tool to provide specializations to automatically include symbolic operations and thereby keep the look and feel of plain AD by overloading. As a showcase, dco/c++ is provided with such a module and its significant performance improvements are validated by benchmarks.Comment: Updated with accepted version for ICCS 2020 conference proceedings. Robust aircraft conceptual design using automatic differentiation in Matlab

    No full text
The need for robust optimisation in aircraft conceptual design, for which the design parameters are assumed stochastic, is introduced. We highlight two approaches, first-order method of moments and Sigma-Point reduced quadrature, to estimate the mean and variance of the design’s outputs. The method of moments requires the design model’s differentiation and here, since the model is implemented in Matlab, is performed using the AD tool MAD. Gradient-based constrained optimisation of the stochastic model is shown to be more efficient using AD-obtained gradients than finite-differencing. A post-optimality analysis, performed using ADenabled third-order method of moments and Monte-Carlo analysis, confirms the attractiveness of the Sigma-Point technique for uncertainty propagation

Out-of-core solution of eigenproblems for macromolecular simulations

We consider the solution of large-scale eigenvalue problems that appear in the motion simulation of complex macromolecules on desktop platforms. To tackle the dimension of the matrices that are involved in these problems, we formulate out-of-core (OOC) variants of the two selected eigensolvers, that basically decouple the performance of the solver from the storage capacity. Furthermore, we contend with the high computational complexity of the solvers by off-loading the arithmetically-intensive parts of the algorithms to a hardware graphics accelerator

Domain-wall motion and interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions in Pt/Co/Ir(tIr)/Ta multilayers

The interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI) is important for chiral domain walls (DWs) and for stabilizing magnetic skyrmions. We study the effects of introducing increasing thicknesses of Ir, from zero to 2 nm, into a Pt/Co/Ta multilayer between the Co and Ta layers. There is a marked increase in magnetic moment, due to the suppression of the dead layer at the interface with Ta, but the perpendicular anisotropy is hardly affected. All samples show a universal scaling of the field-driven DW velocity across the creep and depinning regimes. Asymmetric bubble expansion shows that DWs in all of the samples have the left-handed Néel form. The value of in-plane magnetic field at which the creep velocity shows a minimum drops markedly on the introduction of Ir, as does the frequency shift of the Stokes and anti-Stokes peaks in Brillouin light scattering (BLS) measurements. Despite this qualitative similarity, there are quantitative differences in the DMI strength given by the two measurements, with BLS often returning higher values. Many features in bubble expansion velocity curves do not fit simple models commonly used, namely a lack of symmetry about the velocity minimum and no difference in velocities at high in-plane fields. These features are explained by the use of a new model in which the depinning field is allowed to vary with in-plane field in a way determined from micromagnetic simulations. This theory shows that the velocity minimum underestimates the DMI field, consistent with BLS giving higher values. Our results suggest that the DMI at an Ir/Co interface has the same sign as the DMI at a Pt/Co interface

First Steps towards Underdominant Genetic Transformation of Insect Populations

The idea of introducing genetic modifications into wild populations of insects to stop them from spreading diseases is more than 40 years old. Synthetic disease refractory genes have been successfully generated for mosquito vectors of dengue fever and human malaria. Equally important is the development of population transformation systems to drive and maintain disease refractory genes at high frequency in populations. We demonstrate an underdominant population transformation system in Drosophila melanogaster that has the property of being both spatially self-limiting and reversible to the original genetic state. Both population transformation and its reversal can be largely achieved within as few as 5 generations. The described genetic construct {Ud} is composed of two genes; (1) a UAS-RpL14.dsRNA targeting RNAi to a haploinsufficient gene RpL14 and (2) an RNAi insensitive RpL14 rescue. In this proof-of-principle system the UAS-RpL14.dsRNA knock-down gene is placed under the control of an Actin5c-GAL4 driver located on a different chromosome to the {Ud} insert. This configuration would not be effective in wild populations without incorporating the Actin5c-GAL4 driver as part of the {Ud} construct (or replacing the UAS promoter with an appropriate direct promoter). It is however anticipated that the approach that underlies this underdominant system could potentially be applied to a number of species. Figure
