Professor Benito Duran begins his study by pointing out the crisis of the English education which was originated by an incorrect amplification of the complete educational work. In order to study the London County Plan to a great extent in its legal and structural aspects the author carefully examines the principal sections of the English Law of Education of 1944 to present both the previous problems and the very development of the «London School Plan, 1947». He points out some groups of problems to end by enhancing the psycho-pedagogical neutrality of the plan, its social trend and its evident merits and indecisions
Loop Quantum Gravity and the The Planck Regime of Cosmology
The very early universe provides the best arena we currently have to test
quantum gravity theories. The success of the inflationary paradigm in
accounting for the observed inhomogeneities in the cosmic microwave background
already illustrates this point to a certain extent because the paradigm is
based on quantum field theory on the curved cosmological space-times. However,
this analysis excludes the Planck era because the background space-time
satisfies Einstein's equations all the way back to the big bang singularity.
Using techniques from loop quantum gravity, the paradigm has now been extended
to a self-consistent theory from the Planck regime to the onset of inflation,
covering some 11 orders of magnitude in curvature. In addition, for a narrow
window of initial conditions, there are departures from the standard paradigm,
with novel effects, such as a modification of the consistency relation
involving the scalar and tensor power spectra and a new source for
non-Gaussianities. Thus, the genesis of the large scale structure of the
universe can be traced back to quantum gravity fluctuations \emph{in the Planck
regime}. This report provides a bird's eye view of these developments for the

Deteksi Jumlah Bakteri Total Dan Coliform Pada Sludge Dari Proses Pembentukan Biogas Campuran Feses Sapi Potong Dan Feses Kuda
This study aims to determine the amount of total and coliform bacteria in sludge from the process of forming a mixture of biogas feces of beef cattle and horse feces. The method used in this study is the experimental method in the laboratory using a completely randomized design with 3 treatments, ie P1 = C / N ratio of 25, P2 = C / N ratio of 30 and P3 = C / N ratio of 35 and replications 6 times. To determine the effect of treatments, data were analyzed with ANOVA and Duncan test. The results showed that the mixture of feces of beef cattle and horse feces with various C / N ratio had significant ffect on total bacteria and coliform in sludge. Treatment P3 (C / N ratio 35) to produce the total number of bacteria (4.95 x 107 cfu / g) and coliform (6.33 x 106 cfu / g) the lowest
Resolving the age bimodality of galaxy stellar populations on kpc scales
Galaxies in the local Universe are known to follow bimodal distributions in
the global stellar populations properties. We analyze the distribution of the
local average stellar-population ages of 654,053 sub-galactic regions resolved
on ~1-kpc scales in a volume-corrected sample of 394 galaxies, drawn from the
CALIFA-DR3 integral-field-spectroscopy survey and complemented by SDSS imaging.
We find a bimodal local-age distribution, with an old and a young peak
primarily due to regions in early-type galaxies and star-forming regions of
spirals, respectively. Within spiral galaxies, the older ages of bulges and
inter-arm regions relative to spiral arms support an internal age bimodality.
Although regions of higher stellar-mass surface-density, mu*, are typically
older, mu* alone does not determine the stellar population age and a bimodal
distribution is found at any fixed mu*. We identify an "old ridge" of regions
of age ~9 Gyr, independent of mu*, and a "young sequence" of regions with age
increasing with mu* from 1-1.5 Gyr to 4-5 Gyr. We interpret the former as
regions containing only old stars, and the latter as regions where the relative
contamination of old stellar populations by young stars decreases as mu*
increases. The reason why this bimodal age distribution is not inconsistent
with the unimodal shape of the cosmic-averaged star-formation history is that
i) the dominating contribution by young stars biases the age low with respect
to the average epoch of star formation, and ii) the use of a single average age
per region is unable to represent the full time-extent of the star-formation

Indisulam targets RNA splicing and metabolism to serve as a therapeutic strategy for high-risk neuroblastoma
Neuroblastoma is the most common paediatric solid tumour and prognosis remains poor for high-risk cases despite the use of multimodal treatment. Analysis of public drug sensitivity data showed neuroblastoma lines to be sensitive to indisulam, a molecular glue that selectively targets RNA splicing factor RBM39 for proteosomal degradation via DCAF15-E3-ubiquitin ligase. In neuroblastoma models, indisulam induces rapid loss of RBM39, accumulation of splicing errors and growth inhibition in a DCAF15-dependent manner. Integrative analysis of RNAseq and proteomics data highlight a distinct disruption to cell cycle and metabolism. Metabolic profiling demonstrates metabolome perturbations and mitochondrial dysfunction resulting from indisulam. Complete tumour regression without relapse was observed in both xenograft and the Th-MYCN transgenic model of neuroblastoma after indisulam treatment, with RBM39 loss, RNA splicing and metabolic changes confirmed in vivo. Our data show that dual-targeting of metabolism and RNA splicing with anticancer indisulam is a promising therapeutic approach for high-risk neuroblastoma
Linking forest cover, soil erosion and mire hydrology to late-Holocene human activity and climate in NW Spain

Because of the wide range of factors involved, understanding these complex links requires long-term multi-proxy approaches and research on the best proxies to focus. A peat core from NW Spain (Cruz do Bocelo mire), spanning the last ~3000 years, has been studied at high resolution by physical (density and loss on ignition (LOI)), geochemical (elemental composition) and palynological (pollen and non-pollen palynomorphs) analyses. Proxies related to mineral matter fluxes from the catchment (lithogenic tracers, Glomus and Entorrhiza), rainfall (Bromine), mire hydrology (HdV-18), human pressure (Cerealia-type, nitrophilous taxa and coprophilous fungi) and forest cover (mesophilous tree taxa) were the most useful to reconstruct the evolution of the mire and its catchment. Forest clearance for farming was one of the main drivers of environmental change from at least the local Iron Age (~2685 cal. yr BP) onwards. The most intense phase of deforestation occurred during Roman and Germanic times and the late Middle Ages. During these phases, the entire catchment was affected, resulting in enhanced soil erosion and severe hydrological modifications of the mire. Climate, especially rainfall, may have also accelerated these processes during wetter periods. However, it is noteworthy that the hydrology of the mire seems to have been insensitive to rainfall variations when mesophilous forest dominated. Abrupt changes were only detected once intense forest clearance commenced during the Iron Age/Roman transition (~2190 cal. yr BP) phase, which represented a tipping point in catchment's ability to buffer impacts. The dependence of oxygen and nitrogen abundances on stellar mass from the CALIFA survey
We analysed the optical spectra of HII regions extracted from a sample of 350
galaxies of the CALIFA survey. We calculated total O/H abundances and, for the
first time, N/O ratios using the semi-empirical routine HII-CHI-mistry, which,
according to P\'erez-Montero (2014), is consistent with the direct method and
reduces the uncertainty in the O/H derivation using [NII] lines owing to the
dispersion in the O/H-N/O relation. Then we performed linear fittings to the
abundances as a function of the de-projected galactocentric distances. The
analysis of the radial distribution both for O/H and N/O in the non-interacting
galaxies reveals that both average slopes are negative, but a non-negligible
fraction of objects have a flat or even a positive gradient (at least 10\% for
O/H and 4\% for N/O). The slopes normalised to the effective radius appear to
have a slight dependence on the total stellar mass and the morphological type,
as late low-mass objects tend to have flatter slopes. No clear relation is
found, however, to explain the presence of inverted gradients in this sample,
and there is no dependence between the average slopes and the presence of a
bar. The relation between the resulting O/H and N/O linear fittings at the
effective radius is much tighter (correlation coefficient = 0.80) than
between O/H and N/O slopes ( = 0.39) or for O/H and N/O in the
individual \hii\ regions ( = 0.37). These O/H and N/O values at the
effective radius also correlate very tightly (less than 0.03 dex of dispersion)
with total luminosity and stellar mass. The relation with other integrated
properties, such as star formation rate, colour, or morphology, can be

Transverse-target-spin asymmetry in exclusive -meson electroproduction
Hard exclusive electroproduction of mesons is studied with the
HERMES spectrometer at the DESY laboratory by scattering 27.6 GeV positron and
electron beams off a transversely polarized hydrogen target. The amplitudes of
five azimuthal modulations of the single-spin asymmetry of the cross section
with respect to the transverse proton polarization are measured. They are
determined in the entire kinematic region as well as for two bins in photon
virtuality and momentum transfer to the nucleon. Also, a separation of
asymmetry amplitudes into longitudinal and transverse components is done. These
results are compared to a phenomenological model that includes the pion pole
contribution. Within this model, the data favor a positive
