Q-stars and charged q-stars
We present the formalism of q-stars with local or global U(1) symmetry. The
equations we formulate are solved numerically and provide the main features of
the soliton star. We study its behavior when the symmetry is local in contrast
to the global case. A general result is that the soliton remains stable and
does not decay into free particles and the electrostatic repulsion preserves it
from gravitational collapse. We also investigate the case of a q-star with
non-minimal energy-momentum tensor and find that the soliton is stable even in
some cases of collapse when the coupling to gravity is absent.Comment: Latex, 19pg, 12 figures. Accepted in Phys. Rev.
Improved SOT (Hinode mission) high resolution solar imaging observations
We consider the best today available observations of the Sun free of
turbulent Earth atmospheric effects, taken with the Solar Optical Telescope
(SOT) onboard the Hinode spacecraft. Both the instrumental smearing and the
observed stray light are analyzed in order to improve the resolution. The Point
Spread Function (PSF) corresponding to the blue continuum Broadband Filter
Imager (BFI) near 450 nm is deduced by analyzing i/ the limb of the Sun and ii/
images taken during the transit of the planet Venus in 2012. A combination of
Gaussian and Lorentzian functions is selected to construct a PSF in order to
remove both smearing due to the instrumental diffraction effects (PSF core) and
the large-angle stray light due to the spiders and central obscuration (wings
of the PSF) that are responsible for the parasitic stray light. A
Max-likelihood deconvolution procedure based on an optimum number of iterations
is discussed. It is applied to several solar field images, including the
granulation near the limb. The normal non-magnetic granulation is compared to
the abnormal granulation which we call magnetic. A new feature appearing for
the first time at the extreme- limb of the disk (the last 100 km) is discussed
in the context of the definition of the solar edge and of the solar diameter. A
single sunspot is considered in order to illustrate how effectively the
restoration works on the sunspot core. A set of 125 consecutive deconvolved
images is assembled in a 45 min long movie illustrating the complexity of the

Lepton Flavor Violating Process in Bi-maximal texture of Neutrino Mixings
We investigate the lepton flavor violation in the framework of the MSSM with
right-handed neutrinos taking the large mixing angle MSW solution in the
quasi-degenerate and the inverse-hierarchical neutrino masses. We predict the
branching ratio of and processes
assuming the degenerate right-handed Majorana neutrino masses. We find that the
branching ratio in the quasi-degenerate neutrino mass spectrum is 100 times
smaller than the ones in the inverse-hierarchical and the hierarchical neutrino
spectra. We emphasize that the magnitude of is one of important
ingredients to predict BR(). The effect of the deviation
from the complete-degenerate right-handed Majorana neutrino masses are also
estimated. Furtheremore, we examine the S_{3\sL}\times S_{3\sR} model, which
gives the quasi-degenerate neutrino masses, and the Shafi-Tavartkiladze model,
which gives the inverse-hierarchical neutrino masses. Both predicted branching

Randomized controlled trial of an intervention to maintain suppression of HIV viremia after prison release: The impact trial
Background: HIV-infected individuals transitioning from incarceration to the community are at risk for loss of viral suppression. We compared the effects of imPACT, a multidimensional intervention to promote care engagement after release, to standard care on sustaining viral suppression after community re-entry. Methods: This trial randomized 405 HIV-infected inmates being released from prisons in Texas and North Carolina with HIV-1 RNA levels 0.99). Conclusions: Higher rates of HIV suppression and medical care engagement than expected based on previous literature were observed among HIV-infected patients with suppressed viremia released from prison. Randomization to a comprehensive intervention to motivate and facilitate HIV care access after prison release did not prevent loss of viral suppression. A better understanding of the factors influencing prison releasees' linkage to community care, medication adherence, and maintenance of viral suppression is needed to inform policy and other strategic approaches to HIV prevention and treatment
The Opportunity Cost of the Conservation Reserve Program: A Kansas Land Example
The effects of the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) on farmland values is investigated using a set of parcel-level data for land sales in Kansas over the period 1998 to 2014. The sales data are used to estimate a hedonic model of land values that allows for the opportunity cost of CRP enrollment to vary across space and time. Factors impacting the opportunity costs include the relative productivity of land, returns to farming, and the time remaining under the CRP contracts. We find that the discount associated with having land under CRP contract averages 7%

New insights into the genetic etiology of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias
Characterization of the genetic landscape of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related dementias (ADD) provides a unique opportunity for a better understanding of the associated pathophysiological processes. We performed a two-stage genome-wide association study totaling 111,326 clinically diagnosed/'proxy' AD cases and 677,663 controls. We found 75 risk loci, of which 42 were new at the time of analysis. Pathway enrichment analyses confirmed the involvement of amyloid/tau pathways and highlighted microglia implication. Gene prioritization in the new loci identified 31 genes that were suggestive of new genetically associated processes, including the tumor necrosis factor alpha pathway through the linear ubiquitin chain assembly complex. We also built a new genetic risk score associated with the risk of future AD/dementia or progression from mild cognitive impairment to AD/dementia. The improvement in prediction led to a 1.6- to 1.9-fold increase in AD risk from the lowest to the highest decile, in addition to effects of age and the APOE ε4 allele
