Shape-based feature extraction in content-based image retrieval is an important research area at present. An algorithm is presented, based on shape features, to enhance the set of features useful in a leaf identification system

Effect of errors on miss distance of missile trackers in active decoy environment

    Get PDF
Lock on missiles are a major threat to vital installations. Soft kill solutions against lock on incoming missiles such as deployment of active decoys can be very effective to war of threat. The weaknesses in onboard missile tracking radars can be gainfully used to increase the miss distance between target and the missile. The effect of geometrical positioning errors of two horn monopulse missile mounted radars has been analyzed in this paper. As so gain differences between the two horns can cause variations in the miss distance. This aspect has also been studied. The variation of miss distance with jammer power to signal ratio (J/S) is also presented. It can be seen that the miss distance is always midway between the target and the decoy. Random angular positioning errors of the missile radar have been analyzed and it is found that the miss distance increases with increase of angular errors

Study of seasonal incidence and impact of abiotic factors on sucking pests of brinjal

The present investigation was undertaken to find the impact of abiotic factors on seasonal incidence and sucking pest complex of brinjal under field conditions during kharif 2015-2016. The incidence of leaf hopper population (2.80 Lh/L i.e., Leaf hopper mean population/leaf) was noticed during 34th standard week and reached peak by 40th standard week (5.00 Lh/L) (October) whereas the aphid population was noticed during the 34th standard week (3.00 Lh/L) and peak population observed during the 40th standard week (4.60 Lh/L) (October). Correlation studies showed that among the various abiotic factors, maximum temperature showed highly significant positive correlation (r= 0.77) and sunshine hours (r = 0.61) showed significant positive correlation with the leaf hopper population. In case of aphid population, maximum temperature showed significant positive correlation (r = 0.70), rainfall showed highly significant negative correlation (r = -0.74) and relative humidity evening (r = -0.59) showed significant negative correlation with aphid population. The present investigations will give a brief idea about how the abiotic factors influencing the sucking pests of brinjal

Role of Serum creatinine in forecasting the outcome after cardiac surgery beyond acute kidney injury-A Cross sectional Study

    Get PDF
Objectives: Acute kidney damage (Acute kidney injury [AKI]) is defined by elevations in serum creatinine levels that occur after surgery. In cardiac surgery, creatinine is a critical determinant. This study highlights the detection of serum creatinine as an early diagnostic and predictive marker of AKI following coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and to estimate the serum creatinine concentrations before and at 24 and 48 h after CABG. Methods: It is a single center, Cross-sectional study. Patients from Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgery undergoing CABG in Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute were included in the study. A total of 80 cases were included in the study. The method used for measurement of serum creatinine is by modification of kinetic Jaffe reaction. Data were analyzed using Stata/SE version 16.0 and represented in terms of means, standard deviation at 95% confidence level and t’ test was performed as statistical analysis and p<0.05 indicates significance. Sigma plot software version 10.0 was used to draw the standard error mean graphs. Results: The serum creatinine values at 24 h after the surgery was statistically higher than the preoperative values at 5% significance level (p=0.04). The serum creatinine values 48 h after the surgery was also statistically higher than the preoperative values at 1% significance level (p=0.001). The serum creatinine values 48 h after surgery are highly significant (p=0.001) when compared to the serum creatinine values 24 h after surgery. Conclusion: Before an increase in serum creatinine level is detected, over 50% of renal function must be lost. It was concluded that serum creatinine is an inadequate and delayed marker of AKI

Histopathology of the gill of Lutjanus russelli infected with Learnanthropus species (Copepoda: Anthosomatidae)

    Get PDF
Abstract Histopathologic changes caused by copepods in the gills of Lutjanus russelli were studied. For histological sections, samples were stained by haematoxylin, eosin and mounted permanently in Canada balsam. Microphotographs of selected portions were prepared in support of the damage caused by the parasites. The histopathologic changes caused by the Learnanthropus species (Copepoda: Anthosomatidae) include several destruction and necrotic changes in gill filaments and secondary lamellae were recorded and the results were analysed

Identification of Novel QTLs for BPH Tolerance in Rice Using Resistant Donor BM 71

    Get PDF
Rice is the most widely grown crop in the world, feeding half of the world’s population. Brown plant hopper (BPH) is a considerable risk to rice fields carrying 20-90% yield losses. Hopper burn can be effectively managed by the recognition and use of BPH genes. Marker based genetic analysis of 136 RILcollected from a high yielding susceptible variety, MTU 3626 and BM 71, a BPH donor developed at RARS, identified 3 minor novel QTLs viz; qmbph2.1,qmbph4.1 and qmbph12.1 on chromosomes 2, 4 and 12 and two other QTLson chromosome 5 and 7, namelyqmbph5.1 and qmbph7.1. The phenotyping of RIL’s revealed that ten RIL’s (2711 – 31, 2711 – 37, 2711 – 50, 2711 – 69, 2711 – 84, 2711 – 88, 2711 – 94, 2711 – 100, 2711 – 168 and 2711 – 191) recorded yields comparable to checks, Swarna and Pushyami along with BPH score similar to donor. The BPH resistance lines recognised will be further evaluated, and the confirmed lines can be employed in rice breeding programs
